QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Feb 1 2009, 08:15 PM) Where we're buying them from isn't the problem, it's who were buying. Vidic/Ferdinand is by far the best CB partnership in the World, in my opinion, no other CB partnership is even in the same league as them. Stam hardly turned out to be a poor signing either. Break the bank for Vidic! I can for Rio, but not for Vidic. This mans techinque is terrible. I just like defenders who use their head, not their body and strenght. Stam was an exemption. But in general I like the way italian defenders do the work. That's why Maldini (beside that he his near to a god) plays still great football - he uses his head.

I was never a fan of Ferdinand, but the last 18 months he's become the best defender in the World, in my opinion. van der Sar broke the record for minutes without conceeding a goal in the EPL yesterday, and when you consider that their LB and RB change alot every game (Rafael, Felipe, O'Shea, Brown, Evra, Neville..) the only constants have been VDS, Rio and Vidic.. since van Der Sar is above average at best, I think alot of the credit goes to Rio and Vidic!

i probably have more techinique than pippo, yet that never stopped him from being effective in what he does. Now you're overrating Nemanja Vidic. He's dominant in the air, has a solid tackle and his marking isn't poor. But all in all nothing sensational. Kaladze is another pair of shoes, I think he was Milan's worst defender just until the Swiss-man arrived. I don't wanna sound biased (getting sick of the word and it's abuse) but I usually rate average italian/serie A defenders above average english/EPL defenders, and above-average i/SA defenders above e/EPL defenders. So I wouldn't mix cathegories.

Milan to sign Parma starlet Monday 2 February, 2009 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Milan are to continue the rejuvenation of their ageing squad with the signing of Parma starlet Marco Rossi. The 21-year-old will become the third young defender to join the Rossoneri in January, following Thiago Silva and Felipe Mattioni. Parma are expected to loan Rossi to Milan until the end of the current campaign. The Rossoneri will then have the right to buy the player for a figure of around £2m. The Italy Under-21 international has made 16 appearances for Parma this season and has been on Milan’s radar for a long time. The Rossoneri have seen their backline ravaged by injury this season and need alternatives if they are mount a serious title challenge. Milan beat Lazio 3-0 on Sunday to overtake Juventus and move into second place in Serie A. They are now just six points behind League leaders Inter. Wiki : Marco Rossi (born 30 September 1987 in Parma) is an Italian footballer who plays for Parma F.C., in the role of central defender. Wiki Italian : http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marco_Rossi_(calciatore_1987)Height : 1.88 I really like to know more about him

Marco Rossi was born September 30 1987 in Parma. E 'alto 188 cm for 78 kg in weight. After playing in the youth club was born, began in the same club on 22 October 2005 against Fiorentina. In that season, also scored by various injuries, 10 total appearances, marking a goal. The following season, however, does not find much space, and so the market goes in January to experience on loan at Modena, where to play 18 matches contributing to the salvation of the club in extremis "canary." Back to Parma so, dove shows excellent physical strength and to sell and has so far played 12 appearances including a goal by marking the day of opening. Casiraghi has also noticed, and he played 4 appearances in the qualifying for the 2009 European Under-21. (IMG:http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/28ced584e5.jpg) i like him!

Rossi... I've watched him play and he never impressed me. He's not going to be our new great defender but we're probably going to need him this season. Surely the pair of them is the best in Europe right now... I don't think that either of them is so good to be labeled the best though. To be fair I have to say I've only watched 6-7 United games this season.
