That being said, I think Pobega will be better as part of a midfield 3 rather than in a pivot

Rejinders looks really good. Overall defence needs to step up we made quite a few bad passes from the back.

For some reason Kalulu has had a massive involution the last 12 months. He was such a steady rock when we won the scudetto, now he's a clumsy mess.

It has to be a confidence thing. Losing his spot didn't help either

Atm, I'm worried about our defence, while they're all athletic (minus Calabria) and quick. They all have a f@ck up in them. Calabria was bad today. I'd give Kalulu a try to be out starter there. I think he just needs a solid run to regain his confidence and form.

And while the fact that we have no defensive mid is a huge worry, and there were signs today as well that this could be a big issue against better sides. I do think we're covering the spaces better than we did last season and overall have a much better shape out of possession.

If only we'd have Bennacer available. Midfield would be set.

Also, it has to be noted that there's a heatwave in Bologna atm. So I understand why we completely took our foot off the gas in the 2nd half and basically put it in neutral.

At least it's good to know that we are capable of slowing down a game without giving too much of anything to the opposition. Especially teams like Bologna.

I never liked Kalulu's technique, even when he was at his best. I can never see him as RB. Looks completely flat-footed in that role.

In midfield I thought Krunic and Reijnders were great. We give too much shtick to Krunic but tonight he was everywhere. Barely lost any balls and intercepted a lot. Reijnders also was tireless. I noticed around the 91st minute he was pressing like a madman.

The one who let me down tonight, aside from Leao, was Loftus. Barely involved at all in the game. A very bad display from him.

Very pleasantly surprised from Pulisic. He strikes me as a very intelligent player who doesn't necessarily try to do everything by himself like Brahim used to. It's so great and refreshing that we finally have a pair of quality wingers on that left side.

Apparently the air conditioning wasn't working in our dressing room so the boys spent the 15 minute break on the pitch.

Watched this last night - took 2 chances brilliantly, missed a third, then stopped playing after 20 minutes.

Bologna much the better side, but lacking conviction with their final shot and couldn't beat Mike (17 shots, 5 on target, Maignan MOTM).

We were lazy in the end, relying on a couple of moments of quality.

RLC ok, not great - Pusilic very bright start but faded, but his goal with Giroud was world class and the Frenchman made a few folk who thought he was done look silly.

Overall better teams, as you guys say, will punish Milan - Calabria still very much a soft centre and easily bypassed. He's such a weak link, and I'm not convinced by Thiaow either. I still believe Kjaer and Tomori is our best defence - can someone remind me why the Dane is no longer part of the picture really?

Reading some of your comment right now and comparing them to all the comments I've read online since last night is like comparing two different things.

Bologna much better side? I think not. First half we were far superior, in the second we decided to sit deep and wait the opponent. It was a tactical choice, not because Bologna overwhelmed us.

Thiaw was being praised out and wide by both critics and fans, myself included, for his performance. He was rock solid. The kid is only 21 but he plays like a veteran. Imagine how good he can get with more experience. I'd say Tomori was the lesser out of the two last night.

Kjaer is no longer the player he used to be. The injury he sustained two years ago was too severe for a 34 year old. He's past his prime, and Pioli doesn't see him as a starter anymore. There are rumours of him being shipped to Genoa. I'd personally keep him as 4th/5th choice.

Not criticising your thoughts, obviously. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Just saying.

Reijnders ran 12.8 km last night, more than anyone on the pitch. Class and hard work. What a player.
