Milan Target Mystery Man
AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that the European champions are on the verge of a major transfer coup.
Just three days after the Rossoneri won Europe's biggest club prize for the seventh time, the club bankrolled by former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi is plotting for the future.
Ancelotti told a press conference: "Last summer there were not many players who wanted to come to Milan but there are more now.
"There's one none of you would suspect and if I was to tell you the world would end. We are delighted that he wants to play for Milan."
The coach gave no clues as to the identity of the mystery man.
Former FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldinho has previously been linked with a move to the Italian club by the press.

I half wonder if it's someone from one of the Italian clubs. Maybe Zlatan (who's had a bit of a falling out with the Inter leadership according to the Italian press) or one of the heavy hitters from Roma, though not Totti. Then again, perhaps not. Maybe it's someone from Spain or England.

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ May 26 2007, 08:32 PM) I think he mistakenly put 'not'. This hasn't been one of Madrids best defensive season's in their history for no reason. When you have Ramos, Carlos and Salgado on the back line with you, you end up left on your own 99% of the time. Yep, but we don`t need Canna here...he is superb, maybe better than Nesta, but too old..

The idea of football is to build for now, not for the future (That's what youth teams are for.) If we sign oldies every year, who cares? EVERY single year we'll have an experienced side, and who knows, some youth players may come through so we'll have a good balance. Fabio is welcome. QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ May 26 2007, 07:30 PM) I'm 99% sure that this 'mystery' player will be an attacking player, to me it could only mean 1 of the Barca boys (Eto'o or R10) or Sheva. As for Canna, he and Nesta are simply unbreakable next to eachother so no matter what age he is I welcome him with open arms. Just imagine this: Oddo--Nesta--Canna--Zambrotta The Azzurri back line at club level, simply amazing. And with the seasons those 2 had in Spain we'll probably get them both for less then £15 million

everyone here are naming obvious names that have all been bounced around if it's a mystery man, then it is somebody that hasn't been linked with us personally, i don't have a clue, all though i am curious to see how this "math problem" works out (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) my random guess...wayne rooney, ha ha ha

QUOTE (pKillerMax @ May 26 2007, 09:26 PM) You see there is this paradox. If I tell you, you will no longer be curious and you will dismiss it just as others. If I don't tell you, you will think that I'm fooling around. I have no connections or an inside man. All I did was read between the lines and approach this mystery like a math problem (Anyone seen the show numb3rs?). When you have all the facts straight and compare it with what you have been given, you can find the answer. I will tell you, but I just wanna go over the whole thing one more time. Plus, there is a cliffhanger to the problem as Ancelotti has only indicated the player's interest in playing for us. Nothing has been said about if we are actually going after him or not which could turn out disappointing. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Oh come on just tell us!! (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Galliani just confirmed that there WILL be a big name signing and it will ba an attacker. So is the guy you think it's going to be an attacker? Maybe an attcking midfielder with big teeth?

QUOTE (Kaka Is Brilliant @ May 26 2007, 10:22 PM) It's blatantly Shevchenko (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Nah it's most likely Ronaldinho "There's one none of you would suspect and if I was to tell you the world would end. We are delighted that he wants to play for Milan." Ah too confusing! It can't be Ronaldinho though if Carlo is saying the words 'There's one none of you would suspect and if I was to tell you the world would end.' Ronaldinho would be the first to come to mind, so I can't see it being him. Or Carlo is just playing mind games to divert the attention off the R10 deal. This is very confusing (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) All we know for sure is that a big name attacker will be coming. Imo these are the only ones that I would consider as a big name attacker who will be the biggest transfer of the summer Ronaldinho Eto'o Sheva Henry Messi (never going to happen in a million years) From that list I wouldn't want Henry or Sheva, both will be over 30 and we've already got Ronaldo who is on the same level as them, we need someone that could give us a new dimension to the attack, and clearly that would either be R10 or Eto'o

Players it can be: Messi: One of the three amigos will definetly be going, everyone thinks R10 or Eto'o, maybe it's Messi? Zlatan: Maybe he's saying it's so out of the blue because he doesn't think we'd go for a such a high profiled 'bad boy' from our big rivals? Henry: We've hardly been linked with him, and it would be a huge shock if we did join. Adriano: The fact he plays for Inter, and is such a big name player. We've not been linked with him either. Shock? I think so. David Villa: Is he going to Real, United, Liverpool or Arsenal.. Maybe it's none of those and it's Milan? I can't really think of many others, RVN, Rooney and Drogba come to mind, the first 2 are no hopers, we've been linked with Drogba. Help us pKill! I was thinking Villa a minute ago, but I really doubt it... The main one that would make more sense to me is Tevez, but will just have to see. Hmm how on earth would a huge player meet with a Milan representative and not get caught/linked or anything. I'm sure this whole thing of a player 'you don't suspect' is indeed mind games. On another note why are we so sure it's an attacker?

QUOTE (mishale @ May 26 2007, 11:00 PM) I think one between Villa, Torres, Henry or Teves. Any of them would be a good surprise. I forgot about Tevez! Definately would be up there with the others I listed. Torres and Villa will most likely not work out for us, can't see them having it in them to play in Serie A, especially Torres

Not going to be stupid and try and do what we did with Ronaldo with Raul or something?!!! Ah it's just random names I'm completely lost, although Tevez does seem to stand out.

OK, I like what you did there han. The player in question is of course an attacker. And as we have been told, it's going to be a big signing. For example, Villa might not be on the same level as Henry or Eto'o, but he would be a big signing for any club. So, the list of qualified candidates is bigger than we think. Gila was a big singing remember? (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Now, let's list all the big signings that could occur: (in no particular order) Tevez, Eto'o, Henry, Rooney, Villa, Torres, Klose, Huntelaar, Ibrahimovic, Trezeguet, Ronaldinho, Messi, Suazo, Van Nistelrooy, Drogba, Adriano, Robinho and maybe a couple more who I can't remember, but that's not important. Now, between the above players, which ones have been linked with us? Tevez, Eto'o, Torres, Ibrahimovic, Trezeguet, Ronaldinho ( (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ), Suazo, Drogba, Adriano, Robinho. That leavs us with: Henry, Rooney, Villa, Klose, Huntelaar, Messi and Van Nistelrooy. The player you are looking for is one of the above. By considering the history of Milan's signings and the player's desire and likings, you can get pretty damn close. I knew though, as soon as I read the article and some others and I hope the deal goes through. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

QUOTE (mishale @ May 26 2007, 11:12 PM) I'd never burn anything to do with Italy. I love the country. Plus I have a man-crush on Matrix. I knew though, as soon as I read the article and some others and I hope the deal goes through. I can not see in any way that Rooney will leave United. Klose is a big possibility, he wants to leave and has stated he wants to prove himself away from Germany. I hope it's not him though. David Villa, Henry, Huntelaar, Messi and RVN. I hope it's RVN or Messi. PLEASE BE ONE OF THESE. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) My guess: Huntelaar. I wouldn't be disappointed if this went through either.

Having seen Villa of late he'd be my ideal signing.
I read Messi has a £100mil buy out clause! Surely it won't be him.
I'd say Huntelaar out of Max's list, because he's dutch! Following footsteps as Cruyff, Van Basten?

From those the most real options are Henry who wants to leave, and Klose, Huntelaar and Villa who need bigger teams. BTW we were linked with Henry. Rooney, Messi and Van Nistelrooy 100% won't move IMO

Ok ... After reading through .. I have noticed a couple of things when u guys were listing the players; Like, Rooney, Villa, Trezeguet, Nistlrooy, Huntelar etc .. I mean sure they have been vital for their teams success. But they aren't the best of the best, the world wont end with them at Milan. A player like Henry, R10, Etoo, Drogba, or Shevchenko would set the whole world's sights on Milan ! Sure, we have been linked with them on a weekly basis .. But these would be the signings that Carlo was talking about. I mean; Villa, Huntelar, Saviola, whoever .. I wouldnt be surprised if they came to Milan!! They dream of playing a club like Milan every day (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Whilst R10 and co. are players who are inbedded in their teams, as Sheva was in Milan, before he transfered to London

I still half-think that the mystery man plays in Italy and that /that/ is the reason Carletto is being so coy. Wouldn't it just burn the Merda if Zlatan were to play for Milan? (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) [I really hope it is NOT Henry. He's quite talented, but (sorry, Locke!) I think he's WHINY and he dives. I didn't much like the comments he made about the Azzurri after the world cup.]

out of killer's list you guys are still pulling the names out of people who have some sort of tie with us...whether it be their where they are from or people we have been linked to in the past. i, honestly believe, the one signing that would stop the world would be wayne rooney. he is the heart and soul of man u, and to have someone like him leave would make everyone in the football world's jaw drop. he has never been linked with us and it would definitely be a surprise that he would actually be interested in leaving man u to come to milan. he's the only big name striker that hasn't been linked with us in the past, and if it's anyone other than him then carlo is talking out of his (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

(IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Well at first I thought it would be Pato. He would be cheaper than all the names you guys came up with. He's Brazillian. He's talented and he's got skills. He can easily play second punta. But then Carlo talks about ending the world. Could be a typical Carletto abstraction referring to his acquisition as a great thing for Milan and ending the world. But my fervent hope is that it would be Quaresma. Quaresma+Kaka+Pirlo+Ronaldo

In my opinion "the world would only stop" when Milan would get Henry, Messi and probably Rooney. Every other possibility wouldn`t be such a big suprise. And Wayne id not likely to be the one who wants Milan.
Why is everyone here letting out Luca Toni?? I have a bad opinion of him, but if you allready mention Drogba, RvN and the others, Toni has to be included..

Villa/ Huntelaar/ Trezeguet/ Klose are not big name signings that would end the world imo. QUOTE (pKillerMax @ May 26 2007, 11:19 PM) Imo the most controversial would be Messi or Zlatan. Messi just for the fact that jaws would drop to actually see Barca selling him no matter what the price was. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ibra wants Milan move! Sunday 27 May, 2007
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zlatan Ibrahimovic has approached Milan to ask for a transfer, hints Carlo Ancelotti. “Nobody would suspect him. If I reveal his name, it’ll be chaos…â€
It was no secret that the Rossoneri were close to signing former Juventus man Ibra last summer, but because they had to wait until their Champions League preliminary round was completed to know their strategy, Inter got there first.
Now that he has been a key figure in the Nerazzurri’s Scudetto triumph and Milan are champions of Europe, there are claims he wants to move on.
“Many champions have approached us. They all want us now,†smiled Ancelotti in yesterday’s Press conference.
“That includes one player who is totally above suspicion. If I reveal his name, it’ll be chaos…â€
The newspapers this morning all agree on one thing – that man is Inter hero Ibrahimovic.
Already linked with Real Madrid, the real reason for his contract renegotiation problems is a desire to cross the city like Ronaldo, Andrea Pirlo and Clarence Seedorf before him.
The Swede has reportedly asked for a substantial pay increase from the current £4m per season to at least £5.5m.
He also bitterly criticised the club this week, comparing them unfavourably to the disgraced Juventus side led by Luciano Moggi.
“My agent is currently negotiating a wage increase at Inter. I hope Massimo Moratti is as decisive now as when he signed me,†explained the former Ajax man.
“At Juve, they were a lot clearer on certain things. Moggi was removed because we won too much. It was all jealousy. When I arrived at Inter, the first thing I advised Moratti was to bring in Luciano and change their mentality. Luckily, we won anyway…
“They are two great teams, but that Juve had something more. There was a sense of cohesion that still isn’t present at Inter,†he told ‘Libero’ newspaper.
“Last year when someone played badly, the other teammates lifted him up. Here it is the opposite – whoever plays below par drags the rest of the squad down with him. Inter are still learning what it takes to be at the top.â€
This transfer story could bring relations between the two ‘cugini’ to an all-time low. Matters are already extremely tense after the clubs insulted each other at a distance during their trophy celebrations.
ibra not ruled out!!
