Yes, Bennacer's loss was a game-changer.

And that's my point. Could have Pep as manager and how's he gonna cope without KDB and EH?

You need your best players, and there's no point crying about the manager if he loses his best tools.

My God!

Pioli really f@cking it all up. Those subs made everything 10 times worse than they already were

Just an embarrassing 2023

Pobega, Ballo-Toure, CDK, Origi, Rebic. Just terrible all season

Taking off Brahim and Theo, our only hope for a goal is just peek Pioli of 2023. Cannot take it anymore with him

No point in analyzing anything. We're plain sh*t. An embarrassment.

Can't even muster up the energy to get p!ssed at this point.

Pioli is done

But the complete lack of quality once you go beyond the first 11 is all the fault of the ownership

We won the scudetto last season and instead of taking a step forward we took a step back quality-wise.

The loss of Kessie is a major reason for where we are now imo. We lost the dominance we used to hold in the midfield when we lost him. Krunic is just not good enough and replacing him with Pobega is an insult.

Add to the fact that we lost an important player, we did not improve areas that we've known needed investment for over 2 years now.

Still no decent RW, still relying on semi-retired players upfront, no proper midfield to replace Kessie. The CDK move was a complete bust. Origi was a even worse. The ownership failed this team and Pioli has failed this club as a whole as well. Prioritizing CL KOs when it's do or die in the league to make top 4 is beyond the pale. Consistent CL football is a must. We're going to lose out on that next season so a CL semi this season and getting embarrassingly thrown out by Inter while missing out on top 4 will look incredibly stupid once the season is over

It is clear at this point that certain players cannot be part of the team next season. They cannot be relied on, even for minor rotation purposes, let alone playing top 4 decider games.

All the points we've lost in 2023... Against so many terrible teams, it's just not acceptable. Pioli simply has to go. It's clear there is no longer a clear playing style. I'm back to watching this team as I did during the banter era. With dread about approaching games. It's terrible stagnant football. This team under Pioli was once exciting, quick, high press. Now it's just trudging along and passing aimlessly for 90 minutes while barely creating any clear cut chances against relegation battling sides

Pioli is to blame, no doubt. But there's so much you can do when the quality of your roster is this.

Let's be honest, the only good players we have are Maignan, Tomori, Theo, Tonali, Bennacer and Leao. And even they are very inconsistent. The rest are just mid-table level duds.

I was talking with a friend of mine earlier, he said you guys have no quality in midfield. Nobody who can create anything. And he's right. Look at Inter. They've got Calhanoglu, Barella, Mkhitaryan and Brozovic with incredible vision and passing skills. That's where they win their games. Because their defense is mediocre and their attack is not as good as we made look to be on Wednesday. We got none of that. Not even in our starting players.

We need to invest in a couple of quality mids for next season at all cost, aside from the obvious holes we have upfront. But to make such investments we need money, and securing no CL for next season will be disastrous in that aspect.

If there was a facepalm I'd use it. Pioli gave up on the league months ago - he's been prioritising UCL by a mile, but desperately needs Leao for the return leg. Not sure if Bennacer has a chance of being fit.

We don't have a good enough squad to compete on both domestic and European fronts, so we've picked UCL.

It'll be justified if we get past Inter, but that needs Benna and Leao back.

Bennacer's season is over. From what I read, he might even miss the start of next season. The guy is going to undergo surgery.

Justified? Loosing CL money over some no-win scenario final? I don't think so. Not ending up at least 4th will be one of the worst defending title seasons in Milan history and also a major blow to our project.

I still think the management is to blame for the choices they made - not buying the necessary players, many mistakes in judgements, not assuring our best players stay (Kessie, Hakan, Donna - which turned out fine but anyway) or not making an effort of replacing them (Romagnoli, Kessie, etc.). Not investing during January was the icing on the cake.

Yet Pioli really baffles me. The way he uses players really bothers me. Players who don't play for weeks suddenly become part of a starting formation (Vranckx) or get pushed right into the fire (Bakayoko for a period) - mostly fail and end up on ice for another cycle.

Yes, our roster is mediocre and poor. But the way Pioli has handled rotation, player mentality and playing routines is shocking for an experienced coach. Just think of Rebić (neverminded the injuries') - he never was a superb player to begin with, but the explosiveness he had and the involvement he brought in his first 2 seasons. Look at him now. Useless, like mostly all other bench players. It surely isn't a coincidence.

Secondly, he destroyed any sense of order and tactic. Our awful game plan and game style is what makes me finally want a change in the coaching department. Yet sadly I don't see anyone suitable for us. Conte surely wouldn't join Milan.

Losing the Champions League final earns the same amount as qualifying for the group stage mate.

Does it?

Well, anyway, for that kind of strategy we played poorly in the first tie, regardless of Leao missing, don't you think?

That is a big blow.

Leao touch and go for tonight, if he does make it we have a chance. It's not a big chance, but it's a chance.

Benna is a tough one, but he didn't even play the Spurs win and we coped. Rebic can play that slot. It's all on whether Leao makes it. If he's fit, we have a really good chance.

Yup, losing finalists get 15.5M for that (on top of all the prize money earned by that stage), group stage qualification is the same number. Winners get 20M.

Yes and no.

We've become so reliant on him that he's fundamental to the UCL system we play. Without his running and able to use him as an outlet, we need more from a midfield that's not built to play without him in this competition. And that midfield wasn't protecting the defence the way it should. It got overrun quick. Giroud cannot be used in the way Leao can, as an outlet. He's a great strong striker but he's rubbish for relieving pressure. He's not the same as Ibra. Can't hold the ball up in the same way.

But that said, we recovered very well from that horrendous start in that match and in the end could have won it. Goals make points make prizes and we fell short (slim margins, hit the post twice) but we showed encouraging signs that even without Leao we are capable.

With him, we are very capable.

What a disgusting showing in a do or die gmae

Throwing away top 4 looks genius right about now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

We made this terrible Inter side look good. pioli actually physically disgusts me at this point. We needed to go in there being physical today, what does he do? Play Brahim and Messias... FFS! 4 straight games against these mofos and he learns absolutely nothing.

Inter will get smoked by either team on the other side of the bracket. But we just had no answer. We can't play against a team like Inter with just Tonali in the midfield.

Our season went down the toilet the moment we capitulated to Roma back in January. And we have not recovered since.

Pioli simply has to go. Past the 60 minutes mark with no changes aside from a forced one in defence. The team showed no drive to really fight and put pressure on Inter. A disgusting showing against Inter of all teams makes it 10 times worse!
