Please don't hate me, but I always preferred Nesta to Maldini.

How so?

Well, I've always considered him the better defender of the two, for all those years I've seen them play together.

Me too...I feel so ashamed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)
For me Nesta was the more formidable defender. Maldini was the better footballer.

Don't know, it's like choosing between parents. But I still will take the in his prime Maldini vs the in his prime Nesta. I think some might be too influenced by Paolo's later years.

Seedorf is most likely leaving.

I know. This is why I'm trying to make it work between me and Cassano. I hope it won't go the way of most rebound relationships.

Well Maldini was originally a LB so it's no surprise if Nesta slightly edged him as the better CB. but really, the difference is insignificant.

So I guess thats it then. End of an Era. The last of the GREAT Italian defenders is leaving. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

Thank you for everything. You will be missed. Wish you all the best (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

Well, I've always considered him the better defender of the two, for all those years I've seen them play together.

I think that's because they never played together while both in their prime. When Nesta came in, Paolo was already moving into the final stretch of his carreer, while Nesta was at the top of his game

Plus the slight tid bit mentioned by zeddie about the fact that Maldini's original position was at LB

Nesta was one of the classiest defenders I ever saw, the way he moved the ball, his first touch, just class throughout. He will be sorely missed by all Milan fans

At least Nesta bowed out this season having produced, in his twilight years, this very season, one of the great defensive displays of all time.

His performance at the Camp Nou in the 2-2 was just untouchable.

He's not the best ever, but he is in the top 5 all time.

One of my best memories of Alessandro Nesta is when I looked at a Lazio-Inter together with my cousin. Sandro as he is called, is about to face a lÄngboll and is pressed on the half distance of an Inter player. It was a nice body to one side, a reception softer than a babyarsel with the ball the other way. It was perfect!
I'm happy that he decides to leave then to just sit on the bench but I never knew this day would come
