(IMG:http://www.marca.com/elementosPortada/fotosPortada/2008/06/06/alves.jpg)

After signing Piqué (5,5 M/euros), Cáceres (16,5 M/euros), Seydou Keita (14 M/euros), BREAKING NEWS in Spain say Barcelona completed the sign of Daniel Alves for 32 M/euros.

Nothing official yet but expected to be announced on the next hours.

Here it goes. One of my favourite players to one of the teams I hate. Damn. It's becoming typical.

Sure why not, I'd take 30 years old D.Alves for 7/10M€ anytime (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
He'll be our next Cafu and probably play until 35/36 years old (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I am kind of saddened that the Barca of last season didn't do much. A team with so many stars, from the defense to the strikers, it was one hell of a team. Plus the fact that Ronaldinho started from the bench in some instances tells you a lot about that team.

Ah well ... The new season is upon us and it will be interesting to see how Barca's new president (if elected) will do. Moreover, Valencia will be a team to look closely at this summer too, as they have so much layers who might be put on the market (one of which is Baraja one of my favourite players in La Liga) ...

It's not that Galliani doesn't like them. I don't know if you remember Jose Mari ... He plays in Villareal now (i think), he was very good, but when he came to Milan he just flopped.

Carlo and Galliani (technical and administrative staff) both rate Sergio Ramos and if he was made available, make no mistake Milan would pounce on him in a heart-beat.

Liverpool paid good money for Morientes. But he was not that good there. Some years after they break the bank for Torres and we all know what happened - they got the best foward around.

True, hence it is a cliche ... So if (for the sake of example) Milan get Sergio Ramos, he might flourish given his experience and is physically able to handle Serie A. So there are exceptions to the rule, nonetheless it remains a cliche.

Dos Santos to Tottenham for just €6 million...

It was obvious from the very beginning that he would struggle in competing with Bojan for a starting place...

thats like saying if kaka was put on sale real would be in pole position. Thats unrealistic.

SR is very very good and possibly next maldini but there is no way to get him. We have to look at realistic transfers. Right now valencia can be raided but we are not interested. David villa is much better than adebayor/gomez/berbatov and is 27 yet somehow were not even trying. Same with silva. Instead of signing maggio, go for silva. But at the end of the day my words count for nothing so there is no point speaking (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

Galliani already has decided who he is going for and would not change his decision even if he got a death threat.

No matter who they sign, I doubt Guardiola can forge a team with them... but that remains to be seen.

Alves is the best full-back in Europe. He has been at the top in the past three seasons.

Keita is also a very good signing!

QUOTE
Barca official Soriano: "Adebayor is out goal, we are convinced of reaching a deal with Arsenal soon."

After trying to follow Juve striker David Trezeguet, it seems as though Barca have stopped their pursuit and shifted their attention and strength to landing Milan target Emanuel Adebayor.

Firan Soriano (spell), one of the three advisers to Laporta, and the financial manager of Barca had stressed that Adebayor was the main target of Barca: "It is obvious that Trezeguet is a great striker, but he is not in out plans, and we have not entered into negotiations with Juve. And the reason for that is that we have a goal in this transfer session and it is Adebayor."

And he assured the public about the possibility of reaching a deal with Arsenal, he said: "In Barca we have complete faith that our negotiations will succeed with the Gunners, even if their club couldn't guarantee an alternative for Wenger!"

Sorry zd, but gotta agree with dst here. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Ramos is Spain's best defender as of today, but has years to go before he steps up to be termed a legend. For me less than 1% of all the professional players earn that right.

Puyol is easily Spain's best defender. Or should I say the best defender that plays for Spain... ?

Well you could have meant Ramos' reproductive organ for all I know... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) the thing is you said he is a legend and I assume you meant he is a football or Real legend neither of which is true.
And you're right I don't like it. I despise his c_nty mug and his arrogant attitude but he certainly will become a legend if he keeps up.

Before the Euro 2008 Ronaldo was the clear favorite, but after it... I think everyone agrees he couldn't deliver one/tenth of what he did for Man U last season. after all performing in big tournaments count a lot in deciding the winner of these awards. Casillas had a stunning season with Real and a stunning tournament with Spain. hope it's not going to be overlooked... Ronaldo might still win it, but I think it won't be convincingly.

Well Real Madrid did flop in the CL...while Man U trumped. So it looks even. I'd go with CR. Simply coz he's a more visible figure than Casillas. And I know what the press would do if he were overlooked.

I can't even think of another player that deserves it really. Casillas maybe? But UEFA seem to rule it mainly on Champions League performances, where Ronaldo won it and finished top scorer.

The Euro and World Cup competitions largely take part in this decision but there was no one that really stood out last month... Casillas was not even his team's second best player.
There really is no opponent for CR in this edition. I don't like him but what the ****, he was on fire all season long!

There really is no opponent for CR in this edition. I don't like him but what the ****, he was on fire all season long!

Ohdear ohdear. Things are getting...interesting...in Barcelona.

Nearly half of the club's board resigned today after Joan Laporta refused to step down (he'd lost the no-confidence vote by 60%, but a 2/3 majority is needed to force him out).

This one may turn into the drama of the summer.

link to sport.es article in which there are links to a whole bunch of other articles explaining the situation in detail.

Why should they stop producing PS3's!?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Both consoles are going to have the same third-party titles and the only difference will be home made games like Gran Turismo and Gears of War. BUT Blu-ray will win the battle with HD-DVD. Why? Because the porn industry is supporting the former... I'm not joking! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Of course at that point a burner will be introduced that will be able to burn both formats, like what happened with DVR -/+ but the X360 will be "stuck" with HD-DVD. Well that will only affect you if you use your console as a movie player which I don't so...

And then there's Wii which offers a whole different experience and many more original or exclusive titles...

I miss SEGA's consoles... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I don't like Sony and I don't like any Playstation and certainly it's not worth investing that much when there are other choices but when there are other electronic devices that are crap like iPhone and cost more while worth much less than it then I think its price tag is justified.

But Apple has the best marketing division in the world. They could sell much worse devices than the iPhone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

And the PS3 IS a waste of money. A friend of mine has one and my opinion on it is: It's too big, it's too heavy and sooo uninspired. Just a hardware upgrade with internet compared to the PS2.

Actually, Apple has made shut up! The new iPhone costs 199USD! That's nothing! wow!!

Yeah... that's the description I'd give for the X360 also... but I guess when you look at the PS3's price you'd like it to at least be an espresso machine too... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Yes, PS3 is a waste of money... specially to MS fan-boys.

I've it since last November and I'm in love with PS3. Gran Turismo, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid 4 (this one just blows away the competition) + the likes of Pro Evolution, GTA (of course), Motorstorm, etc.

It's heavy? Well, if you want something to take everywhere just buy a Nintendo DS or a PSP.

The online it's ok and free. The blu-ray was another battle won by Sony so I'm pretty satisfied with overall performance of my PS3.

Should have? you mean there's no chance of seeing Messi in the Olympics anymore?... though what Barca are doing here is disgusting and against the rules, this will only increase Brazil's chance, it's good for something. this will damage Argentina not only technically but also mentally... Messi is simply irreplaceable.

^^^

That's exactly what Barca are thinking too. Messi is irreplaceable. And if I get it right, they're willing to let him go for the second leg of their match provided they win the first leg convincingly.

Not trying to justify Barca though. I don't think their team is so bad, that they can't win a CL qualification without Messi.

Why is it against the rules? If I were Barca I would also forbid my MvP to go and play some useless tournament when the club needs to pass Cl qualification? The clubs pay a lot of money for their players and should count on them in such situations.
And who said it's against the rules? Sepp Blabla? I'm (for one) with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on this one. the Olympic games aren't a FIFA tournament and are not embedded in the FIFA official calendar of events. Means the clubs can decide whether they want to let their players leave or not. Anyway....there's going to be a decision concerning this issue next week as Schalke and Bremen have called for a decision by the CAS (Court Of Arbitration For Sport). Hope they strengthen the right of the clubs.

Real jerseys hardly change. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Which is unsurprising as they've got a white as their home kit. Usually, it's just a few changes here and there and they're ready with the new season jersey.

Thanks for posting, though.

The other day everybody was talking about this because Madrid's first fixture is in Coruna. A place where they didn't get a single win in the last decade or so.

I think it's becoming obvious as the time goes by...

Cristiano » Madrid
Robinho » Chelsea

Don't think anyone's going to be scoring 30+ goals a season at Real, though.

Don't think anyone's going to be scoring 30+ goals a season at Real, though.

He doesn't need to. United squad is nothing compared to Madrid's one.

I mean, just look at their midfield for next year:
- Diarra, Gago, Guti, Sneijder, Van der Vaart, Drenthe, Robben and Cristiano Ronaldo [Baptista is probably leaving and I'm not counting on De La Red]

Bit scary isn't it? Now the possible XI:

------------------ Casillas --------------
Ramos - Cannavaro - Pepe - Marcelo
------------------- Diarra ---------------
------------Sneijder -- V.d.Vaart -----
- C.Ronaldo ------------------- Robben
----------------- v.Nistelrooy ----------

Bench: Dudek, Heinze, Gago, Drenthe, Raul, Guti, Saviola...

That's just too much. Pro Evolution, Football Manager team ffs.

I heard something but I think nowadays both hate Ferguson so they're OK. lol

@zd: No underground info. It's just what the player wants.

PS: It seems that Reyes is going to be loaned to Benfica. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Those feckers are getting some players: Aimar, Reyes...

Well, I still hope the deal won't go through as I'm not sure if all these stars can play together and more importantly, I'm not sure if Schuster can handle the situation. Madrid will be back to Galactico era if Ronaldo comes... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

Madrid have 5 Dutch players now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

If Ronaldo arrives, there will be too much ego in already too big squad

QUOTE (Top Twenty Transfers Of The Summer)
1. Rafael van der Vaart (Hamburg to Real Madrid)

A lifelong Barcelona fan and one of the best playmakers in the world today, how Madrid managed to sign him for nine million euros I don't know. What is even more baffling is how Hamburg let him go at that price (even if clauses could raise it to 13m). I would probably have put him up here even if he had cost 15 million. A downright steal, and just the kind of person who will add to Bernd Schuster's team without destroying it (get the hint?).

And not what other media named as transfer fee. As far as I know it's more like 13 million. Plus, he had a buy out clause so that any club could have bought him for 1,5 million in 2009.

With the amount of Dutch currently at Madrid, I think it puts them in pole position.

Naah,..I'll give him a chance with Van Basten's Ajax. I wish them all the best this season..

If they prove themselves, they can both join Milan in future.
