Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has rejected a move to Milan, according to the Italian Press.

The 20-year-old stopper, who joined Los Meringues from Sevilla last year, is happy to stay in La Liga and is negotiating an improved contract with President Roman Calderon.

The Rossoneri will have to look elsewhere now. While the signing Massimo Oddo remains as complicated as ever, Vice-President Adriano Galliani is tempted by Juliano Belletti.

The Brazilian full-back would be happy to move to San Siro and Barcelona would be keen to sell him for about £3m. Milan may then offer him a three-year deal.

Belletti would then be an easy option considering the problems in all the other negotiations.

Even Argentinean left-back Leandro Grimi, who was supposed to join Milan during the transfer window, is having troubles with his passport and may only be available from June.

We have been waiting for reinforcments for so long now. Now that the window is about to open; I wouldn't mind Baresi putting his shorts back on and lending us a hand .. Cuz that's how bad our defence is, but some have forgotten we need all the help we can get.

If Ramos was that bad .. Capello would have gotten rid of him, like yesterdays newspaper.

I'm not defending Ramos, nor am I defending Milan's transfer strategies .. I am talking logically about two football players (disregard his price please, cuz it has no relevance to the theory) who are linked to Milan .. One is a complete unkown to us and the other we have all seen play on the highest competitions in europe and the world.
While we arent the ones who decide who is coming and who isn't; we sit here piss and moan about what we are about to get, if we get such players ! Ok I think I FULLY understand what you're saying now, and I don't think I ever said I wopuldn't give Ramos a chance. Because if he does come (which is something that DEFINATELY WON'T happen) I wouldn't say I can't believe we went for him and I don't want him to play for Milan. Far from it. I just don't think he's that much of a good defender and think it would be useless to spend the ammount of money on him Real would be asking for (I mentioned the money not to ompare the 2 situations, so don't jump on me for mentioning the money (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) )

But let's just not get Grimi into this, he's an unknown, Ramos is somewhat of a big name player, isn't this what we wanted?? To get young talented players for the future?

Secondly if Ramos is a success and plays at the level of Madrid, it's not something to swoon over, coz we all seen what he can do and it's not like he's number 1 in the world. However anything good from Grimi would be a HUGE bonus, since expectations are low. And I guess underneath..where our ego resides, we'd rather get an unknown and make him huge than think we had to use somebody from Madrid to lift us out of the abyss.

So how was Christmas?
