give him some credit... to get a shot off while being completely off balance as he rounded the goalkeeper was a feet in itself, especially considering most strikers would have tried to draw a penalty.

Gila did very well in that goal - we all agree on that!

But, he does smth like that once in 2 months (last time he saved our asses was on 20th of January against Udine), and we can't afford that!

We need smth like that at least once in 2-3 matches, and Gila will never deliver that. Sad but True!

I'd take these four (Pato, Paloschi, Inzaghi and Ronaldo) any day of the week, compared to these other teams. Piero's story is almost finished, Iaquinta is (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/puke.gif) We have Kaka compared to Ibra, Drogba is not officially an Inter player yet, Suazo is a good bench player - never like Trezgay much.

But the point, friends and neighbors, is will we be able to keep these four fit? Short answer: No. And that's what hurting us now, if we had Ronaldo fit ten matches on a stretch, we'd undoubtedly have had 30 points from them. I would say we have the weakest strike force as of now, but if you take potential into account then I probably would take ours. Unfotunately, now is what's going to decide how well we do this season.

Ha, you're right Kurt. Apart from our bench, we have the best starting XI in the world - on potential. But you as well as I know how little that matters. We were a completely different team in the matches Ronaldo (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) played: My, my, 5 goals in a match are 5 goals, no matter who you score them against. I still believe we'd have been 3rd (if not 2nd), if everything had gone our way from the beginning of the season. Maybe even first, with 2-3 decent signings, and a Paloschi or two from the youth squad. But who am I kidding, right? And our problems are not just a weak strike force, it's a complete mess. From coach to management, to attack, defense, mid - and wait for it - goalkeeping. As much as I hate to admit it, the rest of our squad is just going through the motions, running like headless chickens, are horribly out of form, or plain don't deserve to wear the red and black. They just cash in their weekly paychecks. Not to mention players like Ba are taking team spots, and doing absolutely nothing. As a matter of fact, the only plays I feel sad about, right now, are:

Paolo: He deserves much more.
Gila: Not very much, but I like him. At the very least I want him to do well wherever he plays.
Dida: A man always deserves a second chance. No matter what he's done.
Kaka: He's been man marked out of the game, the entire season.
Ronaldo: Is there an injury he hasn't had?

Clubs like Juve and Inter have better management than us, and that shows in crap players like Suazo, Cambiasso and Iaquinta scoring goals. While we, the fans have to suffer, when a club like Milan is struggling for fourth place - and squandering chances every other week. And this has been going on for 2-3 years in a row. Gilardino: "There are those who cant help but criticize"


Daniel Bonera along with Yoann Gourcuff interviewed fellow team-mate Alberto Gilardino, for the "Forza Milan" mag. Gilardino spoke about the criticism that he had received and the birth of his daughter Jennifer.

Bonera: I know that you have a weird habit of collecting football cleats for good luck, would you like to elaborate on that?

Gilardino: Yes, I'd love to. For years now, I have been used to collecting football cleats in a bag, nothing in the ag but those cleats. And I don't just do that with the ones that I wear now, but also with the pairs that I haven't worn in a long time.

Bonera: I would like to know what kind of food you like. Starting from the appetizers straight till the dessert?

Gilardino: Bedmontezi (thats how it sounds, not sure of the spell) is what I start with, then spaghetti, I have no preference here because I like all kinds in general. Biatoni (again spell) along with mushrooms. Then Teramisso. After that I wont be able to move from the chair, but I'll most definitely be happy.

Bonera: From my point of view there are a lot of negativity and quick judgment ultimatums being thrown at you. What do you think?

Gilardino: I agree with you, there are a lot out there who don't stop criticizing. But anyways, I know that I shouldn't think about what they say about me, even if it is so evident that reading such criticism and hearing it doesn't bring me much happiness for sure. I must train hard and play better to answer all those critics.


Bonera: You have become a father now, do tell us how that is treating you?

Gilardino: Without a doubt I received emotions I have never felt before when I first saw my daughter being born. And now I am starting to live this new experience: which demands from us to sacrifice more, as I am very much content to do so. And of course, I wont be able to wake up at 11am from now on, but even that fills me with joy. I followed the whole thing (birth of his daughter), it was unbelievable.

Gourcuff: Where, when, and how did you meet her?

Gilardino: I met her when I was 20, we were in the mountain of 'Madona Di Cambialo' during Christmas which I spent with a couple of friends. We got a better chance to get to know each other, when I played at Parma.

Gourcuff: Had you not moved to Milan, where would you have played?

Gilardino: I don't know, maybe if I hadn't worn this shirt, I would have chosen an experience outside of Italy. It is very difficult to say really. That summer, many clubs were after me, but Milan is the best. So ..

Gourcuff: What do you think of the Milan fans and football fans in general?

Gilardino: Let's start with the Milan fans; I'll say they are too harsh with their criticism. And they have every right, seeing as they have seen champions wear this very shirt in the past. They want to see great games and beautiful football, and they want to brag about their players across the world. Even with that said, I have noticed on several occasions that they have been their when we needed them the most. About football fans in general; I think they should learn to respect their opponent's fans more, so that families can come to stadiums knowing fully well that they wont be caught in between violent groups. So that on game day, there shouldn't be such tension but celebration. Then we have to find the right balance for this game that we all love.

Gourcuff: Don't you notice that the news and television have applied pressure on us and criticized us on several occasions?

Gilardino: The best thing to do in these situations is not to read the newspapers or watch tv. I know it is not easy to ignore them, because you cant be disconnected to the world. But the solution is to neglect some papers and tv channels. What is more important is for us to understand the different types of criticism. Constructive or destructive criticism. I say this because I have been a victim, and have received very harsh criticism without any reason, and it doesn't have any meaning behind it.

Gourcuff: Does it scare you, the thought of you being a father?

Gilardino: No, it doesn't scare me. It is more of a adventure, one I have never been on before. I will do my best to give Jeniffer the ideal life and not let her ever need anything from anyone.

I think he answered those questions from Bonera and Goucuff pretty well (atleast the ones we really wanted to see what his reply was).
As i have stated in another thread about his 'possible move to Fiorentina'... I support that a change could be necessary and I admit frustration with the player at times, but i always wished him well. I hope to see him revamp his career, and make Italy proud no matter where it is!
