Silvestre is mediocre, Brown is a joke. Kompany and Alex are good defenders, and Kompany might be for free when Hamburg will be relegated at the end of the season. If it was up to me, I would go for a young talented CB like Mertesacker, a young quality midfielder like Sneijder, and a young striker...maybe Huntelaar, Podolski, etc.... And of course Miro Klose!

QUOTE (pKillerMax @ Jan 30 2007, 05:07 PM) Of course I did!!! A couple of years ago he was very good for a 20 yo but he never confirmed! As for Alex, well, I dont think he's good defender at all, he's too slow and is bad against a direct opponent, I dont even talk about the fouls, so ... QUOTE (pKillerMax @ Jan 30 2007, 05:16 PM) What you are saying right now is different. They are definitely not jokes. Matrix is a joke. Iaquinta is a joke. Kalac is a joke. But those players are not! I believe right now Matrix isn't a joke at all (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Well with tonights events, surely something big is being planned. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) The players we'll be building around for 2007/08 are: Kaka' Gila Gourcuff Defensively its not a bad back four with: Dida Oddo Bonera Nesta Janku Kaladze Grimi Should get couple more seasons out of oddo and nesta. Definitely need to start strengthening this department. At least it looks abit more stable now. Maldini, cafu and costacurta probably should retire, especially maldini because he can't be a bench player. He's way too classy for that. As for dida, if he won't lower his demands I think we should look to getting a new 'younger' keeper. Midfield definitely needs to be strengthened with some more speed and players that have the desire to perform and put pressure on the positions of pirlo and seedorf. I think we should get rid of ambrosini, he's just become a liability to milan. Gattuso Pirlo Seedorf Brocchi We definitely need a world class striker who links up well. Yes the man who can fill the boots of sheva. And maybe another young striker, who can be played off the bench. Pippo Ronaldo I don't see enough football to know the hidden talents milan should try to sign. A few players I'd like to see at milan are sneijder, barzagli and eto'o. We definitely need to strengthen all areas though. Basically a stronger defense, a faster midfield and a world class striker. And lastly a change at the helm, I think carlo has been given more than sufficient time. Good waste of 10 minutes of typing. Er. If we really need a new CB (and I'm not sure we do, assuming Bonera stays to form and Nesta renews his contract), what about Benfica's Luisao?

These are paid professionals. Motivation shouldn't come into question. Milan pay them to play the matches. Carlo is part of the problem somewhat. Either he mans up or he steps off. But the real problem is Galliani, has been for quite a while now. About Moggi, we don't need no crazy guy that listens to 'voices within' running our club (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I think snatching Ronaldinho means no other player would arrive... at least not one of that calibre!

I'd rather go for Van Der Vaart (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) or someone else. Everything else sounds great! QUOTE (Captain Ambro @ Feb 18 2007, 12:14 PM) Well, we have some talents out on loan haven't we? Players like Marzoratti and Pozzi(both in Empoli) was considered very neat talents when they left Milan, however I don't think any of them will be the next Paolo... Lino maybe. Pozzi? Nooo...he isn`t just enough for Milan. Well, the youthfactory is in trouble I suppose considering that Lino and Pozzi our their best`s.

Usually youth players come in cycles. You'll have a bunch of people coming in together, playing together and doing really well. Then there'll be nobody for quite some time. Unless you are a club like Ajax that has a great youth system and regularly falls back upon it's youth team to replenish it's ranks.

Which is rather difficult for A club of Milan's stature to do .. Maybe, if it was the Liga; where each team has a sub team that plays in a B league .. Lots of players where found their, off the top of my head Cesc, Xavi, Sergio Ramos, C. Torres, etc .. But teams like Inter, Juve, and Milan suffer cuz they cant depend on their youths, like teams in La Liga. Hopefully, something will be changed (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

For the next season -- Gianluca Zambrotta (we should try everything possible to bring him back) Miroslav Klose (who will be avaible) Phillip Lahm (would be nice for both sides) Mancini (should also be considered) Luka Modrić (the new Croatian star is very young and has much to offer) Klas Huntelaar (another striker option) Christian Chivu (doing very well at Roma) Ronaldinho (well, you know everything about him...) Adriano (would be my wish, but I don`t see him as a real option) Drogba (maybe...) And above all, some new talents from Africa, SA, Europe,... Plus Frank Rijkaard It looks like Roman Abramovich`s list, but we need some real reinforcements right now.. I think we'd be more than alright with those five. Three experienced players and two younger not so costly ones. It would all cost... as much as Ronaldinho! Imo for the defence it would be Zambrotta who is better in the LB area, so we would be covered in the fullback reagion with him and Oddo. Chivu only, but I think it would be interesting to see what Bonera can do next to Nesta. We might not need someone high profile in the summer just get rid of the wastes of space and get in someone good to cover. I don't want Adriano, we have Ronaldo, and imo he p!sses all over Adriano, he's not even fit yet and he's already done half of what Adriano couldn't do in the entire season in just one game. If Inzaghi leaves then Huntellaar definately but not Drogba. And Klose would be great but I can't see where we could fit him in. Ronaldinho is more of a comodity rather then a neccesaty, if he comes, great if he doesn't I can think of better ways to spend all that money on. Mainly on a good midfielder, someone like Essien, who can cover various roles on the pitch and is a great athlete that can run for days and injects speed into our slow midfield

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Feb 20 2007, 12:30 AM) I think Galliani confirmed it. He said he met Zebina in some dinner ceremony and they agreed... kinda of. Oh. Well he's experienced. I think Oddo will be our first-choice RB for some more years to come so for a back-up he's more than good in my view.

At least for another 3 or for years he'll be.... And about that list...the first thing that comes to my mind is: Adriano, Drogba and Huntelaar? Plus Oli, Gila, Pippo and the fat one this would mean we had more strikers than Real.... I think selling Oli and buying another class striker maybe a young one, would be more than enough. Even I think it's useless to buy Klose after the arrival of the fat one. As much as I would love to see them play together they're to similar, and Klose won't fit in.... I agree that something in the defense has to be changed. But I think everyone who has watched Milan games in the last 2 years knows that, and we've talked about it more than once on this forum.... For me our most important target should be another option for the central midfield. I don't wanns throw around any names here, but maybe someone like Xabi Alonso or Hleb would help us (now I'm throwing around names...)

But Hleb and Xabi are different types of players. But we do need a holding/linking type of MF. Yoann was meant to phase out Seedorf I guess. But who do we have for Pirlo?? I mean as a back up, say if Pirlo was injured or something.
When it comes to Milan's style of play unfortunately, it hinges too much on Pirlo, getting through to Seedorf.

But I really like the young offensive ones, and that`s where Oddo doesn`t fit in. I must say, I`m not the biggest fan of Oddo at all (I suppose you know that from some earlier posts...
Chivu only, but I think it would be interesting to see what Bonera can do next to Nesta. Dida? Maybe one more year, but...Kalac and Storari should both be considered as third choices, cause I really don`t see anything good with them. My goodness, remember the days when we had Abbiati as second choice! Now, we need a great No.1, like Gigi or someone else, not including Amelia IMO. Second keeper should be rather a young potential than a prospectless waist. Amelia, Doni, and some others should be in for that... 2) I think Bonera is awfull...just awfull...even Kaladze and Ã…Â imić are better. Billy, Cafu - retirement Fav - he should find himself a proper team. like Torino or Siena. Bonera - only for cup matches, but I wouldn`t doubt getting rid of him if some proposal jumps in, or better, include him in a better deal (maybe the Chivu one) Ã…Â imić and Kala - should stay as backups

Klose is a greatfull player and I`m positive that he would find his position. Ronaldo? He is good at the moment, but I don`t treat him as a permanent and serious salvation of our attacking problems (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ! He is great, but that greatness is very relative and unpredictable. So we need serious players, with freshness and new spirit, not just former players of the year on wich we can`t rely for sure.. But, as I sead, a talented young striker would do it. Klose and that talent one. Man I miss Weah...

We could need Ro, think of all positive side effects...all shirt sells, much much extra incomes... Essien? Well, now you remided me!! I forgot someone very important - Dani Alves (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif) !? I think that`s the one... Also to mention some smaller transfers with the mid-tabel teams, players for backup`s. But for that kind of players I won`t bother thinking of names and create lists.. How can you think Bonera is bad? Have you seen him playing any of the matches these past 2 months. He has been amazing.
I don't think Amelia would come to Milan or any other team for that matter to sit on the bench.
If we get all those strikers you mentioned there won't be any space for Klose, same goes for Adriano, who imo is still a cheap knock-off of Ronaldo. And R9 might not be a long term solution but he is the guy that is equal to Sheva, we were promised of gettin and he is here and he has certainly delivered so far.
I personally think Bonera next to Nesta will be rock solid.
We need something extra in midfield and it could be that Barusso guy.
As for R10, sure he would be great but the ammount of money we are offering Barca for him and his wages is rediculous to say the least.

I think he isn` the right one for now to take full responsibility. I mean, he can take the responsibilty of Livorno and their season goals, but with Milan...well, let us say with great power comes greater responsibility. Sure, I would tip him to be Milan keeper No.1 in 07/08 if we would have a bench keeper like Abbiati who could allways jump in an make some solid matches. But with Kalac and Storari we have to "relegation-class" keepers, and can`t take the risk of an unsure keeper. And Amelia is sure a future potential, but he is still green... (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Bonera? I saw him against Siena. I suppose, I missed some matches last month, but hey, that where clashes against mid-teams. For the real games, CL final stages and scudetto runs, we can`t rely on him...For me, he is somewhere between Ã…Â imić and Kaladze (who is above Dario, but still). To say it simple, he is not a "champion material". Not even near to Billy, Paolo or Jaap, the players who took the big matches besides Nesta all these years. As for the strikers. Course I don`t think we should by all of them! I would be mad (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ...But I don`t think Ronaldo is equal to Sheva. Sure, he was equal, for moments even bigger. But now? I don`t think so..

As for Bonera, it wasn't his fault against Siena, in fact he was the only good defender. But I have seen him do some great tackles in these last few matches plus his positioning is always great unlike Kaladze. On the R9 Sheva thing: Have you seen Sheva play recently? Right now R9 is far better then Sheva, and imo him and the Milan Sheva are equals. This is the guy that was scoring non stop for Real even with that circus of a team they had, Sheva was getting service from Pirlo, Seedorf and Kaka, now look at him in Chelsea without these guys behind him. Right now its: Seva < Ronaldo Before it was: Sheva = Ronaldo

Sheva is just not English league/football material! Put Ronaldo up there, and the same would happen with him..English football manages to destroy such players, allways finds thier worst, like in Veron, Crespo,...

---------------------------------------------------------------- Gila-Buffon swap suggestedWednesday 21 February, 2007Alberto Gilardino may join Juventus over the summer in a deal which sees Gigi Buffon move to Milan. Both players have been linked with the aforementioned clubs in the past and some reports in Italy on Wednesday claim that a switch may finally occur. The Bianconeri are looking for a David Trezeguet replacement, who seems set to leave at the end of the season, and have allegedly targeted the Rossoneri striker. Although is seems unlikely that Milan would allow the 24-year-old to leave, their stance may change if Buffon was made available for transfer. Both players are valued at something around £21m and the clubs are seemingly considering a swap deal. Buffon would be of interest to Milan seeing as Nelson Dida is unlikely to extend his contract which expires in June. The Brazilian, in turn, could then move to Turin on a free transfer should the Azzurri No 1 accept a San Siro future. Buffon was paired with Milan last summer, but he opted to remain with La Vecchia Signora despite their Calciopoli relegation to Serie B. The former Parma man has recently reiterated that he is unsure about his future and will start talks with the club in an effort to understand Juve’s plans for next season and beyond. Meanwhile, whispers are also suggesting that the Milan giants are interested in Mauro Camoranesi, who is valued at £4.2m. He turned down a Juventus contract extension yesterday. channel4.com----------------------------------------------------------------

I'd expect something along the lines of Abbiati+ cash for Buffon. I like Abbiati a lot, but then I suppose if Dida is leaving, it's worth it.

Buffon is still a dream, letting Gila go is out of the question, we spent too much money on him to give up on him now and he is younger then Buffon.
And if Silvio decides to stick to his plans and go full force for R10 then Buffon won't even get a sniff in.

QUOTE (sansiro1708 @ Feb 23 2007, 02:31 AM) I did not know he is a rossoneri...but, I know that he is 26 years old wich (under the present circumstances in International football) isn`t that young. I don`t think he is a good idea, but maybe, as a bench alternative, like Dhorasoo was. Eto`o? Am I the only one who thinks that he would not make it in Milan? And even if, his transfer to Milan is very unlike, just like Drogbas or Adrianos. Even more, if you assume that Rijkaard will join us next season.. If I would be in the position, and had to choose between Eto`o and Rijkaard, I would momentarily pick Rijkaard. At least in Milans case...we need tacticall freshness, new ideas and suprises, we need change. Don`t think I wan`t Carlo out, I love the man and admire all he done for Milan (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif) . I`d be happy to see him getting some other job in our club.

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Feb 23 2007, 03:19 PM) Milan has to get rid of Gila .. !! That is a must. There is no more room for mistakes or complacency. two seasons, and nothing consistent from him. A flop. Buffon for Gila .. In a heart beat ... (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) At the Gila bashing again, it really get's tiring. Ok he missed a good chance so what??? Every striker does so. And if this has something to do with the dive then just spare it, footballers do it in every match, yesterday it was Gila today it's someone else. Classy players like Henry dive blatantly in pretty much every game they play. Christiano Ronaldo averages about 5 dives per match and even the guy who we held so high up dives (Sheva) look at his dives in one of the domestic cup games to get a penalty recently, that was as bad as Gila's. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) It's just getting ridiculous, Sheva had a terrible season with us once and I know a LOT of people who wanted him out, but that didn't happen and he proved those doubters wrong. Gila will do the same. I know I keep defending him and I sound like a broken record, but I can feel it that he will be great for us, just like I felt Pirlo would be when everyone was saying that we had bought Inter's rubbish when we got him.

Even though I think Gila has been given more than enough time to prove himself and he hasn't succeeded in doing so I would still keep him. BUT not if this supposed deal was true, then I would definitely swap him for Buffon!!

I don't think Carletto would be keeping Gila, if he thought he were crap. If it weren't for his patience, we would never see the real Andy P.
I'll always vote for Gila, since with Gila you're assured 110% effort, and minimal star consciousness. And that Gila has class is also something few question. Now if everyone is hellbent on making Gila the next Sheva, then I'm afraid we're trying to ski uphill. Sheva is the second highest goal scorer in European competitions...so go figure.
Now question is do we swap Gila for Buffon??
Tough since, we haven't been given an inkling of who his replacement will be. For me Gila is definitely among the top 10 goal poachers in the world, and Milan's style is such that we always require poachers.
So is Buffon as important as we think he is?
1. He's the best shot stopper in the world. 2. Does not goof off. 3. Can give at least 6 years of good service.
So we gain a striker and are left with Oli and Ron? I do not like the idea of a team being carried by one striker. I honestly think Oli is a no-show...at least this season, and god knows about the next. Maybe the news that we was just purchased as an appetizer for R10 broke his heart or something.
Of course if we could get Trez on a free transfer, I'd think about it.
