The time on the official site is at 7:30pm so I can only assume that it's 7:30pm CET.
My only hope is that no one gets injured in this meaningless friendly

QUOTE (drucurl @ Jan 4 2012, 04:47 PM) He almost missed. Robinho would have found a way (IMG: style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I don't think he was expecting Ibra to pass to him, so it came slightly behind him, but he still managed to backheel it. I don't ever expect Pato to miss any clear cut chance

QUOTE (drucurl @ Jan 4 2012, 05:06 PM) Nah....Pastore and Nene are doing quite well. Our midfield is AWOL but our attack is doing quite well. when Robinho makes some more progress expect fireworks. I'm not sure if it's iBra as CAM behind Robinho or if Robinho is playing as a kind of free winger behind iBra then Pato (4-4-1-1) Anything that keeps Robinho far away from goal is fine with me

QUOTE (il_diavolo_mtl @ Jan 4 2012, 06:17 PM) Watching this game i have renewed my faith in El Sharaawy, he really does have all the tools to be a big time player for us, maybe even our AM in the future... I was just about to post about him. Watching this game, it's such a shame that he doesn't get a chance on a regular basis for us. I just hope that once the Coppa matches start he'll be a sure starter in those games instead of Ibra or Pato.

QUOTE (il_diavolo_mtl @ Jan 4 2012, 06:18 PM) Inzaghi wasting his 4-5th chance... this is sad, i really just want him to retire already (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) He's being way too selfish as well, it's not like scoring in this game will change anything for him. El Shaa was wide open for the pass in front of goal, but Pippo tried to dribble his defender (something he couldn't even accomplish during his younger years), instead of squaring it to El Shaarawy

QUOTE (il_diavolo_mtl @ Jan 4 2012, 06:21 PM) FT. It's a shame, with Pippo losing the ball as often as he did, that we did not see the second unit offense work with possession it's magic (outside of the 4-5 chances created for Pippo) Watching this I can understand why Allegri has kept Pippo at a distance, he just cannot cut it anymore, Ambro and Rino are also none players these days, I know Rino's been out for a long time but he didn't even get the basics right. I hope all of these players bar Nesta retire at the end of this season, they are tarnishing what was once a beautiful legacy

Honorable mentions (i only caught the last 20 minutes) Antonini, Abbiatti, El Sha, Valoti (although he rarely got the ball he seemed to be very effective with possession wether passing dribbling or going into dangerous positions)
The age of our midfield was made apparent when, after a FK in their own half, PSG bombed the ball up and the only players to get back were El Sha and emanuelson while the mid was practically still in PSG's half... Bonnera makes 1 big mistake, Abbiati save, of the rebound their wingers puts it in the middle (where our midfield SHOULD BE by then) and another unchallenged shot another great save by abbs

I get that his recovery has been remarkable and no one was more happy to hear of his inclusion then me, but i cannot bear to see this wounded gladiator mess-up as much, i really really REALLY want the old guard to retire with one last scudetto this year, hopefully not compromising our chances for it with these bashful outings

QUOTE (drucurl @ Jan 4 2012, 06:25 PM) Well to be fair at his age and given the lengthy spell out with injury, one couldn't expect Inzaghi's first real match to be a vintage one I just don't think he can do it any longer, he was quick once, so his great lack of skill was a none factor because he simply weaseled his way past defenders. Pippo has probably been out of shape for a while now. Allegri is no angel and I'm very far from being a fan of his, but just watching him trudge along trying in vain to do something other than stumble over the ball was just painful to watch QUOTE (il_diavolo_mtl @ Jan 4 2012, 06:32 PM) Completely agreed, i didn't want to be the first to bring up rino but in the 20 minutes i watched he missed a great deal of simple, unchallenged passes from as close as 2-3m. Nocerino has more than taken a hold of his spot, while Aquilani complements Nocerino a lot better than Seedorf does, not to mention the right and left debacle Seedorf poses when he's played in the midfield 3.

QUOTE (drucurl @ Jan 4 2012, 12:27 PM) There's no reason to "renew" anything. He was never poor for us. Our n00b oldfashioned biassed coach just stopped playing him so you saw him less that's all (IMG: style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) Please just stop it, i highly doubt there is a member on the forum who thinks you are capable of distributing blame outside of Ibra and Allegri, the best player in the league and the only Scudetto winning coach in the league, respectively. It would be more enriching if you took on less exhaustingly unidimensional approaches: Can a bench player not just have a good game without the coach being called "n00b oldfashioned biassed"? Granted you exercised great restraint when coming out with a much less invasive title for Allegri, and for that i am thankful (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Forza El Sha (IMG: style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif)

But a more tactile approach could maybe lessen the hostile responses you get. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

(IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Yes I totally take your point on my style Han but I'd wish people separated the FACTS from the FRILLS. There are a lot of external things that serve to adorn things/people that may be totally unrelated to their TRUE worth or beauty. Allegri is rightly the scudetto holding coach but in a season where Juve weren't a threat and Inter was clearly on the decline, could he rightly have lost the scudetto with the best squad in Italy? Heck even Zaccheroni and Benitez had their moments of brilliance and I'd want neither to coach Milan. Allegri has been given double what L30 got fired for and proportionately more than even Ancelotti and to me he has yet to deliver on the massive hype. These are FACTS. My abrasive criticism of him is partly in response to the INCREDIBLE amount of plaudits he receives (see Pirlo (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) )for being an average- to good coach. Not the best. Not world class either. And most disgustingly of all this team is so incredibly similar to the iBra dependant Inter of old....courtesy Mr. "iBra is the symbol of Milan (IMG: style_emoticons/default/puke.gif) " Allegri For all those that hate me and think $h!tlegri is the second coming of Sacchi or something...let me ask you this....does it seem right that Milan should adopt the same boring style of the calciopoli driven inter? The systematic destruction of talents at Jube....heck we have helped Nocerino, and Aqua revive their careers and Giovinco had to leave to prove himself at Parma. Miccoli's true brilliance and talents would never be appreciated by the non serie aficionados because of a a similarly boring and biased $#!t by the name of Marcello Lippi (yes THE WORLD CUP, scudetto and CL winning Lippi) the only thing is that Lippi might have been biased, stunted the growth of young talent in favour of his senatores and that fairy Pirlo.....but Allegri isn't blessed with the diverse talents today as he had. Neither is he half the tactician. The results will thus be proportinately lower.

Rule 1 of Milanfan - Allegri is to be blamed for everything, praised for nothing. Rule 2 of Milanfan - Ancelotti is to be priased for everything, blamed for nothing. Your above post alludes to Allegri not being 100% incompetent, so therefore your opinion is incorrect.

And sorry. I come from a place where Allegri is worshiped as the best coach ever and iBra is called "king Zlatan" and regarded by many as superior to Messi. When Pato scored the goal they were going Ibraaaaaaaaa like it was his goal (IMG: style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) The number of iBra groupies are incredible and they applaud him even when he does ugly things. The posters that translated his autobiography have their usernames in gold by the admin....etc etc you get the point..I kinda assumed the same nonsense was the rule here. My bad. Will try to be less caustic.

So, now you people get why Inzaghi is treated badly, huh? Didn't you learn anything from last summer's friendlies? When Taiwo "put Robben in his pocket"?
Missed the last 15 minutes, does anyone have a extended highlights version of the game?

QUOTE (CHU-LIP @ Jan 5 2012, 01:25 PM) What are you trying to tell? I'm trying to tell that it's ridiculous to judge someone, even a 50 year old player, based on one friendly. People here tried to convince me Taiwo is great because he marked Robben brilliantly at the Audi Cup and prevented him from doing us any damage. Same here...to say all comes down to yesterdays match that proved Inzaghi is finished is ridiculous to me.

Same here...to say all comes down to yesterdays match that proved Inzaghi is finished is ridiculous to me. Playing a bad friendly doesn't prove anything since anyone can have a bad day (especially in a friendly, and especially when having played since forever), so I agree about Inzaghi (though I didn't think he was that bad). But playing a good game against Robben showes what you have to offer, what you are capable of. The question though if one can do that on a consistent basis. I hope Taiwo gets more playing time and confidence to at least try reaching that, since I don't like any of our left backs and Taiwo being the only one who could be well enough. I see us not getting a good left back in January anyway, so let's give Taiwo a fair chance, and play him game after game (else it will never work to get confidence and the right form).

I think it mostly shows that the Bundesliga isn't followed closely and that people don't know much about Robben.
Firstly, he's very fragile and I don't blame him for not giving his 100% in an unimportant friendly which was obvious. Secondly, this seasons Robben cannot be compared to the Robben 2 seasons ago. Now Bayern have a unit, a real team, and 2 seasons ago it was all Robbery, with Robben being the brain. This year it seems he's in a rift between the coach and doesn't play that much, I'm sure you know that Chu as you follow the Bundesliga closely.
So what does it in the end tell? Not that much, maybe Taiwo has potential, or Robben fades slowly, but in the end, I remember people speaking of Taiwo as a sure starter and citing that match as their key argument.

Sometimes I think Fillipo Simone is the more refined, intelligent, Milanfan version of myself (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) couldn’t agree more. Inzaghi is now “officially” finished because the oxygen thief that is Allegri begrudgingly let him play a whole half of a friendly in which he didn’t score. Add this to further intellectually challenged comments about his “decline in speed” (like he had any to begin with) and fitness (comprehensively judged from not seeing him all season) and we have the most dispassionate assessment of his ability to contribute further to our cause. Which is unanimously agreed to be 0 (IMG: style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Inzaghi is old. I won’t for a minute suggest that he can OR should play ahead of ANY of our starting three strikers. However his MIND is his greatest asset. With a positional sense like his, Pato would be already in double digits –injuries and form issues or not. Speed isn’t everything for a striker. The first step is the idea of where to go. The second step is how to proceed. Inzaghi’s positional intelligence is unparalleled……but of course the fitness junkie that happens to Coach Cagliari B doesn’t see this, just like he didn’t see Pirlo’s or Ronaldinho’s assets. In the exact opposite to Inzaghi’s situation, playing El Shaarawy elicits praise from the sole proprietor of coaching acumen that is Allegri leading to people’s “renewed” faith in a player who was viewed as one of the best young talents in Italy and has done nothing but impress when he has come on. No one bothers commenting on how he SHOULD have gotten more playing time in situations where even the deceased Ray Charles could have seen opportunities for him to get playing time. I smell a golden bench (IMG: style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Jan 5 2012, 03:30 PM) So what does it in the end tell? Not that much, maybe Taiwo has potential, or Robben fades slowly, but in the end, I remember people speaking of Taiwo as a sure starter and citing that match as their key argument. I guess you have made good points. Taiwo does remain a question mark, and I guess people put faith in the question mark when the others for that position are proven to be mediocre at most. I don't know Taiwo well, so maybe it's mostly based on hope, though attacking wise he has the most to offer from all our fullbacks, and defending wise, I hope he can become the necessary with help of Tasotti, Nesta... As long he doesn't get a nice amount of games in a row, I feel like he isn't given a fair chance to prove himself.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Jan 5 2012, 01:21 PM) So, now you people get why Inzaghi is treated badly, huh? Didn't you learn anything from last summer's friendlies? When Taiwo "put Robben in his pocket"?
Missed the last 15 minutes, does anyone have a extended highlights version of the game? Taiwo was showing a lot of promise in pre-season before getting injured against Juve in the Berlu trophy. It's only normal for people to get excited like that over a new signing, especially someone who came for free and with a lot of promise. I never said it was ok for the way Allegri has treated him, certainly not ok to leave him out of the CL list since that is basically the only thing he still plays for these days. But you have to admit when enough is just enough. Pippo was struggling big time imo, and the only reason he didn't completely get flattened was through his sheer determination alone. Pippo never really used to have any problems coming off long lay offs, not even just last season, but right now, it's obvious that he hasn't been fully fit for a long time. I personally want to see him stay at Milan this Jan and retire at the end of this season, hopefully a champion. QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Jan 5 2012, 01:35 PM) I'm trying to tell that it's ridiculous to judge someone, even a 50 year old player, based on one friendly. People here tried to convince me Taiwo is great because he marked Robben brilliantly at the Audi Cup and prevented him from doing us any damage.
Same here...to say all comes down to yesterdays match that proved Inzaghi is finished is ridiculous to me. As I said above you cannot compare Taiwo to Pippo. Pippo's body obviously cannot keep up anymore, his mind still works at a million miles a second but his body cannot co-operate. You can see all the possibilities he's conjuring up for himself when he's in an "Inzaghi" position, but he just cannot seem to accomplish it

Well, I'm not gonna give my judgment according to one friendly match, that's all. And the fact that Pippo hasn't played more then 8 minutes this season should also count in. His problems may also derive from a lack of match practice. Taiwo may have woken up someones dreams, but it was foolish to build arguments around a friendly match which in the end told you nothing or very little - han you're the one who's telling us over and over again that those friendlies usually don't mean anything. I'm obviously not comparing Pippo to Taiwo, I'm comparing the approach, or better the need to make final assessment based on 30 or 90 minutes. Han, again, you're the one who's decided to wait till the last few legs to state if Juventus is a real title contender (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) - so stick with the patient accumulation of individual assessments.

The problem is Filippo, that Pippo just does not have that time anymore, Allegri will most likely not even give him Coppa time. This friendly meant a lot, and not because I'm saying it, but watching Pippo yesterday simply showed me how important that friendly was for him, and had he scored his celebration would have been better than the CL winning goal celebration, simply this is on a personal level and he had that single opportunity to prove himself to Allegri. Usually I always say that these friendlies don't mean anything or it's too soon to tell, but he simply does not have the time, and that is why it was so important

Which is ridiculous, isn't it? Giving a living legend one friendly to prove himself for what?
Why wouldn't he give Inzaghi the time? What does it hurt to let Emanuelson stay on the bench and put Pippo in for the last 10-15 minutes against an already beaten Serie A/CL team? I'd agree, if Tevez or Pato are on the bench, sure, they should normally get the nod.
But if they are unavailable, why not? It's only malice, I fail to see it differently. Pippo clearly was fit for at least 20 minutes in a bunch of matches we lacked strikers as Pato/Robs/Cassano were injured. Why not play him then?
In the end, you think it's fair and alright to give him this match as last chance, and then not give him even Coppa time for the rest of the season?

Obviously I don't agree with it, but I simply got that feeling from the way Pippo played. I never agreed with him being excluded from the CL list, that was lower than low, especially when I saw Rino on that list seeing as he was disqualified for the entire group stage. What I meant in my initial posts is that I understand why he's been held back recently, he just doesn't look physically fit enough
