I say start Amelia as well. With Abi, he's been more like a fire hydrant in goal, both physically and in terms of ability.

Abbiati never was able to make saves like Dida did, and now he also doesn't seem to be consistent I see no reason to still bench Amelia - who has been prefroming very well whenever he defended our colours. Let's see if Amelia can show more consistent and/or better savings.

Second goals of Madrid and Bari were his fault, no doubt about it. I'd play Amelia any day, but apparently there's this hierarchy that must be respected.

It's impossible not to sound snide with my reply (and I'm not), but maybe the brass feel like they have to make up for Abi being benched by Dida three times in ten years.

That's probably got something to do with it as well. Anyway, the goalkeeper is the least of our worries. If our defense was a bit more cautious, we wouldn't have conceded any of those goals.

Agreed with this, except I would start Abate (and Zambrotta) as our full back(s), not Antonini. (Also, I don't think Boateng should be the one in the middle / behind Pirlo, but more wide.)
Pato, Zlatan
Pirlo
Flamini, Ambrosini, Boateng
Zambrotta, Thiago Silva, Nesta, Abate
Amelia

It's sad, and it worries me, that this happens, it should be vice versa. Pato is the one I trust the most when it comes to finishing. Allegri should stop playing Pato wide.Palermo is a tough side, so we should take it serious, but it seems like Zlatan can need a rest, yes.

That formation sounds really good,I hope Allegri does something similar vs Inter. We can kill this Inter with this formation.

Ibra looks like he needs a good rest. I'd go with the same formation above except with Robinho or Pippo in next to Pato. He was horrendous today but I think Robinho would partner better with Pato than Inzaghi.

And most definitely start Amelia.

Agreed, I also mentioned Pato + Robinho attack in Palermo thread. The line-up above is for the Inter match.

I don't know about you guys, but Pirlo as AM doesn't convince me. He doesn't have that particular wriggle of the trequartista, plus he'd be useless on counterattacks considering his acceleration. So for me, either Seedorf or Robinho should play alongside Pato and Ibra. I'd opt for Seedorf.

I'm with Miz and CHU-LIP on this one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Palermo is Abs last chance saloon, we can't afford him fudging up our derby. It seems like he not only needs a bit of rest to clear his heads and gather his concentration back, but also that he he comes across as someone who ups his game when he has another keeper (read Dida) for competition, steaming away at his place. Once he's claimed the #1 shirt, hie performance curve has an obvious downward trend.

The worrying thing is that even though Amelia is - quote unquote - this far from snatching his place as the first choice, he is not picking himself up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) His shaky form has been continuing for a few months now, misplaced clearings, bad decision making, not saving simple chances, getting beaten at his near posts, very harsh challenges, and even gifting the ball to opposition forwards. We need a chance of person between the goal posts, before it costs us a point, or three.

Ronaldinho and probably nor Robinho convince me as AM, and the whole team doesn't convince me then also. So that's why Pirlo or Seedorf for me. Ronaldinho as AM when we play weak sides.

Come on man, Pirlo is faster then Seedorf! Did you see Seedorf today when he got the ball in space? He could barely run, and Seedorf doesn't have a wiggle, wriggle or jiggle left in him anymore. Pirlo needs to be pushed up for the big games, if anything just do it to avoid having him playing as the DM.

In the big games I want Pirlo as AM too, I think our team is best with Pirlo between 3 midfielders and 2 forwards, surely when facing a team like Inter.

Well, I don't think Pirlo is cut for AM, but I'm not opposed to trying him out.

Can't believe I wasn't able to see the retun of Ambro, especially with him scoring. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

At least we won though, we seem to always win when I don't watch!
