I don't even think it had anything to do with the quality of the players. Horrible coaching. No tactical identity. Daniel De Rossi's rant says it all at the end.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Nov 14 2017, 06:13 PM) Ventura was a disastrous choice. It’s all on Tavecchio. Football Italia is running a report saying Tavecchio won't be held to task. It has to do with him having managed finances really well, the introduction of VAR and the hugely improved performance of the U-21s. I sort of see the point. Ventura had won 4 out of 5 games till the disasters against Macedonia and then Sweden. I'm not sure if firing the coach would have helped by that point. But some really basic disasters in his play. I think Low hit upon the best method. Which is to take the best players from the best playing clubs and give them the system they're most comfortable playing in. And here we had Insigne being played in centre midfield. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Italy should have been a 3-4-3 or a 4-3-3 - No question. And Jorginho should have been a part of it.

QUOTE (CrazyMilanFan @ Nov 14 2017, 05:52 AM) so the last thing which was left to witness was Italy failing to qualify for WC !! I've been in mourning since the first leg tbh. It was clear they were never going to turn it around. To watch guys like Candreva, a head down, kick and rush player be given so much trust yet the best winger in the league is sitting on the bench just epitomizes Ventura's tenure. Jorginho was another casualty, one of Napoli's best players and he's only given a chance in a do a or die. QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Nov 14 2017, 08:30 AM) Speaks volumes as to the quality of players available for Italy. Reminising on the 2006 team that went to Germany. Actually I think the talent pool is pretty good atm. Insigne, Belotti, Immobile and SES are all having amazing seasons and scoring for their clubs, yet they're not being fruitful for the NT, in the midfield and on the wings Ventura has so much talent to choose from yet he goes for Candreva and Parolo. Darmian as a WB is also a huge WTF. I mean is there seriously no one better to play the WB position than a pseudo RB who is clearly not comfortable attacking so much or using his left foot?

QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ Nov 18 2017, 12:56 PM) We could have used him this season. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) Shame he was such a cokehead when he was with us. Honestly, I don't get where this SES druggie rumor came from, but has it ever even been substantiated? His problem were his injuries, we have a terrible track record with young players and their physical development.

QUOTE (William405 @ Jul 15 2018, 12:26 PM) France in final and I'm in France.. Going to be crazy if they win Must have been great. Anyway, it was an entertaining World Cup, just a major downer without Italy. Although in the state they're in, it was probably for the best.

What guys do you think of the current Azzurri line-up? I think they got an interesting bunch of young players mixed with some experience.
Donnarumma, Bonucci, Chiellini, Romagnoli, Caldara and Conti when they're fit to play again, Florenzi, Jorginho, Verratti, Barella, Bernardeschi, Chiesa, Inisgne, Immobile, Belotti etc.
