I thought you were thinking about the good of the team and not being sentimental... Maldini still has a lot to offer... The impact him and Costcurta have on other players is definitely something special that only Milan has. I don't want them both to retire the same year... First of all it will make it twice as hard for us fans... And also the team still needs one of them until we make sure Nesta will take the torch after they are gone...

Which is why they have to hang up their boots at the end of the season. The team has to let go of Maldini (&Costacurta), they are the light of this team yes, but they have to make way for younger players .. This isn't a grave yard, it's the GREATEST club of all time, they will never be forgotten, but that will ONLY be proven when they retiere.

Costacurta and Maldini should be exceptions... Just because I can't even begin to imagine a Milan without them.... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

^^ It's very likely that they will retire this year, especially since I read somewhere that Maldini is still suffering a lot of pain from his knee. I guess I agree that "It's better to burn out than to fade away", but I wanted them (and Il Capitano in particular) to go out in glory, and it sucks that they'll probably retire after this season because with the way things have been going so far..........it might not be a very glorious end at all. What we need... is time. And time is money.
About Carlo. Yes we need to replace him. But not right now, at the end of the Season I think. Yes, thank you for everything, but you're era definitely is over. We need somebody else, who has the creativity, to form a new Milan.
I think we need some january moves, although I have no idea how many.It depends on the quality we look for. If we only buy cheap crappy players, yes we need +3. We should do some january moves, scout talented players... The major changes are due in the summer. And I hope we won't screw them!!!
Galliani... well he really shouldn't be in milan. I appreciate that he's a passionate Milan fan, but nothing more.
We only can hope to endure the Fiorentina game, and than get a notwelldeserved break. In this break we have to rest, get back the injured players, and hopefully the MILAN SPIRIT, which I have been missing in the last few games, or maybe the entire season except some games.
Praying? Pray all if you want, but nobody can help us, except Milan themselves, when they get up their lazy asses, to win a game, in the name of the true Milan spirit & to honour the milan jersey.
Do Nothing? That's not an option we have. Sooner or later something dramatic will happen, if we go on like this (Serie B, no CLspot, several Starplayers signing with other Clubs... and I won't be mad at them)

What we need to do?
We have to face the reality (-26 points from Inter (yes it's very cooollld *brrr*)), which means, that it's impossible to get the Scudetto. What we can reach is the 4th place, a realistic target. I think our squad is somewhat psychological depressed (hitting the posts/bars, draws&losses in the last games). Also we still feel the aftereffect of calciopoli.
CONI didn't cut off our points. Calciopoli pretty much ruined our summer transfer. Some players said, that the -8 motivates them, but I think the opposite happened.
We should face the reality, and Berlusconi/Galliani/Ancelotti, shouldn't act like everythings alright, and giving statements a l a:
"We are milan" "we still are nr.1 in europe" "we don't need january transfers"
We are Milan. So what? In the end it's just a name, not the ability to win a game, which in the end is needed. We shouldn't hang only to the history, we have to look forward for the future, to win games.

I hope I haven't forgot anything major.

Our biggest problem in this whole mess of a season is one thing

It's the players' minds. This is a psycological problem more then anything else. No transfers or injured players returning are going to help our situation.

mchanna, you said something that I totally agree with (not that I disagree with the other stuff you said but this really struck me)

. This is basically what started the ball rolling. The sh!tty pre-season we had add to that the fact that the calciopoli penalties seem to have taken the breath right out of the player's lungs. And as you said they might have said that it was a motivation but it did the whole opposite. And to continue to add to this, player's coming off the high of winning a WC (which continues to help in the un-motivated department).

And this constant post hitting. Now I know it's not bad luck, I think it's become this big elephant inside the room. And now we are even starting to hit the post from the penalty spot.

There is something defenately wrong. And it's not physical. It's coming from the player's minds.

What will help is Carlo sitting them down and all having a hard talk. Also doesn't the club employ shrinks? I think they should get off their lazy asses and do some work.

Our problem is unmotivation, no belief in our selves what-so-ever and we never show any balls, unless it's already too late

han .. It's exactly that .. Plus, this team is playingto it's full potential, it cant give anymore; w/o fullbacks, Carlo's tactics are useless .. Game in - game out, Milan have ZERO width, even when they do, they arent effective. Had we got fullbacks, i.e. Cafu and Sergio on form, Milan would be pounding teams left, right and center !

The problem is we don't have the luxury to change tactics and instead of full backs we employ wingers, since we don't have wingers on the team. Our only hope was Foggia and we gave him away to Lazio (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Foggia !!! R u serious !!! What has he been doing for Lazio this season ?

In anycase, where it'd fullbacks or wings; we dont have them.

Which brings us back to where we r, getting f@cked every single game we play.

Of course I'm serious!! It's better to have the option of a winger then to not have it at all

And Foggia is only experiancing the difficuilties he's having is because he get's shiped off to a different team every year. It doesn't help with the adjusting that much.

I think that if we'de kep him he would have helped us out.
