This is smoke. I don't see this happening.
Why spend 16 million for Matri, when you could get Berbatov who does the same thing for about less than half. And that would cover the wage difference too.

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Aug 10 2012, 03:45 PM) Problem with Berbatov is he is so lazy. It's fine in a good team, but when you're a B level club (which we are now) you need someone who is going to work harder for the team and Matri fits that better than Berba. But he did do well at Leverkusen, which was a B level club. QUOTE (X-Offender @ Aug 10 2012, 03:51 PM) Just an idea: why didn't we go after Adebayor? I'm pretty sure City would have given him on loan to us. No idea. Maybe we are? Of the mentioned names, Ade seems a rather easy solution.

QUOTE (d'Arc.LP @ Aug 10 2012, 01:01 PM) GdS: Juventus will not let go of Matri for less than 16m I wouldn't take him if they offered him to us on a silver platter. A mediocre player and not even worth half that

If there is one Italian I'd want, that would be G. Rossi, anyone else would be a let down and a slap in the face to the fans.
Plus with the prices being quoted for the likes of Matri, we would get Rossi for 10m most likely. At least it would be a gamble on someone very talented rather than someone who'd score 10 goals a season
