Nah, I felt exactly the same when it was the Uefa Cup tbh.

At least it's somewhat competitive and the winners are more often than not a quality side. The CL for the most part is dull and uncompetitive.

Competitive doesn't mean good though. I'd rather see Barcelona V Bate than Bognor Regis V Inverurie Select. The latter might be more competitive but it wouldn't come close to entertaining.

I dunno.

When we got to the last 16 the other year we had Hamburg and Ajax in our groups, then CSKA in the last 16. I thought it was brilliant stuff. I'd much rather that than get to the last 16 in the CL and just get destroyed.

Latter stages of EL > latter stages of CL. I really am not interested in watching some average CL side get smashed to peices by Madrid/Man U/Barca.

You posted that almost an hour ago and no one has blamed Mourinho yet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

I think we already established that everything that goes wrong is Mou's fault, so no one really needed to mention it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Look at Kazan though. Didn't they go to Barca and win? Or am I thinking of Donesk?

Doesn't matter, point is it's not really consistent to love the CL when you do well in it (aka as we have so many times) and dislike it when you fail miserably.

You could also argue that you're not interested in Atletico Madrid stuff Celtic 4-0 (albeit I'll bloody enjoy it). As will probably happen.

The same gulf between the best and worst sides exists in both competitions. The difference is the standards are much higher in the CL.

I wasn't talking best and worst though.

In the latter stages of the EL it's pretty competitive and most of the sides are pretty good. Just look at the CL last year, far too many hugely one-sided results. I think it encourages more defensive play as well, because teams know they can't beat Barca otherwise.

Totally agreed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) There is a sense of "anything can happen" in the later stages of the Europa League, that is pretty much unmatched in the CL. Maybe in the final, and that too if those dirty Catalans aren't in it. I've enjoyed EL matches more than CL these past couple of years. Definitely, enjoyed them more!

So, bottom line is you prefer Milan to be in the EL than the CL?

I doubt it, I think Kurt is just saying he prefers the EL than the CL to watch.

Both. Though in Donetsk case, it was the last game of the group stage and Barca played with second line up.
