QUOTE (Danny @ Nov 1 2011, 11:44 AM) Not a single other player from Serie A is considered. Definitely a sign of the deterioration of the league in mainstream eyes of worldwide football fans.

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Nov 1 2011, 04:39 PM) Well considering 12 out of 23 players represent Barca and Madrid ... Doesn't that mean Spanish football is way ahead of all the other leagues in Europe? It means the top 2 teams are very good, yes.

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Nov 3 2011, 05:38 PM) It's just a poor list. Look at Di Natale in 2011 for example, 25 goals in 28 Serie A games. Messi has 27 in 29 in La Liga, hardly different. Then it's not like he has Xavi, Iniesta, Villa and Fabregas around him. How is he not on there? It seems like the club(s) you play for has too much bearing. I'm not saying these type of players should even get close to winning it, but they deserve to be on the final list. If you play for Barca you will be favorable, no doubt.

I agree. Since Ballon d'or and the FIFA World player something award became one Ballon d'or became as useless as the FIFA award. It's just about being popular these days. And you're much more popular if you play for Real or Barca. The actual achievements...who cares? That's why Messi won it last year. This years shortlist is a joke and basically based on the players potential/popularity.
