I had forgotten about that, it's a good goal. But nowhere near the greatest ones I've seen. Like I said in the EPL thread I'm not thrilled by powerful strikes, I prefer team efforts. So, this Argentina goal in the same WC is a much better goal in my view. Simply wonderful!

One of my favorite goals was scored by Lothar Matthäus in the 1990 WC against Yugoslavia (see at 4:35). Also, I love this goal by Günther Netzer. And of course Cantonas legendary goal against Sunderland. Coolest french person ever!

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Jan 23 2010, 02:38 AM) I love Pires, he was undoubtedly great. But as much as I like him, and Villa bias aside (seeing as he was poor here), I think Ginola was the better player. He was just unfortunate to play for lesser teams than Arsenal. Magic, just magicWell, I think I might agree that on an individual level Ginola was the better of them. However, what wins it for Pires in my opinion is his qualities as a team player, he would make the whole team play better no matter wether he had a good game himself or not. I swear, during the 2002 season Pires was one of the top 5 players in the world. Assist King and Player of the Year, scored 9 goals in the league, all despite missing the last two months of the season.

That was a spectacular free kick!
[But since that game was brought up, you probably have forgotten that there was no foul there. And Beckham was gifted a few more chance to convert in the dying minutes again from non-existent fouls... It does not fit in your "FIFA is against England, FIFA does not love us" theory does it? You bloody whiner!]

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Jan 23 2010, 09:57 PM) It's scary how identical that free kick is to this one that sent us to the World cup. true, but it was just a liittle bit higher then the one LA. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) but I agree, it wasnt a foul but spectacular free kick as dst says. Btw; pinto was the goalkeep that match and he is not as good as Valdes. but he's still good/my opinion, did u guys see Sevilla and Barcelona in cup del rey (IMG: style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upblkmGpUZ0 start looking at 0:36
