Meh, we have our own very good Italian players who came through our own system.

You just want to get a former Inter player who can ctually be good (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

We hav Balo for that anyways (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

You're partly right. But like Baresi and Pirlo, I really like the though of us rubbing them into their faces their mistakes.

Balo is different. Unlike Baresi, Pirlo or Santon, it's not a case of lack for vision or planning. They knew they had a talent in Balo, just couldn't resist selling him to City as he was a troublemaker and they had other good options.

I think he was turned down for their youth academy as a kid.

You were rejected by Inter as a teenager, while your brother was taken on. How did this make you feel. Did it make you even more determined to succeed?

No, what happened was that my brother was already with Inter; he's older than me. I wanted to follow him so I had a trial first with Inter, and they said, "Well, come back next year." But my coach took me to Milan, and there I was accepted, although it took a couple of trials. They were worried about my size, that I wouldn't grow much, or toughen up. I was only 14 at the time.

I was guessing it had something to do with that. But Pirlo and Seedorf were a different story to this. For one thing everyone SAW them play for inter and fail. And then come to Milan and play like a boss.

Agreed. Turning down someone as a kid is very different to having a player in your squad and letting him go.

Who's the best Milan youth player that we didn't hold on to? (Not that Pirlo, Seedorf, etc. were Inter youth) I can't really think of many, doesn't seem like we've produced that many good players in recent years. About the only one at a top club that comes to mind at the moment is Matri.

Francesco Coco was a talented fullback we let slip away - but he never turned out good. Best Milan product now? Matri and Paloschi for sure.

About Baresi...sure, it's different then Pirlo or Seedorf, but not so much as one would think. Bottom line is, every time I watched Baresi play live or on old tapes, the commentator told us the story of how Inter rejected him. Same applies to Pirlo and Seedorf who got stamped as "finished" at Inter, but turned out WC in our system. That's what I'd like to see with Santon happen.

Paloschi is still co-wned by us if I'm not mistaken. So haven't let him go yet.

BTW, when it comes to these new generation kids, like Paloschi for example, I think they fail because they try to be and do too many things at once. I think Paloschi is trying hard to be a more and more complete player. This is were they fail. If you look at Inzaghi, he was never concerned with that. All he wanted to do was train like a pro and sniff out goals. He was a specialist. Kaka, Pirlo, Rui, Gattuso, all specialists. Now the newer generation kids don't quite get this. It is truly a good thing for all these new players to develop in all areas, but that should be a project on the side and the main goal should be to focus on one area or one key element with a burning desire. I mean for f@ck sake Juninho made a career for himself that way specializing in Free-kicks. It has been easier for full backs to develop into good players in our youth system because they already have a pretty specialized role. But seeing someone like Plaoschi is kind of disappointing when we all saw he was developing into a very dangerous player with Inzaghi mentoring him. But now he has developed into a big and rather dull player that reminds me of the likes of Caracciolo and not Inzaghi.

Rant over.

Stramaccioni: "I'd choose 100 times Milito over Pazzini"

Dear Strama, what if you had both? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I think he was asked whether he'd do the Cassano-Pazzini swap again, to which he responded that they needed a player to partner with Milito, basically implying that Pazzini was no longer needed. But I wonder, couldn't they have kept both? I mean, Milito's been a shadow of his former self ever since the treble, he's very injury prone, plus he's 33. I think they should have kept Pazzini and rotate them. It's not like he was earning a lot of money, either. Now they're stuck with only Cassano and Palacio, the crappy old Rocchi, and they were so close to signing freaking Carew from retirement! Total fail.
