Do you guys think that was a penalty?

Not a chance. Ref clearly decided just to let Germany save some face!
I think if any thing refs need to be reminded of 'indirect free-kicks'

OK, this place in unusually quiet tonight. I thought there'd be a little more discussion and debate. ah well, Italy won, that's what matters.

FORZA ITALIA !!!!!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yay.gif)

Special shout out to Super Mario!

Now please beat those painfully boring tiki-taka guys, I just can't stand them anymore!

Anyone else thought Balotelli would miss yet another great chance when he got the ball before his second one? And that was a lucky shot by the way, the way the ball bounced, no technique at all. But well it went it that's what really matters. Neuer was left to look like a traffic cop tonight in either goal though he did not really stood a chance.

It hit his hand but the whole point is deliberate/cheating/gaining an advantage. He did none of those by it hitting him.

Plus Klose pulls and fouls him. Well nothing changed in the end and I think the ref would not have given that if it was a one goal difference.

Yet again a good German team does not manage to seal the final win. The run continues.

But honestly, Badstuber and Boateng...well...Germany must find better solutions. We may compare the current midfield with the one of the 1990's, but their defensive selection is more then just bad.

Couldn't watch the match cause I had to wake up early.Great result for Italy, and great finishing from Balotelli. That Cassano pass was amazing as well..and Montolivo with that beautiful long one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .

I really believe Italy can win the finals(when is that btw?),Spain has been not so impressive, and Italy are hungry!

I'm not sure if this is true, but I'm reading on some random posts that Balotelli's second goal was clocked at 122 km/hour!!!

Well done and congrats Italy. This final couldn't be between two more deserving teams (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Germany are becoming masters at losing hands where they're "supposed" to win.
Finals in '02, semis in '06, finals in 08 semis in 2010 now semis again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Accurately? If he was aiming for the post then yes. I don't think luck is involved either, the ball will go where you send it at.

Obviously, he was aiming for just a few inches away from the post. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Just like Nani. Those are near impossible to hit and pretty much impossible to save. Luck is involved in the sense that while the ball will go where you send it, where you send it does not align with where you plan on really sending it.

It was just the case of a centimeter or two on the wrong place for the shot. But the point is, I've seen far worse.

Doesn't surprise me, that's one of the hardest hit goals I've ever seen.

Yea, Ibra and Balo both can strike it like crazy.

Yea but did you notice that both Barzagli and Balzaretti handled the ball in succession? I initially thought it was only Balzaretti.

that was a lucky shot

I can't agree with that. "risky" would be right word to describe his shot.

After missing a similar chance against England while trying to hit it with technique, I can't blame him. I think the way he scored it a bit stunned the Germans. more than it would have if he'd scored it any other way.

I'm really seeing them click, some of their interchages were just great to watch. Monto is really coming into his own and it's great to see Cassano almost back to 100%.

Can't wait to see them together at Milan next season, and if Boateng has another injury nightmare season we know Monto can easily slip in there and do the job

As I said, the only hope that I had for the game was their suspect defence, Lahm's idiotic play on the second goal was also something done at mediocre levels. I don't understand why he's considered a world class FB when he's not an adapt defender
