So Torres earns about 9 million. And we've told Chelsea we're willing to pay 3 million and not more. Chelsea in fact are okay with paying the remaining half of his salary. Now Torres is the one dragging his feet. He wants a 3 year deal, else he says Chelsea pays out his contract (this is pure rumour/speculation).
I think I'm sort of okay with that. I actually do not think like the majority that Torres is a horrible striker who's lost everything. I believe at 3 million wages, he presents an excellent value add for a team whose only goal this season is to finish in Europe. And I like him better than the other options presented - Borini, Negredo. I also have my own pet theory as to why he sucks so bad in Chelsea. It's not an educated pundit's view, but I just went through a lot of videos comparing Torres at Chelsea v Torres at Liverpool.
EDIT: We've agreed to pay 3.5 million euros in wages, the rest will be on Chelsea. (At 175,000 GBP a week, his salary comes to 9 million GBP a year). No decision yet.
I think it's a great bit of business.
So just for this year, when we have no money coz of no CL and horrible season tickets - we get to strengthen using van Ginkel and Torres, leaving transfer funds intact to buy a winger and proper forward either in January or the next summer without any obligations.
In a way it's what han said. We are choosing to get no one rather than getting a substandard player, but you know that would leave us in shite for the season. So instead we loan them. R7 would call it Operating Expense vs. Capital Expense. (IMG:

I don't get the Rami link. Unless it's a makeweight for Falaco to come on loan. So instead of paying a loan fee, you send out Rami.
On a related note, Ogbonna availble for 15 MM from Juventus. Yes or no?
