Ribery should've gotten a straight red for that (so early in the game)? please, be joking (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) there was hardly any contact, Lewandowski made a meal of it, pretending to have broken his chick bone or something! if one of our players did that and got sent off in a CL final, you guys would commit suicide because of injustice.

As for Dante.. I wasn't aware that he was on a yellow. he probably should've been sent off but I've seen ref's refrain from showing a second yellow in such circumstances before.

I think Rizzoli had a good performance because he's capable of much worse! yeah he made a few mistakes, but that happens with any ref in any big game these days.

Nevermind Lewandowski acting, but the thing is, Ribery had the intention to hit his opponent with his elbow. That's what counts, if you ask me.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ May 26 2013, 11:58 AM) *
- how on earth can you guys praise Rizzoli for his performance? First, Ribery should have got red, and it was not just the elbow but the whole charade afterwards on several occasions. Then, Dante should have got the second yellow after that dreadful incursion. Finally, Lewandowski should have got red or yellow as well, because - provoked or unprovoked - he stepped on Boatengs foot intentionally.

Agreed except for the Lewandowski bit, I don't think it was red worthy or even intentional.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ May 26 2013, 11:58 AM) *
- Why is Bayern classless Kurt? What's wrong with Lahm's performance? I think he did a fair defensive job, and also got involved into attacking in second half when Robben was moved to the left. Schweini did however surprise with a very average performance. Martinez, Neuer and Manđukić were great, while Müller was bit unlucky.

I thought both Lahm and Schweinsteiger were invisible. The latter ended up in defense half the game and even let Lewandowski turn him like he wasn't there when he was last man. Lahm whenever he received the ball couldn't seem to cope with being closed down quickly and his game consisted of 30 yard balls forwards and that's it.

Them making offers for players is just a cheap move. I also think Hoeness taking a job at the EPL saying "EPL is just about money, blah, blah, blah" is pretty cheap - especially when you consider his shady activity regarding taxes, so much for money not mattering, eh?

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ May 26 2013, 11:58 AM) *
Overall Bayern deserved to win. For most of this season they dominated and overall had a much better season the Dortmund. Yet, I do feel sad about Borussia. Who knows when they'll get another chance.

Here I completely agree. Robben may have missed chances, but overall he single handedly destroyed Dortmund and played a major part in both goals. I do feel very sad for Dortmund.

I thought Lahm was quite good. He's not good going forward (except against inferior teams), I don't know why that's still expected of him but he's a very solid defender and his positioning is great.

Schweinsteiger was not good but I think he's a good player.

I don't think any red should have been shown, Ribery's and Lew's incidents did not warrant a red in my view. Dante, if you go by the rule, should have been shown a second yellow. But it's a frustratingly stupid rule so I'm glad it was not applied. If anyone can find any logic in this rule, that no matter the nature of the foul if it's in the box it should be a yellow card, please explain it to me.

Since when did you have to break someone's nose to get sent off for a flailing arm, it's not allowed in football. In the current lawbook it's a red card, it was just missed.

Fillipo got it right earlier when he said the intent was there. It's a definite red. You have to consider that Ribery is much shorter than Lewandowski yet he still manages to catch him in the face!? He meant it, why the hell else are his arms up there?

I agree with you dst that the penalty should've been a yellow card. Had he not fouled him, then he's in 1 on 1, so surely it's a yellow? I think almost any foul for a penalty should be a yellow, given the area of the pitch.

I don't think the Ribery incident it's a red because he does not really hit him that hard. I don't think it's a clear elbow, I know intent is penalized but to me that's a yellow card.

So wait, you're saying it's fair that a penalty shot and a red card is a fair penalty for a foul that prevented a chance with much less percentage of becoming a goal compared to the penalty shot considering the angle? To me it's totally irrational that any foul in the box is a yellow card. Surely not every foul is the same.

Why is he swinging his arms a foot above his head? It is 100% clear that he intended to elbow him. What other explanation is there, it is how he dances?

The reason is that if you foul in the box, then chances are it's a good opportunity, considering you're so close to goal. Not all fouls are the same no, but most penalties end up with the fouler getting a yellow card.

haha I know he intents to hit him I'm just saying it's not really an elbow (he does catch him with the elbow but I would not describe the action as elbowing) and it's not fully committed so I don't think it's a red.

That's why I think it's a bad rule because you can't just show a yellow for a foul inside the box no matter the circumstances. In this instance in my view it's unfair to show Dante a second yellow when he only gave up a simple (non-violent) foul and the result would be a pressured shot from a tight angle when they already get the penalty shot with which they have a much better chance to score. It's a much heavier penalty than it should be I think.

I'm surprised Robben did not punch him in the throat. He was too calm. But I guess this is a sweeter revenge.

I don't know. Take another look:

Dante penalty

IMO it's not a simple foul, it's yellow-worthy - and not just because it is in the box. The fact that the chance for a goal was minimal is irrelevant.

As for Ribery, seems we disagree. What do you mean when you say it's not really an elbow? IMO it's what Germans call Tätlichkeit, violent conduct if you like. Would it be red if he actually broke his nose?

If Reus beats Dante, which he would've if not kicked, then I don't know who was in the box but he could've hit it across goal for a simple tap in if there's a player there. So the ref has to decide on not just how bad the foul was, but the situation it stops. It was yellow worthy, I agree with Fillipo.

I really disagree with you regarding Ribery, why does the outcome have any relevance to the punishment? The intent was there (no other reason his arms would be up there) and contact was made. It's a 100% red card and I can't really see an argument against it.

I think Reus sells it a bit but yeah that could be a yellow. What I'm saying is it should not be a yellow just because it's in the box.

I guess what I'm saying is, it's not really that violent to warrant a red.

I'm not saying there's no intent just that I don't think it's bad enough to warrant a red card. And I would not be saying that he wronged Bayern had he shown a red card but I personally would not.
