I apologize for bringing back bitter memories, but how on earth Sheva didn't score this one will always haunt me for life. No matter how many times I try to forget it, it always comes back to me. It's like God himself didn't want us to win that night. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

PS: It was the 120th minute. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

Well, firstly, don't apologize. It's one of the common places of all Rossonero fans in recent history, even wider. Collective memory the call it.

Secondly, the damn image sticks with me as well. And that Dudek guy, he really held and held like never before. I also think that this is where Sheva's career took a wrong turn.

But finally, I always look at it as a tragic first chapter of a longer story that finally ended in Athens. Yes, this Istanbul match was traumatic, and yes, Maldini scored and we played terrific, but - Athens helps always to ease the pain.

That was one of those moments where you're already screaming your head off in celebration but then you deflate, not to mention the moment and game it was in, one of those unforgettable moments.

After that miss I remember giving up on it, I knew we were going to f@ck up the shoot out after that

That night is the biggest reason I hate Liverpool, and that Milan team.

For us to act at half time like we'd won the thing and take our eye off the ball for the second half was...unforgiveable.

We cost ourselves as badly as Liverpool punished us.

But...Pippo's right. Athens was absolutely beautiful. Watching Pippo's strike roll over the line in slow motion, as time stopped and seemed to want to say 'this is your night, Milan'.

I don't think we were acting as if we had already won. We started strongly in the second half, and I remember we nearly scored the 4th one (or was it wrongly disallowed?) in the first minutes.

It was just those cursed 6 minutes! You tend to black out. After the first goal Liverpool took heart and we suffered their pressing. The second goal completely cut our legs. We were scared, it showed. The players were dazed. Perhaps the memories of La Coruña started to inflict themselves.

Then again, we were so unlucky that night that even Dida's saved penalty had to rebound on frigging Alonso again. Like I said, it's as if God didn't want us to win.

Athens surely was a sweet, sweet revenge, but even to this day the nightmares of Istanbul won't leave. Even if we win another final against them that game will always haunt me for life.

Pure BS. If you really believe them then you're not my friend anymore.

Well I was using that to express my newly found suffering (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

But if you want to apply it to your own situation than by all means (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

@ x-off, how can you not believe those stories man? The arrogance we went into that game with was astonishing, from all involved not just the club. Rino giving the "hold you later" slaps to the trophy as they came out before the game started was also a very clear indication of this

I wholeheartedly believe that they did celebrate during that HT interval

I know. But like I said, it could apply to any of the three of us in the scenario. You know, if I have to explain every joke I make to you, we'll be here till Milan win the Scudetto again.

As do most. The first half was collosal - and unfortunately it went to their heads at HT and they threw it away.

Yeah, I understood, which is why I followed it with that other line (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I'm slow, but not that slow
