QUOTE (Milan Are Brilliant @ Feb 19 2013, 08:28 PM) It's just the logic at times that gets me, and they say Ronaldo fans are arrogant (IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) What logic? Messi has shown in every conceivable way that he is superior to Ronaldo. People just come up with the excuse that he plays for Barça and in La Liga as way of saying that he wouldn't rule in another league with a different squad. Obviously, since he's never going to leave Barça that gives them a boost of confidence in their statements, since they know they will never be proved wrong. I don't really have any sympathy for Messi, honestly. I just find him an incredible player, but those people who compare him to someone like Ronaldo, who is great but not phenomenal, seriously irk the hell out of me.

Yeah, as oppose to the people who just say well he would do as well as or better than a player who factually took another big-time league by storm, knowing that he won't really leave, thus boosting their confidence in their statements. That logic.

That logic. Well look at it this way. You and I think Ronaldo is better, but we conceed that it's close. Others say Messi is miles ahead of Ronaldo and it's a joke they're even compared. Yeah, and we're the ones who're being silly. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

QUOTE (acid911 @ Feb 19 2013, 10:56 PM) Hey, where's me in this conversation? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) If I were playing against Messi as a defender, I'd wager my own death if he went past me and scored. And to think the absolute jokers the drugged one plays against week in week out. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Then you most probably haven't watched the CL in the last 5-6 years. C'mon, one thing is not to like him (absolutely understandable, I dislike Ronaldo myself), other thing is to speak BS. QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Feb 19 2013, 11:23 PM) Well look at it this way. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Well, you have that on bosth sides of the argument, look at acid post and I remember him comparing Messi to Pastore not that long ago. I personally, don't think one of them is miles ahead, and I agree it's close, though I prefer Messi and think he's better.

C'mon, one thing is not to like him (absolutely understandable, I dislike Ronaldo myself), other thing is to speak BS. Nah, I was talking about the kiddie meal defenders of the Spanish league. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) CL is another thing, but even there quality stoppers have stopped him in the tracks. But minor league standards in La Liga is, no matter how you look at it, a joke. Same for CRON though, if you know what I mean. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) My memory is quite okay, any more hints when or in what context I did that?

Like Jack said, it's one thing disliking him, and it's another to speak BS.

But minor league standards in La Liga is, no matter how you look at it, a joke. Same for CRON though, if you know what I mean. Still, he has 56 goals in 74 games in CL, that's an amazing record no matter how you look at it, and CL top scorer in the last 4 years (39 goals in 40 games during those 4 years). Spanish league is another thing, but even there not everybody can score 50 goals in 37 games in one season (actually, no one did it in any league ever). I remember that being mentioned by you one of the arguments about this. I'll serach for it.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Feb 20 2013, 01:48 AM) I have a lot of respect for you, acid, and reading this is just... not like you. Like Jack said, it's one thing disliking him, and it's another to speak BS. Dude, Spanish league has the worst quality of defenders in all the major European leagues. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Major as in English, Italian and German leagues. La Liga is showboating and fancy tricks, which is okay, but it just means the focus shifts from defense to attack in ways that means a dip in defending. The only thing stopping Real from greatness is bad defense. Even Barcelona have a shaky one now. QUOTE (Jack Bauer @ Feb 20 2013, 01:57 AM) Still, he has 56 goals in 74 games in CL, that's an amazing record no matter how you look at it, and CL top scorer in the last 4 years (39 goals in 40 games during those 4 years). (IMG: style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) But you know I've never been much of a stats man. Love them to bits, but they rarely count for me when it comes to greatness. Heroes in almost all sports, for me, boil down to personal bits not numbers. But I can't disagree with what you said above. QUOTE (Jack Bauer @ Feb 20 2013, 01:57 AM) I remember that being mentioned by you one of the arguments about this. I'll serach for it. Sure, please do. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) It got me intrigued, I do remember most everything I post, even years old stuff. But this one I just can't seem to recall. Pastore and Messi in one sentences, from me, interesting.
