Thanks for the news updates Blue! I always look forward to your run downs. Big yes to Veloso. We could definitely use a player of his type still. I'd sell Mesbah this moment for 2m. With Didac on his way Mesbah isn't needed and he's unreliable. We should use him and a youth player to get toward a deal for Ogbonna.

And as for Zamparini, if we made him a decent offer, he'd giftwrap the player for us and send him straight away. He only cares about the money, nothing else.

Regardless of this case, we rarely see Southern teams giving the clubs up North their players. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) I am not sure it all boils down to just money, they do have personal grudges accumulated over the years. I mean, the first preference should always be the other clubs in the league (at fair prices, of course).

Instead, we have small Italian clubs offloading their finest (foreign) players to overseas teams, ultimately resulting in a weak Serie A. Look at the German league, they aren't afraid of selling players within the league. As for Zamparini, not sure he'd entertain the thought of selling a player to us. As much as I'd like to see the opposite happen.

Having said that, I wonder which (if any) big players we did manage to sign from the South over the years?

Hmmm. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) I thought almost everyone knew this, particularly those who live in the country. The thing is, it's the club owners (in the Southern cities) who throw a fist over this, not the players. Players (particularly foreign ones) would jump at the chance to play at any big club in the league, particularly the Milan and Turin based ones.

The divide may not be as evident at a few decades back, when the South of Italy felt out of the loop, and there were tensions between the two parts. Some even went as far to call the people based in the Southern cities, Africans. I think even now the Central and Northern part of Italy is much well-developed than the one down under.

How much that translates to friction in the league, and between club owners, others can tell you better. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) But from what my Italian friends tell me, clubs like Cagliari, Palermo, Catania, Napoli even Lazio hate the ones in the upper part of the country, particularly the one managed by the former Italian Prime Minister by the name of Berlusconi.

I'm sorry man, I've lived in Italy for more than 3 years and I've never heard of such thing. I mean, sure, there is friction between the north and the south, everyone knows that. But going as far as saying that the presidents and owners of the southern clubs refuse or are reluctant to sell their players to the northern clubs is absolutely untrue. Dozens of transfers like that occur every year.
