QUOTE Milan admit to Eto’o desireTuesday 5 June, 2007Milan chief Adriano Galliani has declared that the Rossoneri will make an offer for Barcelona's Samuel Eto’o. The latter has been heavily associated with the European champions and the Vice-President has today admitted that the Cameroon ace is a target. “Eto’o remains our primary objective, but we will not disturb Barcelona until the end of the Liga season [on June 17],†Galliani noted this afternoon. “However, next season’s squad will basically be the same as the group of players who have just ended this campaign. “A few players might come in, one in midfield and one in attack, but we are in no hurry as we are fine as we are.†The proposed arrival of Eto’o would increase the competition for a striking shirt next season and Galliani conceded that the club were ready to sell Alberto Gilardino. The latter is unhappy with the lack of faith being shown in him by the European champions and a divorce is seemingly on the cards. “I told him that the club would want him to stay,†added the official. “However, seeing as we can’t guarantee him a starting shirt and we didn’t appreciate his recent interview, I have given him permission to leave – so long as someone pays us £17m.†Gilardino is understood to be keen on a move to Juventus which has led to speculation that the Old Lady may offer David Trezeguet in return. “Trezeguet is a player who we really like, but we can’t exchange a player who was born in 1982 with one who is five years older.†Galliani also rubbished rumours of an Andriy Shevchenko swoop. “His return is more impossible than unlikely,†he added. “Thierry Henry? We were close to him after Sheva left but he demonstrated himself to be a great man. He wanted to stay loyal to the club who made him famous.†channel4 "Eto'o remains our primary objective!??" When exactly did he even become our primary objective? And what happened to Ronaldinho!?? (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) "We are fine as we are"?? Thank Paolo this is Galliani talking otherwise my brains would be on the wall by now... (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) I hope Gila WANTS TO stay! If not then it's best for both sides that he leaves... and we replace him. I think what Galliani means is that Trezeguet is not old enough for Milan! (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Oops on the last part! Sound like a fling... This feels like last year... I hope they prove me wrong!

So it's clear now. The big signing in attack will either be Eto'o or Thierry Henry.
Both are c@nts in their own ways imo. But I would prefer Eto'o simply because I think he is better at this point in time in the player's carreer and is younger. Think of the future Galliani.
And Gila SHOULD be kept. No use in selling him after all we went through to get him. Pippo might be our hero but he is NOT our future, Gila is.
Why sell an Italy NT striker when 24 years old to a club that is our competitior and felt it better to sell Zambrotta to Barca then us last summer for less money.
Simply stupid on Galliani's part.
Gila should be convinced of staying at all costs.

I don't think it is logical to call Galliani stupid (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) He has a PhD and has been with Milan for the past twenty (so) years, more than most of this forum's members actualy life span (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) He knows best. I agree with u that Gila shouldnt be sold, but since Gila actually stated to the press that he wants to move and this is also taking into consideration that Milan have given him two seasons to prove himself !! Whatever ur prediction might be, Milan cant run the risk of devoting presious time on the pitch for Gilardino to come through (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Gila should be convinced to stay ?! Why ?? Has he proved anything to us over the course of 2 years ?! We have Ronaldo now .. Bring in someone who can complement him and let the team flurrish. Enough with this Gilardino cr@p!

QUOTE (Porty @ Jun 5 2007, 09:54 AM) Ibra didn't get the microphone and sang to the entire San Siro "Milan, you sons of bit... GET IN!" when celebrating the title. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) You can't say the same about Etoo when celebrating the Barcelona's La Liga. (2 years ago) Eto'o talks a lot of crap. Ibra is like an uncontrollable moron. Both amazing players.

Especially, since he made an equally public apology about that public insult.
Or maybe I'm just being protective coz we might get him!!!
Look I know he's silly, but
1. I don't think he's selfish 2. I don't think he'll take much time to adapt to Serie A 3. I think this is Milan's way of showing the middle finger to R10 for stringing us along just so big bro could land Oli a fat contract

QUOTE AC Milan's Galliani Arrives To Sign Eto'o Liverpool's reputed bid of 60 Million euros for Barcelona's Sam Eto'o has been viewed as a step too far by other rival clubs hoping to sign the goal merchant. AC Milan's strongman, Galliani has stepped into the current transfer controversy surrounding Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o as he has reportedly arrived Barcelona to attempt a physical interference into the matter and to personally explain why the Catalans have to let Eto'o where the colours of AC Milan next season. Speaking, Gallaini said: "We hope to persuade Barcelona to let go and may probably have to wait till the end of the season to fully commence this process. We shall make a direct request to Barca for Eto'o". Samuel Eto'o has been as hot in the transfer news as a high profile player of his type should, with reports linking him to Manchester United, Liverpool, Cheslea, AC Milan and Inter Milan. Galliani says he also plans to hold talks with Real Madrid, but it is widely believed his main target is Samuel eto'o and the Real Madrid mention is meant to act as a detour to distract attention away from his primary aim. http://www.fcbarcelonablog.com/fcbarcelona...6/05/title_1239

QUOTE He then turned the attention to Samuel Eto'o, the Barcelona ace who is the hottest property in Europe this summer.
"Eto'o remains our primary objective, but we will not disturb Barcelona until the end of the Liga season," he said.
"However, next season's squad will basically be the same as the group of players who have just ended this campaign. A few players might come in, one in midfield and one in attack, but we are in no hurry as we are fine as we are."
Finally he gave his take on Gilardino's situation with the club.
"I told him that the club would want him to stay," said the Milan vice-president.
"However, seeing as we can't guarantee him a starting shirt, and we didn't appreciate his recent interview, I have given him permission to leave - so long as someone pays us £17million." I just... don't get 1 thing: since WHEN Eto'o is our primary objective? I always thought Ronaldinho was the one. About 2 years I think that. Basically no rumours linking Eto'o and Milan in the last months... at least I don't remember. This could be a strategy to bring Ronaldinho too... usually Galliani denies everything and this "We'll ask Barcelona for Etoo" is not usual. QUOTE (Porty @ Jun 5 2007, 06:54 PM) You can't say the same about Etoo when celebrating the Barcelona's La Liga. (2 years ago) Eto'o talked about a lot things in his autobiography! A lot about what happened in Madrid. Most of that I do believe some not. But even half of it is true I believe he did what he did absolutely rightfully!! QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Jun 5 2007, 09:18 PM) It's nothing to do with that. Henry's just very selfish, he stayed there because it's his team, he's the star. Not because they made him famous. In Milan he'd be 'just another player'. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Please... (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Try not to think Anti-Arsenalish for a second! How many chances to win something has he had with Arsenal and how many would he have with Barcelona!?? Reaching the CL final with THAT team was a one-off IMO!

OR He stays at Arsenal so it's all about HIM where HE is the star.

Why ?? Has he proved anything to us over the course of 2 years ?! We have Ronaldo now .. Bring in someone who can complement him and let the team flurrish. Enough with this Gilardino cr@p! Oh please! Galliani is known to get into a couple of messes (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) phd or no phd And Gila never said that he wanted to leave, but if he felt that someone would get chosen before him just because he is the new big name and not for his on pitch work then he would think about it. Nothing wrong in what he said just being honest. And I know you like you players experianced, but come one, Ronaldo will be turning 31 next year and Pippo 34, tell me how selling a 25 year old Italian NT striker would be smart??? And when I said stupid on Galliani's part I was referring more to the fact that he would most likely sell him to Juve, a direct competitor who saw it fit to sell Zambrotta to Barca last season for less money then we offered just so that they wouldn't sell him to us. I can't see the logic in that. Next season we need depth, Gila is hopefully smart enough to know that he will get enough playing time. Pippo and R9 are great, I'm not denying that but both are injury prone, Ronaldo is still trying to get back to his peak fitness and I personally can't see him lasting an entire season playing every 2 days, neither Pippo, and even if this world class striker comes in it won't be enough. Having a proven Serie A scorer in the squad would be the most ideal and there is no one more proven then Gila in Serie A in that age bracket. I know you don't like him and all but you seriously need to lay off his back sometimes, he's not disrespecting the club by what he's saying just wants competition for places to be fair and not based on names.

(IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Look at the time the Zambro-Thuram deal was announced... not only were we out of the CL but we would also start the season from -15!! That meant a probable 2 years without CL football... You think Zambro or Giuve were willing to wait!??

That meant a probable 2 years without CL football... You think Zambro or Giuve were willing to wait!?? Zambrotta actually said that this was the case in an interview a while back. And at the time inter and Juve formed some sort of friendly relatioship and us and Juve where going through a bit of an ongoing war of words through the midia. Zambrotta in this interview said himself that he preferred to go to Milan and that Juve sold him without consulting with him first. And the where his actual words, if you don't believe me look through the past threads and you will know what I'm talking about QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Jun 6 2007, 11:31 AM) Thank You (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif) @han .. Then on that note, why would u keep Gilardino ?? He is 25 and a Italian NT ?! Well Donadoni thinks that Pippo should start ahead of Gilardino, why shouldn't the club think the same (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Face it, Gilardino isn't living up to expectations ... I don't understand why u r still sticking with Gila ?? He hasn't lived up to expectation. That is all I can say and I believe that Gilardino wont be a Milan player by next season. Gilardino wasn't called up because he needed surgery to his knees! As know you like experiance and all but do you believe it's wise to sell Gila at 25 after all the money and trouble we went through to bring him and still keep faith in Pippo who only probably has just another year left in him. Imo that is not wise at all

That doesn't mean Giuve did not want to sell him to Milan... Plus the deal was made one month and a half before Milan were guaranteed CL footbal. And when we were actually allowed entrance in the CL we only had one week before the end of the transfer window... Do you honestly believe Zambrotta would have waited for that long and would risk playing in Serie B? Noone waited for Milan last year and that is a fact... Zambrotta can say whatever he feels like.

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Jun 6 2007, 08:54 PM) Did I say we should just stick with Pippo ?! No .. I am totally for getting another striker. Cuz Ronaldo and Inzaghi have proven themselves on the pitch, they find the net and found the faith from the fans (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Gilardino and Oliveira didn't ... Sell one, as it stands, Oliveira is satisfied on the bench (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Then when u sell Gilardino (If they sell him), Milan will already bring in an even bigger star. And we already would have Ronaldo, Inzaghi, and Oliveira. Which is enough for each player to get his fair share on the pitch (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Yeah I know you don't really like Gila (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) but let's not compare him with Oli, Gila has scored over 30 goals for us in 2 seasons Oli has just 3 in 1. To me Gila is the best option, and why should we sell him and get another striker? He is a seasoned pro in Serie A and next season everyone knows that we will have a full calender. Oli imo has only proved himself good enough in to Coppa. Next season if we manage to keep this forward line we will be set R9, Gila, Pippo, [world class striker] That will be enough to raotate and keep EVERYONE happy for the entire season.

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Jun 6 2007, 09:26 PM) It's not that I don't like Gilardino, it's that he gets on my nerves everytime he gets a clean break then blows it (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I always reiterated that if he wears the Milan shirt, I will support him. But if I was to consider swapping him for an alternative ?? Then yeah, in a heart beat .. Even if we are playing on multiple fronts (loads of games), we need someone who can tuck it in between the goal posts up front. p.s. I rate Oli even lower than Gilardino. It isn't about who I like and who I don't. I just said that Oli seems satisfied on the bench (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) That is what I meant, bringing him into the discussion, someone who can play second fiddle. The only problem is that Gila knows well enough how to 'tuck them in' that's why I would keep him in a heart beat, especially for Serie A matches. If we do sell him then he WILL have to be replaced, Oli does not cut it. And can you suggest anyone who is in Gila's age bracket with his scoring credentials in Serie A? (btw, this is not to patronize you, just to ask you a legit question, who could theoratically replace him) And on the Oli issue, how long do you think he will accept playing second fiddle? And with the wages we pay him, better to just sell him rather then letting him rot on the bench, really not worth it

QUOTE (han2503 @ Jun 7 2007, 12:59 PM) IF Zlatan where to come then it wouldn't be as a replacement for Gila but the (and I hate YOU for making me say this too) World class forward we were promised. In anycase, u asked for someone in the same age bracket .. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Look han, u like Gila .. Ok that is fine by me, I don't mind ... It is just that he hasn't done much to prove himself a worthy Milan player to Galliani and co (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) It isn't me or u that Gila has to impress, it is the management and coaching staff. For two seasons Gila has produced scraps ... First season, we all gave him a break (as fans, on milanfan) .. Second season, he didn't have any sort of competition for first team football, and Carlo started him most of the time (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) As a striker, this season, he has the most minutes on the pitch (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) But has he made an impact ?! I mean, next season R99 will be 110% fit for Milan .. Then we have a super star coming in (have it R10 or Eto'o..) .. With those two world class options, Inzaghi and Oliveira are on the bench. Now, where exactly is Gilardino supposed to fit ?! Even if Milan ends up keeping him, when is he gonna play ?! Against Siena and Coppa games ?! (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) His wage is too BIG for a fringe player. I don't mind him staying, believe me I have nothing against Gilardino. But I doubt Carlo will depend on him next season, as much as he has this past two seasons (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

No, I agree with him on that matter (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) , I never said that Gila has done what was expected of him from Milan. All I'm trying to say is that I have faith in him and that the club should keep him because there aren't many players his age who have the same experiance ang goal scoring record in Serie A. And as I keep trying to point out, next season we need those 4 good strikers because of all the games we have. Keeping Oli who has as much a large wage instead of Gila is not smart, Gila will garauntee us goals in the league, Oli will not. That's all I'm trying to say here. R7 I agree with you on what you said, but always keep in mind that theire will be 5 competitions to play in next season and Ronaldo and Pippo cannot be relied upon to stay fit for the entire season. Oli will most probably be going to Real for Emerson next season so no need to worry about having him on the bench next season.

All I am asking from u, is to forget Gila's past at Parma and concentrate on what he has accomplished for Milan. Try to recall what made me and several other's try to point out about Gila being 'incompetent'. With that in mind, you would have to come to the conclusion that having faith in Gila is one thing and depending on him is another .. I have lost faith in him, but I don't think Milan can depend on him. Whilst you have faith in him, and still, u think Milan can depend on him (am I right ?). Well, Milan have today showed faith in Gila. Just as u have. But do you honestly think Milan will depend on him ? Well, we will just have to wait and see. But this time around (IF he ends up staying..), he will have to climb the ladder to the first team. And with Pippo, R99 and another great striker playing with their best form; Gila will have to really start to turn some heads if he wants to play in the important games (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

All I was saying is that with all the games we will play next season having a reliable SERIE A goal scorer would be better then having Oli when he would garauntee you something long the lines of 3 goals. Especially when they basically get the same wage. All I'm trying to say basically is that Gila will be very useful for us come next season and I don't mean to say that I would want Milan to rely on him when it comes to a big CL game I don't even rely on him when it comes to that myself (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) . But just that he will be a good player to have between the 4 strikers we have next season. QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Jun 8 2007, 11:04 PM) Well, Milan have today showed faith in Gila. Just as u have. Hopefully the big challenge he will have to fight for his place next season will hopefully push him to show what he can do, sort of like Drogba at Chelsea. That's what I hope but we'll see. All I'm sure of is that this will probably be his last chance to impress and he better make it count because he will be out the door come next summer if he doesn't and then I would agree that selling him would be better for both parties involved

Especially when they basically get the same wage. With everything u said, I believe we r starting to make some progress with these discussions (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Well, the bold part, as I said earlier; everyone should just forget about his past at Parma, cuz it is pointless, as at Parma he was playing at a different level than at Milan. Today, he has 2 seasons of experience with Milan. Usually players that fail to impress (as is the case) are sold. Now, Gilardino had been showed faith from the management, but I doubt he is a reliable Serie A goal scorer. In fact, he is unreliable (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) What might happen is, he might show some humility and climb the ladder to retain a first team spot. If he doesn't, he is sold. Other than this, I doubt Carlo would play him ahead of R99 (even if he cant handle all the games..), Gila would be playing second fiddle and it is a guarantee that he will start off the bench next year, as Galliani had already stated on the official site, "there is nothing wrong with starting from the bench" .. On another note. I am not saying the Oliveira is better than Gilardino (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) For Oli this is his first season with Milan. And just like Gila at Parma, Oli had exploded onto the scene with Betis. Oli, if we are going with ur reasoning, deserves another chance (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) BUT I am totally for selling Oli. As I don't think he can handle Serie A, IMHO. Therefor, if I was to make a decision, both Oli and Gila are sold. And I would bring in someone from Milan's youth team and a HUGE player to partner R99. In this sense, u would have experience in Pippo and R99, a firm starter in who ever is coming in, and giving our youth a chance at proving their worth (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Still think we need those for good strikers to be able to handle next season's schedule.
And I know the part you bolded of my previous post sounds contradicting but what I mean basically is that I don't rely on Gila in big matches but I do when it comes to Serie A matches against midtable teams.
But I agree with you on all the other points and as I previously said, this will be Gila's last chance to prove his worth if not then he should be sold and this is how I feel about his situation with us

QUOTE Capello pushes Eto'o to Milan
With Real Madrid about to win La Liga, it’s more likely Milan will pounce for Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o.
The Rossoneri have made no secret of their interest in the Cameroon international and his time at the Nou Camp could well be up after the disappointment of this season.
With the title seemingly safe a few weeks ago, the Blaugrana have frittered away their lead and last night’s 2-2 draw with Espanyol has put Fabio Capello’s Real Madrid in pole position.
“We had to fight back for this result and to do so I saw a great team spirit,†said the former Juventus boss after their 2-2 with Zaragoza.
“Now we need concentration, as we have not won the title yet, but we can do it.â€
Having also failed in the Champions League, Barcelona look ready for a clear-out in their squad and the first to go could be Eto’o.
Also a target for Inter, the 26-year-old African star would be available for around £20m, although other players may be included in an exchange for Barca teammate Gianluca Zambrotta.
The Rossoneri have confirmed they are seeking a new striker for the summer and Coach Carlo Ancelotti named both Eto’o and Thierry Henry in a recent Press conference

Explain the relevance of the title. It's not Capello's fault Barca aren't playing well...

"Today there's a meeting between Eto'o and some Milan agents to make the first contact. 6M/euros per season are ready for him"Do you really believe in this? It was his agent who said he's not leaving Barcelona. If he was really leaving who think his agent would keep quiet? (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) He could have said something like "Yes, maybe... it's a possibility." But no. He exactly said "No. He's staying in Barcelona. He's very happy in Catalonia." Guys... "1+1=2". Remember this. He's not our real target. PS: My maths can be wrong. While I personally would prefer Eto'o over Ronaldinho, I'm not too sure about the article. Tuttomercatoweb is sometimes rather fanciful in what it reports. If Gazzetta were to have published it, I'd be a lot more optimistic. [Edit: There IS an article in Gazzetta about meetings between Eto'o's agent and Milan directors and the sum 40 million euros was mentioned. link].

QUOTE Milan to hold talks over £25m Eto'o(IMG: http://www.hyundai-motor.com.ve/cms/images/stories/hwc/noticias/20060419_etoo.jpg) European kings AC Milan are reportedly set for talks with Barcelona next Monday over a £25million move for Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o.The Gazzetta dello Sport claim Milan's vice-president Adriano Galliani will travel to meet with Nou Camp officials next week following talks with the Cameroon international's agent in the coming days. Galliani spoke with Eto'o's prime agent in Athens before the Champions League final to register the club's interest and is now stepping up plans to land the forward with a six-year contract offer. The potential deal is likely to cost Milan an initial £25million while they will also seek to open talks over deals for Thiago Motta and Edmilson. Eto'o has been linked with a switch to Liverpool in recent weeks, although these reports have died down since his agent denied there had been a meeting with manager Rafael Benitez. http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...2227317,00.html 37M/euros for Eto'o? Hum... I doubt he'd be so cheap.
