5 matches till season end, but it shouldn't affect the outcome. I think we can all vote now, it's "player of the season".

QUOTE (CHU-LIP @ Apr 23 2011, 12:24 AM) To be honest, it can only be Thiago Silva. Yup, the monster. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/king.gif) Second place Ibra, and then Nesta. If it were not because of the these three we could very well have lost our marbles up till now. Certainly guys like KPB, MVB and Abate played their parts, and surely Pato too, but for the sake of this poll, there can only be one. QUOTE (CHU-LIP @ Apr 23 2011, 12:24 AM) BTW. Robinho deserves to be listed, instead of Pirlo (out a lot), Seedorf (inconsistent) or Van Bommel (sure, been good, but is new). The others are Well said, buddy. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) I am not sure he will get many votes, but the guy did play enough to earn a call.

Silva has been the most consistent player for us this season but Ibrahimovic has won us more points. So I went for the latter because I don't think this award is for the most consistent player but for the most valuable one.

Well, defenders can't score much, but they prevent many goals. I think Thiago did exactly this; even more the Ibra. That's why I picked him!

QUOTE (CHU-LIP @ Apr 23 2011, 01:47 AM) Thiago Silva is our most valuable player in my honest opinion. Defenders often got lack of appreciation compared to attackers. I believe Thiago Silva's importance to Milan is massively underrated (not by everyone). Come on guys you know all my favorite players are defenders so it's not like I don't know of the neglect they get. I just think Ibra did more I'm not saying Silva's defensive contributions are not worth much.

We'd score enough goals to win games, plus we still have Nesta back there. Without Zlatan, we still wouldn't conceed many, but we wouldn't have scored enough to win the title. It's not just his goals either, I'd imagine Zlatan has to be high up on our assists too? 1. Ibrahimovic 2. Silva 3. Nesta So it's not like I'm under-appreciating defenders or anything.

I just think Ibra did more I'm not saying Silva's defensive contributions are not worth much. You're post didn't say anything about Silva being valuable, winning us points. It sounded Zlatan is like that, and Silva not so much. Own fault. Anyway, we seem to disagree. Which is understandable when discussing defender vs attacker. So it's not like I'm under-appreciating defenders or anything. I disagree! Our defense with or without Silva is so a big difference. Nesta isn't what he used to be. Silva is our monster there, he is necessary! Almost every game Silva is saving our butt time after time, being everywhere to make up for flaws of teammates, immense defensing, so damn important. With no Zlatan, we have Pato and Robinho... awesome attack! And also Cassano...

This conversation is a bit silly, because it's like if you voted for Silva I could say what about our attackers? Yet if you voted for Zlatan, I could say what about Silva? But if you voted for Silva I could say what about Abbiati? He never gets any credit as he's a GK, but if you voted for Abbiati I could say what about Abate? He's drastically improved of late but people still dislike him... and so on. It's all personal preference (IMG: style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Exactly, it either comes down to picking between defenders saving our behinds when attackers score a single goal in 90 minutes, or attackers going the extra mile and scoring one up when the defense is leaking goals. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Personally, I'd take the former, even though I know where dst is coming from. I just feel that our defense held up their end of the bargain more so than the attackers, and by defense I mean, Silva, Nesta, Abate, and even Abbiati. Zlatan or any of our attackers would have done diddlysquat if the defense was not as waterproof as this! This is what happened the last few seasons, we got a goal to the better, only to squander that chance in the last 10 minutes of the match. Come on people, you remember those days! Fact remains that defense wins the league, and attack wins tournaments. Saying Ibra was the 2nd most influential player through the season is no way near bad, considering the guy was banned for 8-10% of the matches after accumulating red cards, LOL. Jokes aside, whoever you choose is right - the top four, five players all were influential in where we are today!

Thiago 10 - Ibra 5
Not the most popular footballer in red and black, even at his best. I'm curious what will happen when he starts deteriorating.

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ May 20 2011, 01:56 AM) Thiago 10 Make that 11. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Undisputed winner. Ibra could have scored bundles of goals, but if the defense leaked as many at the back, then I am sure we would not have won the league. Even an extra couple of draws here and there, and we would have been sorry. But nice to see the guy getting recognition, not just from Milan fans but Europe overall. And then there are the cards. Thiago Silva - as a defender - has just 1 yellow card all season. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) A solitary yellow card, would you believe that. Just for comparison, Ibrahimović has what 8 yellows and 2 reds, something like that.

I don't like Ibra much but you sure gotta acknowledge his contribution prior to Robinho's. Binhos finishing still remained terrible all season long.

Yes, that has been said a million times now, but in pretty much everything else Robinho has been amazing, and he was a key player this season. Anywho, I didn't meant to say he was more important, I used the word ''obvious'' for reasons. If I had to order them, I would do Silva 1, Zlatan 2, Robinho 3.. (Abbiati 4?)

Accuracy is one of the EASIEST things to train!!!!!

QUOTE (il_diavolo_mtl @ May 22 2011, 01:28 AM) you still can't explain his woeful shot/goal ratio with rational arguments. well, I'm not trying to... yet he scored as much as Pato and Zlatan, hmmz... how is that possible then? Just like other stuff like his contribution in defending, building up, linking up, lots of work-rate and energy. Ah, it bugs me really people say when talking about Robinho that his finishing sucks, and that's all, no word more, just like, forgetting or not noting ALL the good stuff he does, and that's A LOT. Defending? You actually mean he made a contribution in defending?
And Robinho has 33/14 while Ibra has 29 and Pato only 24. But that isn't so important. He could have had 24 goals if he'd been more professional. It's his unprofessional approach and easy going chance wasting that bugs me.

I only answered with them back. Initially I didn't talk about stats, I know how deceptive they can be. The real story I'll always remember how Robinho almost made me jump and pull my hair with his sitter missing. Just remember Brescia. This is something a 33/14 stat does not tell.

Questioning Robinho's professionalism is, pardon me, a very disgraceful thing. The guy has pretty much the highest working rate of our attacking line. He's always played for the team, sacrificed himself in positions which aren't ideal to his playing style and he has never spurred any negative behavior. The guy has been exemplary in such aspect and you should never question his professionalism. His chance wasting isn't due to a laid back attitude, the guy simply feels too much pressure when in front of the goal. That, and perhaps a little bit of rustiness he might have accumulated in the last year or so, when he wasn't really playing on high levels. And even despite that, his season was great. Just imagine how much more useful he could become if his finishing improved, which I'm certain it will happen starting from next season. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

To be quite honest, yes, you're right. He deserves some honorary credits. After all the scudetto was a team effort. No one should be left out as unimportant, even Oddo's cross contributed.

Well, I can understand you, and everyone who likes Robinho. Hell, I also liked him, and was positive about him joining Milan. But his finishing is frustrating, and IMO, it really does make him look worse then he really is. It's a big problem for me, because I see this as a crucial question of his purpose. Sure, he's running around, giving passes, winning space and making also assist. I don't deny it. But he has to start hitting in sitters to be treated as a top player.

QUOTE (Kazdoodle @ May 23 2011, 07:09 PM) Ah what a interesting forum we have here. well ehh what you guys do at least its civil. ill just um sit here and be doing.....stuff. Yup, that's what I've been saying for years now. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/king.gif) This place is one the best when it comes to civilized sharing of opinions and differences. Heck, we had a one member who had a bit of a temper problem and was banned, and another few who wanted some fun and frolics, but got bored and left, LOL. There are plenty of places where one can do it the hard and fast way, but here it's usually peace and quiet.

QUOTE (Jack Bauer @ May 23 2011, 08:58 PM) Silva, no doubt. He's the best CB in the world IMO, was very consistent this season and our defense tied Juve's record for the lowest goals conceded in the league. Juve's record? Isn't Milan holding that record for conceding only 18 goals in both Champions Cup and Serie A?

I think it's 1993 when we conceded 15 goals in 34 league games. Capello era. Maldini-Billy (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
