future champion? perhaps in france. milan isn't going to bench pirlo, gattuso, seedorf or kaka for gourcuff's benefit and he's not so good that Milan'd build a team around him. if he doesn't come back i'm not bothered.

QUOTE (acid911 @ Jan 27 2009, 12:09 AM) I don't think pointing fingers at the management gets us anything? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) I mean, does it? If so, where to I sign-up? For all practical purposes I have better uses of my energies than bad mouthing a bunch of low IQ people who run our club, mostly because they don't listen, and mostly because even if they did, they'd still act stupid. Besides, since I already signed the dotted line (to become a fan of Milan), I don't give two hoots about what we do, how we buy players, how much we spend on them, how many season tickets get sold, how many new number 32s we import from USA, how many times we finish 5th consecutively, or if we leave out future would-be stars by not accommodating them to our game. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) As long as I get to see a game once or twice a week, I'm not complaining. I like it when you become angry (IMG: style_emoticons/default/devil.gif) QUOTE (Tennie @ Jan 27 2009, 12:16 AM) future champion? perhaps in france. milan isn't going to bench pirlo, gattuso, seedorf or kaka for gourcuff's benefit and he's not so good that Milan'd build a team around him. if he doesn't come back i'm not bothered. Perhaps that's why all of them have been inconsistent [to different degrees] in the past 2 seasons. there's not much competition in this team.

Very well said. And beside, the only real competition Gourcuff had in the midfield was Seedorf, the direct competitor of sorts. Or maybe to a lesser extent Brocchi (while he was here), and Emerson. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) And in a way, Carlo too. But yeah, I'm happy for him. Suits us right. And suits him too.

not going to get into an argument about this one (and we're veering off topic). Suffice it to say that I disagree with folks regarding Gourcuff. There's no confirmation that Bordeaux has actually exercised it's 15 million buy out.
There are rumors that Chelsea might want Storari as replacement for Cudicini as a backup keeper.

QUOTE (mishie @ Jan 26 2009, 10:03 PM) I think it's more to do with the for-mentioned players being of better quaility than Gourcuff (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Shame about Storari tho his career has nose dived since he left us Isn't he technically still a Milanese?

+1.
I'd like Gorky back, but I won't shed tears if he doesn't come. I don't think he's a Seedorf replacement at all, despite both their positions saying CM. He's more like an old world treqqie, playing advanced down the centre. We don't have that exact position in our team. Kaka plays SS now, and Carlo has already started Project: R80 to train R80 to play behind Kaka (probably from left to centre). If Gourcuff came, we'd have to dump both Seedorf and R80, play with Pirlo and 2 DMs.
---DM---Pirlo---DM ------Yoann--------- ---------------Kaka-- ------Pato/Borriello--
How often could we play this formation? Of course it's conceivable that Gourcuff might be willing to change his gameplay style to accomodate the team, but somehow if he didn't do it when he was a relative 'nothing', I'm not sure if he'd do it now, when he's a relatively big name.
I would guess Yoann was supposed to play the kind of role Beckham is playing now, except with a little more flair and panache, but he wasn't doing it too well.
15 million is nice, but I don't see a big point in it as well. Our problem is no longer building our bench strength. We need some heavy artillery, and 15 million gets you not a lot. (Unless we were to have a swap included, but our team doesn't have swappable members. Senderos is on loan anyway!).
Anybody think Senderos is a rough diamond, and can actually turn out to be something special? OT..but I'm still undecided about that one. Because I've seen him play some brilliant games, and I can't question his commitment one bit.

Yeah, and the fact that he isn't an English media junkie didn't help much either. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) Do the same with Beckham, play him the last 10 minutes a match every three weeks, and we'll talk then. Besides, Gourcuff was a youngster, not an established player like Beckham. Or Seedorf. Or Brocchi. Or Emerson. He was expected, yes, but to say he got a fair chance would be stretching it, in my opinion. And I repeat we're not too much of a sucker for 15 million. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) We've brought players for this amount uncountable times before, and not all of them turned our right. Give 15 million to a club like Fiorentina, and they'll go ecstatic because they can build their team. For a multi-million enterprise like us, 15 million should be chump change. I fail to see why people here are getting excited so much for this amount. It's not like we got 150 million, anyway. We've gotten 100 million when we won the CL twice. Another 50 million for the final appearance. 25 millions consecutively for quarter appearances for no idea how long. Get a grip, people. Who's willing to bet this 15 million will go in dirty pockets, or signing up has-beens, or at most some dumb overrated player? We've done this in the past, and by golly we can spill this money again. And beside like you said, 15 million gets you not a lot, anyway. Sort of like a neo-Stam. Which probably isn't gonna happen any time soon. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Sanderos is a physical player, and as far as these type of players come and go, he's done rather well in the limited time he's featured.

Yup...but Chiellini is also a physical player when compared to CBs like Nesta and Paolo. Playing Beckham for 10 mins at the end of every match? Well that won't happen. Besides the usual brand Beckham appeal, Gorky didn't come to us with a title in every league he's played + two CL titles. To be honest, I don't think we can question Beckham's place in the team any longer. He's played really well, and he's kept his head down and worked hard. In fact all of SAF's proteges have that quality to them. It's the media that made Beckham. I'm yet to hear one Zlatan-esque remark about his awesomeness come from Beckham, even though I would say David has twice the right to make those sort of statements. 3 matches he's played and Emerson is not even called up anymore. Do you realize what this means? For someone to make Carlo stop showing love to Emerson?! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Beckham is the real deal! Well...until the next match anyway... No..I mean that was my question...coz I was wondering if in time, with the right exposure to tactics etc he could turn out to be good. I know he's far from the finished product, but sometimes he can be just brilliant on the pitch. Like our match against Arsenal which we lost. And his physicality is something we obviously lack in the centre.
