OK, no one moved to start this thread so I'll do it.

Cagliari are so far the only team we haven't scored a goal against this season. I can see them coming and playing a typical small Italian team's football; defending and bothering our weak defense on the counter attacks.

It's not going to be an easy game... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

What's your track record like with match threads? If we lose it's all your fault, no matter how much you try to pin it on Carlo and/or Kaladze and/or Seedorf.

I've not kept track of it but I guess it's not very good!
As long as Kaka and Bonera are there, Seedorf and Kaladze's liabilities wont matter that much. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Cagliari are playing some very good football this year. I think it would be a mistake to stick them with the generic 'small team' label. They're close to (if not in) a UEFA Cup position and they beat the gobbi in Turin (rather easily too).

They've got a good attack - Jeda, Matri and Acquafresca - and Milan's defenders are going to need to be awake and paying attention.

EDIT: Saccani will referee the game.

Not that good, unfortunately. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) The track record, I mean.

Bonera is actually half a defender than Kaladze - the Georgian falls flat on his face because of all his stupid, tasteless mistakes he makes once or twice every match. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I only wish he had a twin brother who was more beautiful, and made less mistakes. I'd have swapped, eyes closed.

Gosh. Look at that projected lineup: there are two strikers.

However will we stand it?

i hope we play 4-4-2 not the 4-3-1-2 seedrof plays much better in deeper role seedorf on left side becks on RM pirlo and flamini in centre with flamini proceting pirlo and assisiting the defence with 2 stikers pato behind pippo

+1. it could work:

Pato ----- Pippo

Seedorf ---- Flamini ---- Pirlo ---- Becks

Janku ---- Maldini ---- Bonera ---- Zambro

Abbiati

Easy win for us .. If Inter lost or tied i would say we would choke because every chance we get to make up ground we have never taken advantage of.

I feel our master Carlo will be up 1-0 @ half time and then put in Emerson and take out our lone striker Pato/Pippo for the second goal and kill the match.

Since we're all putting in 'hope posts' I'm going for this formation

Zambro--Bonera--Maldini--Janku
Beckham--Pirlo--Flamini
Dinho--Viudez
Pato

That's a half each for Becks and Seedorf with Viudez providing the speed we're missing because of Kaka's absence, Dinho being the creative mind in attack without having to worry about tasks such as running ( rolleyes: ) and Pato pretty much picks himself out in attack

Now that's a hopeful lineup (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

It would be the same as having Kaka start. Kaka might be tall but he's not an areal presence. At least we could recover some speed that we've been missing since Kaka's injury with Viudez instead of Seedorf who is somewhat of a liability playing in that attacking midfielder role because he's slow and more then that likes to slow down the play himself with the back passes and the standing on the ball for 5 minutes before releasing it

MILAN: Abbiati; Zambrotta, Bonera, Maldini, Favalli; Pirlo, Flamini, Jankulovski; Beckham, Seedorf, Inzaghi.

CAGLIARI: Marchetti; Pisano, Bianco, Lopez, Matheu; Fini, Conti, Biondini; Cossu; Jeda, Acquafresca.

What a weird lineup (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Beckham as an AM ...

I bet the age average is around something like 32 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif)

Cagliari will probably beat us.

The good just keeps getting better. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) The injuries, I mean. We should never have let Paloschi go on loan! At least he was fast, had heart, and was desperate to score goals, beside being young. Could have helped with these constant injuries we get to our players. Bah!

I think Carlo will not risk anything for the league anymore. had we still been in the title race, Pato would have started thi s game (Carlo said he would). looks like he (along with Kaka) is being rested for the UEFA Cup......

Hopefully what you say is true! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Me? I can't really tell. If there's one thing I've learned is that there is nothing that can be said with absolute certainty in today's football. This is true with everything else, more so with world football. Still, like I said, I hope what you say be the case.

I think it's Dida, Ambro, Kaladze, Antonini, Emerson, Cardacio and Viudez.

We really need some speed in attack. There is no one that can run with the ball up there and we're really losing ground because of this

If we have any hope of winning this, Seedorf, Beckham, Pirlo and Janku should pile on the shots.

Because there is no way we're going to score through this slow build up

To be fair to Seedorf he has no one to play off of

He's getting marked by 3 players whenever he gets the ball, the fact that he doesn't have any pace really works against him

Maybe Beckham should push further up

Thank you, Han. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/king.gif) If it weren't for you, I'd never have thought believed we were playing a match! Come on guys, some more comments, running commentary would not go wasted, now would it? I don't think we're playing that bad to allow one guy to talk to himself.

Inzaghi with another simple miss from a superb Janku pass in the box. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) I'm going to grab something to eat!

Exaggerated as usual, but yes, we're too slow.

Seedorf at this point lacks of luck and support. The booing maybe is deserved in a way, but I don't think it helps.
Cagliari is a tuff team, as expected. And when your 4 strikers miss, problems are more then just probable.

Without Kaka and Pato, there's no such thing as speed in Milan's attack. hopefully Viudez gets a decent chance...

If we continue at this rate in the league we may even finish as low as 4th.

agreed. What i dont understand is why does carlo have to drop both ronaldinho and pato. I mean, he is pretty much expecting to lose this match and giving people playing time.

You have to be kidding me... what is Seedorf doing out there? I guess he is going to be taken out, right? I mean... he's Cagliari's best player by far so since we have the chance to take him out we're going to do just that, right? It's common sense... really, if Carletto does not substitute him now I'm going to curse him every time I have the chance and whoever tell me says it's unfair is an idiot. It's as simple as that. He's stopping all our plays, he's giving the ball away 6 out of 7 times or so and he's slowing us down... what more do we need?

If Carletto had the balls he'd take him out and put Viudez on. The kid cannot do worse and we need his pace, I suppose he will at least run... I should have stopped at "If Carletto has the balls" though...

At least we see Jankulovski in the midfield! That's something.

Maybe Pato and Dinho are injured? (though Carlo himself said Pato would be ready to play)

Even in dire situation like this where almost all of our strikers are out injured, Carlo doesn't want to risk and play Viudez from the first minute. that's what I don't like about him. he is too wary.

Or maybe he sees something in a Seedorf-Beckham-Inzaghi attack that we don't... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I don't think we're playing bad, but having said that, we're way too slow and whenever we have the ball with space to run into we pass it and whatever momentum we might have built is lost.

Seedorf is playing badly yes, but the fat that he has no one to play off of and he isn't fast is really not halping. Pippo doesn't come down, not even to help out with simple lay offs so of course he's going to suffer up there completely alone

QUOTE (Bluesummers @ Feb 22 2009, 03:52 PM) *

Both him and Pato are out, now if this is because of injury or Carlo finally going off the deep end I don't know, with the points in the 3rd, 4th and 5th positions being so close we could easily find ourselves in fifth by next week if we don't win this. So if Pato and Dinho are just being rested for UEFA Cup play then it confirms that Carlo has finally lost his mind. Because this is just ridiculous. Pippo is simply not good enough anymore to play on his own up there

GOAL! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

I so wanted Seedorf to score so that you'd come up and tell me I was wrong. Yeah he's ****ed up our whole game and he's going to get away because of the goal?

He also did that gesture like he did think the fans' jeers were loud enough. Well the most important thing is, Ancelotti surely did not hear anything, Seedorf's going to be there in the next match. So fair.
