Milan admit to Eto’o desire

Milan chief Adriano Galliani has declared that the Rossoneri will make an offer for Barcelona's Samuel Eto’o.

The latter has been heavily associated with the European champions and the Vice-President has today admitted that the Cameroon ace is a target.

“Eto’o remains our primary objective, but we will not disturb Barcelona until the end of the Liga season [on June 17],” Galliani noted this afternoon.

“However, next season’s squad will basically be the same as the group of players who have just ended this campaign.

“A few players might come in, one in midfield and one in attack, but we are in no hurry as we are fine as we are.”

The proposed arrival of Eto’o would increase the competition for a striking shirt next season and Galliani conceded that the club were ready to sell Alberto Gilardino.

The latter is unhappy with the lack of faith being shown in him by the European champions and a divorce is seemingly on the cards.

“I told him that the club would want him to stay,” added the official.

“However, seeing as we can’t guarantee him a starting shirt and we didn’t appreciate his recent interview, I have given him permission to leave – so long as someone pays us £17m.”

Gilardino is understood to be keen on a move to Juventus which has led to speculation that the Old Lady may offer David Trezeguet in return.

“Trezeguet is a player who we really like, but we can’t exchange a player who was born in 1982 with one who is five years older.”

Galliani also rubbished rumours of an Andriy Shevchenko swoop. “His return is more impossible than unlikely,” he added.

“Thierry Henry? We were close to him after Sheva left but he demonstrated himself to be a great man. He wanted to stay loyal to the club who made him famous.”

I hope Gila WANTS TO stay! If not then it's best for both sides that he leaves... and we replace him. I think what Galliani means is that Trezeguet is not old enough for Milan! All I am asking from u, is to forget Gila's past at Parma and concentrate on what he has accomplished for Milan. Try to recall what made me and several other's try to point out about Gila being 'incompetent'.

With that in mind, you would have to come to the conclusion that having faith in Gila is one thing and depending on him is another .. I have lost faith in him, but I don't think Milan can depend on him. Whilst you have faith in him, and still, u think Milan can depend on him (am I right ?).

Well I always said that I had faith in him but I never really said that I would rely on him when it's a big game and we need goals so he should start instead of Pippo or whatever new striker we get. All I was saying is that with all the games we will play next season having a reliable SERIE A goal scorer would be better then having Oli when he would garauntee you something long the lines of 3 goals. Especially when they basically get the same wage.

All I'm trying to say basically is that Gila will be very useful for us come next season and I don't mean to say that I would want Milan to rely on him when it comes to a big CL game I don't even rely on him when it comes to that myself (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) . But just that he will be a good player to have between the 4 strikers we have next season.

Well, Milan have today showed faith in Gila. Just as u have. But do you honestly think Milan will depend on him ? Well, we will just have to wait and see. But this time around (IF he ends up staying..), he will have to climb the ladder to the first team. And with Pippo, R99 and another great striker playing with their best form; Gila will have to really start to turn some heads if he wants to play in the important games (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Exactly and I've never denied this. Hopefully the big challenge he will have to fight for his place next season will hopefully push him to show what he can do, sort of like Drogba at Chelsea. That's what I hope but we'll see. All I'm sure of is that this will probably be his last chance to impress and he better make it count because he will be out the door come next summer if he doesn't and then I would agree that selling him would be better for both parties involved
