Holding midfielder. I think we can't call him defensive or ofensive. A bit like Pirlo.

He's a creative defensive-midfielder. Good passing, great vision... a little version (he's 19 or 20) of Xabi Alonso or Pirlo. He rarely makes mistakes and doesn't get a lot of cards (yellows)...

He's a regular in a top-team in Boca Juniors.

PS: Chelsea is/was interested in him too.

Real Madrid are to start talks with Boca to have their prized midfielder become a Merengue by January.

His meteoric rise to popularity is being backed up by his performances in 2006. He is a player that has promised so much and delivered just as much. So much so, that he is receiving the accolades and comparisons to one of the great Argentine players of all time- Fernando Redondo. He is being mentioned in the same breath by Redondo’s old club and the national team. Real Madrid seem to have the fast track to him as they have looked to incorporate him sometime next summer. The news of a Merengue official already in Buenos Aires observing him during this week’s Superclásico seem to insinuate the possibility of speeding up the process.

There are rumors spreading throughout media outlets like Argentina's Olé and Spain's Marca, stating that Gago will be Real Madrid’s next big signing during the upcoming winter transfer market. According to many “madridistas”, he would be that piece that has been missing since Claude Makelele left. The only difference is that he offers more verticality to the Madrid attack.

Gago, 20, is one of Boca’s stalwarts in the midfield and plays with the poise, charisma, and maturity of a seasoned veteran. Madrid is probably getting him to pair up with Diarra in the middle. Emerson is not performing good in spanish soccer.

Its ridiculous how expendable players are at Madrid.

Its disgusting how they can attract and buy every big name out there.

Emerson has actually been playing well. The problem is that Capello turned into a overly defensive Italian team in an attacking football league.

Its strange how players are so attracted to the team. It makes sense in that you can make a lot of money and people associate you with a commercial team that the guy from Bend it like Beckham is on.

But the bench is just wasted talent. Etoo sat on that bench and stated how much is being wasted at Madrid.

If Milan want Gago they need to grow a pair and get aggressive.

II) Emerson is not performing what he knows IMHO. Diarra is already doing a great job there. But the double-pivot tactic need time. Just give them time.

III) Milan has to be agressive on the market. Not as the last Summer. Some days ago Paulo Berlusconi said "We were very close to sign Zlatan from Juventus, but then Inter beat us and got him". This things should not happen...

IV) Italian press said today that Mascherano is probably going to Juventus on January.
