QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ May 31 2012, 08:56 AM) *
Well I have a problem with this han.

I don't think we ever had 'good youth'. We had youth who would make the cut at a club like Genoa, but never a club like Milan. And guess, what we haven't for a long time.

We see Madrid, Arsenal, Man Utd, Barca and think of youth. But these clubs are spending 50 million a year on youth, where we are spending 14 or 15 million.

By all means, hike up that spending. But then that money comes out of something else. Most probably transfers. In other words, the Arsenal situation happens.

I wasn't just talking about the young players coming out of our own youth team, but the young players Galliani likes to play marry-go-round with. 95% of our mercato news every summer is of young players we buy from all over the league and young players we send on co-owns around the league. And the summer after that the players we bought the previous summer are sent on co-owns, the ones on co-owns are brought back and sent to another team on co-owns. Rinse and repeat every summer.

And we lose money every time this is done, because we end up paying more than the players are worth when we want to buy their contrac back again from these small clubs. It's why the loan system has been practically abolished in Serie A. Because the smaller clubs are getting something out of these deals.

We're just not Barca and no matter how many young players we try to get, none of them will make the cut at the end of the day. I'd rather not spend the money to get 5 young players in and buy someone good for the first team, because we all know where those 5 players will most likely end up.

We lost money? How much have we lost in the co-ownership deals last summer?

Onyewu is by far the worst player I've ever seen play for Milan. He has the physical attributes, but he has no clue how to play football. I don't get how he even keeps playing for the US team.

Amen.

Yip. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleepysmiley03.gif) Well deserved and well earned. Plus, well played for the corner header goal.

I'll go through the club accounts to check that one...

The co-own deals are made because of the smaller clubs. They want something out of the deal. Do you really think they'd get into them if they were to lose money out of it? The money is always lost by the big club, while the small club earns something out of it while also getting a youngster on their roster for rotation. It's the way things work and why we rarely hear of any loan deals being made

Meh.. No Lamps but Gerrard is in?

The only English player I like is out for the Scouser. That shoots down any integrity the English team had in my eyes...

Just sounded like you thought Gerrard was just chosen above them. Jordan Henderson an England International, this is definitely by far the worst England squad I've seen.

Nope, just commenting on the fact that the only England player I like can't play and will be replaced by the Scouser...

@ Filippo, what do my predictions have to do with the fact that this management have simply shown a lack of planning in the transfer market?

Lack of planning? I think it's very hard to plan without a proper budget. You can count the number of clubs on one hand who plan wisely their market strategy, invest normal sums and constantly stay top.

My point is, let's wait and then be depressive. It's much more reasonable if you ask me.
