Whilst I'm sure Maldini has got a few seasons left in him, who would you like to see as the next captain of Milan?

I voted for Gattuso because I think he'd be able to motivate the players on the pitch through his persistence and determination.

No one would ever replace IL CAPITANO...but I Share M1ke opinion that Gattuso is the biggest motivator in the team !

I'm a bit torn between Nesta and Gattuso, but I'm going to say Nesta because the last time Rino was wearing the armband, he managed to get himself sent off! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Gattuso all the way, he such a terrier just the sort of person Milan need to hype the team and raise thier moral, he would be an exellent captain.

I'm sure Gattuso will become Milan's captain. Ok he hasn't got the technical ability like some other Milan's players, but he surely is the biggest character and motivator. He would be a captain similar to Manchester United's Roy Keane.

i'm still not sure who i want to be Milan next captain... coz i grew up admiring IL Capitano.. and somehow, everyone is not up to that standard that he possesed.

i like ambrosini when he;s wearing the armband [PSV] and he certainly less tempered compare to GAttuso [just dont like hot-headed person] but, he's not Ancelotti's first-eleven.

anyway, mike ... if Paolo Maldini retires, are you going to put him on the milan legend section?

Appearances : 766 (friendly games not included)
Goals : 32

Well , perhaps lot's of you will dissagree , but to me the next Milan captain should be Italian ... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) as much as sheva did for Milan , he represents Ukraine . A player that represents both Milan and the Italian national team is just something else ... But that's my humble opinion (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Rino plays not good, he can be replace easily in our first-eleven. Maybe in this season, he'll lose his position to Max. Don't you remember the match between Milan and PSV? Rino was not chosen as our captain.

My vote is for Pirlo, Gattuso is a great players that stays in Milan for many years, but a captain needs to stay calm in the worst moments, and Gattuso is very nervous.

Pirlo is calm and clear, his problem is that needs to put the team into his shoulder.

Ambrosini is not a regular first team football, so he can be the second or third captain.

Shevchenko is not a italian player, but it's a possibility too...

Pirlo or Gattuso in my opinion, but I prefer Pirlo.

Hmm...looks to be tied now between Shevchenko and Gattuso. Gattuso is getting the most discussion so far, but what about Sheva? Don't vote & run -- say something!! Why Sheva? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

I personally think people are voting for shev beacuse he is like the face of milan, when you say AC Milan you hear shev, you can ask anyone to name a player from AC Milan they will9 times out of 10 say Shev, its not a bad thing, people love him, he is an amazing player which is why I think people are voting for him, but I am still sticking with Gattuso, the team need someone with some flare, a little attitude and a real go get approach, and he has all that and more!

VOTE GATTUSO!!! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

This is a hot topic I see. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I wish Maldini another 5 good years as our captain. If he decides to take it easy, I would like to see one of the followings to be our next captain. The first one on my list is Ambrosini, then Nesta, Sheva, Kaka.

I voted Sheva (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif) the perfect choice IMO keeps his cool at all times, always acts like the true proffessional that he is, leads from the front and is a true Milanista as well! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif)

I think there is an unwritten rule in Italian football that the captaincy automatically goes to the longest serving player and I think they also prefer Italians as captains so that is why Rino or Ambro are captains.

Why do defenders seem to automatically get the nod for captaincy these days?

What about players like Dida & Sheva for the role?

it will most likely go to nesta, i would like to see it go to sheva. he has been with milan since 1999 and will be for years to come. he has a contract until 2010 and who says he wont renew it.nesta might be the best choice for captain but isnt he getting ready to hang up the boots? we dont want a captain for only 2-3 years

Sheva would not be a bad choice, it would be really good if he got the armband

Rino seems to be picking up his passion and some skills. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) although some people claimed that he wasn't aiming at the goal when he scored. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

well, back to topic. I say that P. Maldini still hasn't shown any sign of leaving us. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Why not just hang in for a few more years, say, 10. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) , and then C. Maldini takes over. his tackle nearly earned him a red card
i think it should be seedorf

Seedorf? He's doing better this season but last season, how bad was he?

Serginho was a lot better and I never understood why he wasn't picked for the CL Final from the start (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Look at Gattuso steaming ahead! I have said it should be him from the begining and I am sticking too it! What a goal for him the other night, 1st one in the San Siro for 7 years! The man is a legend and can always be counted on for pulling something out the hat when you least expect it.
And as for him losing the game against Liverpool for us, thats rubbish! The whole team lost it for us, we just didnt seem to want it in the 2nd half and then when Shev missed the last penalty. im sorry but as a whole the team lost it, they all played their part you cant blame one palyer!! Serginho is always more effective when he starts from the bench. I guess that's because his pace is more lethal when the opponents are tired. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Gattuso was responsible for that one, I agree, but that coward Gerrard probably just faked it anyway. A red card and a penalty for a dive? imagine that.

seedorf doesn't have the quality of being a captain. at least i don't see it in him. imagine a lazy guy walking on the pitch with armband while all the other guys are sweating like pigs. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) when they look around trying to find their captain, "where is our captain?" "right here, dude, I am having an ice cream." (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) No offense, hehe. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Seedorf has won three times, one with each team. 95, 98, 03.

Gattuso is not my first choice to be captain, heck, he is not even top three in my dictionary, but Seedorf may be the last person I would want to see with captain armband. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

As much as i like Shevchenko, strikers do not make good captains. He can hardly yell at the defence to get their act together if he's on the other side of the pitch can he?

Don't think I missed out on any other potentials to Captain our Milan...

I went for Nesta, cz Gattuso is tempermental and I think Nesta organizes the backline just well

In my opinion, Nesta is the best choice although I don't like him most.

And I think you should remove Kaka, Kaladze and Seedorf out of this list because Milan wants an Italian captain.

I don't think Nesta is a good idea he is a Lazio player at heart and their is no doubt that he will return their to retire. I would like to see Gattuso as captain, sure sometimes he has a short temper and can be a bit distructive but I think if the responsability was put upon him he would definately step up to the plate.

Plus I would like to have a captain that would be loyal to his club and Gattuso has said over and over again that he would play for Milan even in serie B and I quote him as saying "I would even play for Milan in serie B or even in hell" I know thats a bit extatic but hey thats Rino for you and thats why we love him.

If we do get relegated next season, the only players from our current team would be Gila, Rino, Inzaghi I think will stay, maybe Kaladze, Maldini and Costacurta. I can't hink of anyone else from our current team that would stay with us if we are in fact relegated.

Edit: And I forgot Ambrosini, but he is injured for 3 quarters of the season so I don't know if that's a good idea to make him captain, but I'm pretty sure he would stay with us if we get relegated

I don't think Nesta is a good idea he is a Lazio player at heart and their is no doubt that he will return their to retire.

I've been thinking about that lately ... I'm not so sure he'll go back to play for Lazio cause nobody likes Lolito ... And if we give him the captain's armbrand then he may stay with us for sure (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

Totally agree - RINO!! He's not going anywhere, he said he'd even stay if we were relegated and that hasn't happened! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif) There's Max, he's been here since '95! but he doesn't get into the team enough. Then Pippo, but don't like the idea of a striker being Captain.

Gattuso is a great player, no doubt about that. but come on... do you really think he deserves to be CAPTAIN of Milan after the great Paolo Maldini?! doesn't he lack in personality? of being a club like Milan's leader?
I have no doubt that if Kaka doesn't leave us for Real Madrid, he could be perfect for being captain... in the next couple of years.

Good thinking,...very good. You are right. To be a Captain takes responsability, something that Rino does not allways have. If a conflict brakes out, its the Captain who must calm down the players and act racional, talk to the ref without anger...is Rino capable of such things? I think no! So it the new captain should be Nesta, or we have some others like Pirlo, Ambro, Kaka even Kaladze (please no!)... Kaka??? No!!! I like him a lot as a player (he's actually my favourite one right now) but since he talked about leaving even before the verdict he kinda has disgusted me!!!

I alreay voted for Nesta .. But the way it seems, Gattuso is second in line after Maldini.. Maybe we'll know this season who Maldini's successor is (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif)

Buffon and Cannavaro as our captains???!!!!

First of all they have to come to Milan and secondly I wouldn't want someone new regardless of how good they are to be our captain
