Italy-Luxembourg friendly cancelled!

(IMG:http://www.football-italia.net/sites/default/files/imagecache/main_photo/[type]/[nid]/italy-scarf-490_5.jpg)

Italy’s friendly against Luxembourg has been called off after an earthquake struck the country this morning.

After a 5.8 magnitude tremor which originated in nearby Modena, the decision has been taken to cancel tonight’s match at Parma’s Stadio Tardini.

The Italian Football Federation met with city officials on Tuesday where it was agreed that the game should not take place.

Players and staff in the team hotel felt the tremor this morning during breakfast. Udinese striker Antonio Di Natale was in the lift at the time.

The squad will return to their Coverciano training base this afternoon.

Dude, at least 10 people died, and you thinking about a friendly match?

It's not about the venue, but about the tragedy that's befallen Italy. Ten people are dead and dozens are missing. Who cares about a friendly match at the moment?

Interesting thing on Panorama about the racism trouble in Poland and Ukraine, disturbing footage. I can't hate on the BBC anymore, the way they basically send out a huge F U to FIFA and UEFA all the time is brilliant.

That's the main thing it seemed to be. Some of it was horrible and I'm not condoning it anyway, but I can't help but think they went pretty out of there way to go to the worst areas in the country to get this kind of footage. To be honest if the Olympics weren't being held in England Panorama would have had a 30 minute special on the London Riots and fear-monging about how dangerous it is here. You could easily turn that moment where an asian guy covered in blood gets robbed and make that come across as purely racial.

It's bad, obviously still but no country is perfect as the BBC love pointing out (unless it's the British Isles).

So where is Gourcuff now? Almost three years ago there were venomous posts towards Galliani and Co for not keeping our rising star.

I think the most worrying thing is not actually the violence. What is disturbing is that when the Ukrainian fans were quite clearly doing Nazi salutes, the FA were saying "No, no, they were pointing to opposition fans". It's like they're scared to do anything, they actually defend/choose to ignore this kind of behaviour.

I agree regarding the London riots. But I don't think our committee or government has ever shyed away from pointing out that the Olympics is being held in a relatively poor area, if anything they glorify it saying it's being held where "real" people live. I don't think you'd get them saying "No, no, they weren't rioting, they were just misplaced bonfires" or any other retarded excuse.

Though their foreign ministry spokesman said this:

QUOTE
"Nazi symbols can be seen at any match in England, but does it mean that fans should not come to London for the Olympics?,"

I have been to over 500 Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup games in England. I have never seen a single Nazi symbol.

True, but that doesn't mean you can't in the future. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Someone might just sneak up with one!

I never said there can't be in the future, but it still doesn't mean what he said was right.

"Nazi symbols can be seen at any match in England" - It's a complete lie and we ought to seek compensation for them making untrue comments in order to harm our reputation. At least with our racism/violence claims in Ukraine, they can be backed up.

While I agree, I took his statement as "Nazi symbols could be seen at any match in England". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) However, if he meant it as they have been, yes, he's completely wrong and well totally out of touch.

and Milan have moved on to acquire so many better players... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I'm sure Galliani and co. don't care about Gourcuff anymore... well not right now anyway, we just let a title slip through our fingers... but yeah there's that disallowed goal that justifies things...

let's focus on our new addition, Pato, with so few games played last season he's practically a brand new signing!

/ the previous rant was brought to you by... months of keeping a distance... and is not meant to be against you /

Who knows maybe he would have developed into one.I'd much rather kept then see the likes of Emmanuelson play in the attack midfield
