I really think we need a defender..Kaladze is such a joke..We should've gotten Micah Richards..He's a very stubborn defender that doesn't give in like that...He's good and young

i think we should use darmain and make him ready we cant replace nesta on transfer market some are not gud while other who are they have a big price tag the solution is youth team players specially for the defence i think it is time to give darmain and the other the chance and this is the best way to replace maldini and nesta ( he still can play 2-3 years but rite now we need someone to replace him and tha should be darmain or someone from the youth team)

That's just goal.com bullshit.

Till February we won't have any problem in the Uefa cup anyway, and we can add Nesta to the squad then. With his injury problems it make sense that the club want to take it easy on him. There is no need to panic yet.

Exactly.

Wait a moment,..who is Pasini now?

I don't think Nesta will retire NOW, after the transfer period is over? I think he would have made that decision early this summer if he had to. But he'll be back,..

Nesta's running - it's a small step but it's a step. He'll be back, though it may not be til winter that we see him. I'm not too concerned that he's not been included in the UEFA Cup list. The first set of games (those played before Christmas) are generally the games that the A team isn't fielded anyway. For example, last year Fiorentina didn't start their strongest 11 in these games, nor did Bayern.

Another youth guy. We do that a lot. I was kinda hoping Osuji would be in the lineup. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/swear1.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/swear1.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/swear1.gif) Tuttomercatoweb (haven't looked elsewhere yet) is reporting that Nesta's back isn't better and that he may go to the same rehab place in Miami that he went to for his shoulder. They're saying that NOW he may be available to play after the Christmas break.

EDIT: The same story is repeated in Gazzetta and Mediaset.

Oh FFS (IMG:style_emoticons/default/swear1.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/swear1.gif)

He's the one crucial player we need and we can't seem to recover him any time soon.

I'm thinking this back problem could spell the end of Nesta's carreer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) He can't seem to recover from it. Next season we should look into buying atleast 3 defenders and all should be class if not world class, Paolo is retiring, if this keeps up with Nesta he won't be around much longer, Kaladze is also very injury prne and out for half a season, Favalli will be another one out in the summer we shouldn't keep him any longer.

That leaves us with just Bonera, Zambrotta, Senderos (big maybe, because if he doesn't recover from his injuries anytime soon and play some games Milan won't make his stay permanent), Janku, Darmian (who has a snowballs chance of getting into the first team), Kaladze and Antonini.

That leaves us with just 3 center backs and 3 fullbacks.

The defence needs a MAJOR overhaul in the summer, even the goalkeeper. Abbiati and Dida or not good enough anymore, Abbiati has been lucky that none of him mistakes have resulted in goals so far and I can't even imagine how many times Dida would have screwed up already if he was playing regularly

Nesta can't shake injury Tuesday 4 November, 2008 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has suffered yet another setback in his recovery from a back problem.

The 32-year-old stopper is now unlikely to feature until after the winter break when the Rossoneri travel to Dubai for a mid-season training camp.

Nesta has not been available to Coach Carlo Ancelotti since July 13 when a disk slipped in his back and crushed two vertebrae.

After several weeks of therapy, Nesta returned to first team action on October 14 in a friendly played in Albania.

The following Sunday, Nesta was on the bench for Milan's game with Sampdoria, but felt pain once more.

“It will take a little more time,” said Ancelotti. Worryingly, former Milan left-back Serginho suffered from the same affliction and had to retire, albeit aged 35.

Nesta has already had an operation on his back and an investigative procedure recently showed that it is healing fine, making the real cause of his injury a mystery.

The former Lazio captain has since returned to Miami, where he has a holiday home, to complete his recovery.

Nesta's prolonged absence gives Ancelotti a headache at centre-back. Philippe Senderos has been at Milan for two months now and has been injured three times.

Paolo Maldini has had a scan after complaining of muscular pain and Kakha Kaladze is only just returning to full fitness.

That leaves Daniele Bonera as Milan's only healthy central defender. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/king.gif) hes a class Centre back Forza Bonera !!!! keep the backline organised while Capitano isnt playing!!!!

I hope he is back soon ... I believe in the long run Milan will need him. So far, Bonera has produced really good displays and the more he plays, the more he will get better.

We also have Maldini, who will contribute his last efforts before hanging up his boats (obviously)

Kakha is strong and firm at the back

And though Nesta would be a HUGE boost to the back line .. I am confident that the team can go on without him in the short run. As the results have shown in the past six games.

EDIT: And Senderos has yet to contribute ... I am hoping for Stam-like performances from him

Bonera has been really good so far, just like he was when we lost Nesta because of the shoulder injury, he and Maldini together were rock solid and we didn't conceed any goals for a long period of time. But when the game start coming thick and fast and we can't even rely on Maldini to play in most of them we'll start having real problems.

Kaladze might be strong but he's not a firm defender. He's the opposite of that, I would much rather see Bonera starting in every match we have then Kaladze, he makes an average of 2-3 mistakes in every game he plays.

Nesta is desperately needed imo. Although we've managed to keep cleansheets or just conceed a single goal in these last few games we have been rather lucky in not conceeding. Our defence is anything but solid atm, and if Nesta doesn't return soon we'll start conceeding cheap goals again.

As for Senderos, I had high hopes for him, but at the rate things are going his entire loan spell with Milan could be spent on the treatment table. Which is too bad because we could really use someone with his physique in our defence

So very true han ..

But the fact that Milan hasn't conceded much is because of the fusion solid midfield that Milan has. The DMs play real close to the defense, that they form a part of it when the pressure is on.

Tactically, this is 100% Carlo's doing and with experienced players like Ringo & Ambro, I think the team can hold on with the options available to us atm.
