I know what you mean about next season, han, with some smart transfers we could soon be the one of the biggest superpowers in football again. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

Yes, we are Champions of Europe now, but I believe we can achieve the impossible next year too; retain the trophy.

Sorry I'm so late posting this! But better than never right? You judge. Sorry it's so long too! Finally read through this thread, gotta be some kind of record, but it's worth it! Where to begin? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

My 1st thought is what Silvio said: We're stronger than envy, injustice & bad luck!!!!!!! (count the exclamations! notice anything? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) ) It'd take me forever to name all the people who are/have been envious/jealous of us (maybe with good reasons (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif) ) - for a long time too! The amount of injustices we've had? That would take a long time also! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) And lastly the bad luck - ditto! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

In the build up to this game I was quite calm, even though I admit I was a bit worried because I wasn't as sure as some (in fact most) of you that we'd win. I knew we COULD win but just didn't know how it was going to end up. I was about 60-40 in our favour. Through nearly all the 1st half I was so nervous! As looked Milan! It was like they hadn't even woken up, they looked so relaxed before kick off. I don't think I've seen a worse Milan side as the 1st half (with the exception of Kaka - what a move! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) - Zidane who?) we were making mistakes all over the place!

And to make matters worse the Ref was either a complete fvcking imbecile!, a p1$$ed off Bayern fan or a Liverpool fan! Unbelievable!

Does anyone remember Maradona's goal celebration at the '94 WC, when he was caned out of his head? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) (just so I don't put my foot in it again I have nothing against him and I hope he can be cured.)

(This is me showing experience after the BIG MISUNDERSTANDING I had with Mishale/Nova & others who TOTALLY GOT THE WRONG IDEA ABOUT ME!)

After Pippo's (& Pirlo's IMO) 1st goal, I swear on my life I was worse than Diego! I went so fvcking crazy, people must have heard me streets away! And no I wasn't on anything - honest! After everything we've been through the last few years, that goal gave me such a massive release of tension. To quote Crespo: it was better than an orgasm! Probably not many people here watch Snooker but anyway, I can only sort of half compare it to Peter Ebdon when he beat Stephen Lee a few years ago. I think I scared my dad away, Oops! - he went to his girlfriend's @ half-time. If any of my neighbours are reading this I'd like to apologise & thank them for not calling the police & serving me with an ASBO (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I've never been as wound up as I was on Wednesday night! Oh yea, I guess I was a little bit like Rino when he grabbed Lippi by the throat at the WC & Carlo another time. Except I didn't do this, I shouted/screamed (FVCKIN GET IN/AV IT! - YEEAAA! - COME ON! - LETS FVCKIN WIN THIS!) @ the top of my voice (really loud, dunno how many decibels?! but a lot!), fists in the air, scary look on my face - alla Ringhio (got the dark stubble to match!) - none stop for about 2/3mins - Doesn't sound a lot but it would've been for anyone in my vicinity!

The 2nd half was a completely different story - as I'd hoped after we were 1-0 up, our nerves melted away. (as did mine) Pippo's 2nd goal was amazing, @ 1st I thought he took it too wide but he slotted it under Reina - fantastic! Again I went crazy (although thankfully not as much as the 1st time) It was a long time coming, I knew we needed another and when it came I knew we were going to win - I was so happy this time! Whereas after the 1st goal my nerves exploded. What a guy - SuperPippo ti voglio tanto bene! (come sempre) I didn't know before the game about his promise to Silvio (that he'd score 2 goals) I think the reason he started was because of this and the fact he's a similar player to how Massaro was (he scored 2 in Athens too!) Kalispera Athena! (is this right dst?)

After Kuyt's (offside) goal there were a few seconds of deja-vu - until I saw how we ran the ball into the corners of their half & it was clear how we had learnt our lesson (the hard way) thanks to: 1) that horrible night. And 2) il nostro Presidente - Grazie Silvio! (referring to his talk with the players on the importance of keeping the ball/defending the lead near the end of a game, after what happened against Bayern)

I was sat/stood watching this final in the same place I watched the tragedy of Istanbul so that is another demon exorcised for me (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) This moral victory (for me) does not cancel out that night 2yrs ago, but it makes it easier to forget it - justice has been done and we can now rest easy and look forward to a brighter rossonero future. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I've read people in Italy are taking credit for OUR WIN - I say to them FVCK YOU! There's only 1 winner here and that's the ROSSONERI! If you want recognition for Italian football use the WC win! If another Italian team but Milan had won it, it would have been just theirs! I heard (apparently) the mayoress of Milan (with the surname Moratti!) said that this is a victory for the city of Milan - I say to her: ONLY THE RED&BLACK PART!

GRAZIE MITICO MILAN SEI (+1) IL MIGLIORE D' EUROPA ANCORA UNA VOLTA!
PER SEMPRE E SOLO FORZA MILAN!

That was simply what this trophy represented for me. I believe we took back the 7th that was taken away from us !

And above all, with the team being a bit shaky at the first half, Dida confirmed to the whole world, what a class goalkeeper he was. He was 110% above his game.

This win counts more than anything !! Now everytime someone brings up Istanbul, we know that Milan gave the reds a dosage of the same medicine (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

They were laughing at us .. Mocking us !

Thanks, Yea and we did it on the field (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) ... Merdazzurri! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Now to take back the 2 Scudetti on the field too - 1 from the pathetic Merda scum & the other that rightly wasn't assigned!

Yea, Dida is in the same form as the last time we won the CL (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif) against... Giuve (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I love how we keep beating trash! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Well it's similar but not the same because apart from 6mins last time we were the better team & deserved to win, this time they were only the better team in the 1st half!

Grazie doppio Milan (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif)

Athens Victory Important In A Difficult Year - Maldini

Father Maldini expressed his satisfaction at seeing his son lift Milan's 7th Champions League trophy, after he had had the pleasure of lifting the first.

It was Cesare Maldini who lifted the first European Cup won by Milan in 1963 and last Wednesday his son Paolo had the honor to do the same and celebrate the 7th victory by the Rossoneri in Europe's premier club competition, now known as Champions League.

"I had the honor of lifting the first European Cup", said Maldini sr., the guest of honor on the celebrative evening organised to celebrate Milan's victory, "now I'm happy that Paolo was able to experience those same emotions.

"It was a difficult year for Milan so the Athens victory was made even more important. The Champions League seems tailor-made for Milan. It's been that way since Berlusconi came, but also before. It's a team that has always wanted to do well in Europe."

"Paolo has a problem to his knee", Maldini continued, "and to play in the Athens final he had all the necessary cures done. Now is the time to operate and he will do that in Belgium on Tuesday, so he will get back to how he was, as he said. He still wants to continue playing."

"Ours is a great family because we are with many", Maldini joked. "Not just Paolo but the entire clan gives us great satisfactions."

5 guess this is our answer to how Milan's defense will look next season. Get Maldini back to the best shape possible. Depend on him for one more season. Then bring someone to take his place (I think Bonera is doing great. He just lacks the experience of either Maldini or Nesta), as he needs room to develop (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Still I do agree with what some of u are calling out for, another quality center back, seeing as Costacurta had retiered. I am hoping that they bring someone to take his place ..

We'll see how this unfolds .. But the pairing of Nesta and Maldini is the best, ever since their pairing in 2001 (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

You're spot on again R7! I read a very recent article here & on the Milan site - an interview with Galliani & he said there wouldn't be any changes in defence & no one is leaving. Though I think it may hinge on whether Kaladze stays or not! It would look like this if he left:

Oddo-Nesta-Maldini-Janku
Cafu-Simic-Bonera-Favalli
Marzoratti (he could come back off loan from Empoli, not sure yet) + possible Primavera call-ups: Darmian-Bruscagin-Antonelli
What happened to Abate? (RB/RW) Did he go somewhere on loan too? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Zambrotta said he didn't go to Barça for just a year, so maybe 2yrs - he could replace Cafu & Favalli next year. If we don't go for 1 of Alex, Mexes or Cris @ CB (the only ones good enough IMO) I hope we can get 1 of them next year.

I thought it was 2002? He was here before Carlo, when Terim was manager? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Dunno why it says joked (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Whether he was talking about the Maldini-Fossa family or the Milan family - it's true! It'd better go to Wembley soon!

Although it probably won't. Since Wembley had it in '92 and Old Trafford in '03.. Next in the sequence would be 2014, it's only 7 years!

Hmm, one of the well known newly built Stadia I'm sure it will be here sooner than that, hopefully!
