QUOTE (dst @ Nov 10 2008, 06:20 AM) In my opinion Borriello, together with Gattuso were absolutely the best players on the field for us last night. And I'm not saying either of them was great but they were trying while the rest of the team (apart from Flamini) thought they would win by walking... and yes Borriello missed all those chances but he got himself into a position to be able to take them... never did he stand immobile waiting for the ball to come to his feet. He was involved in all our attacking plays and he even set up Kaka to a one-on-one... Excuse me, but I'd rather see my players go down fighting than win by pure luck while not caring! +1

I sort of agree with both zd and dst on this one. Did Boreillo fight hard and do everything he can to win the ball and play off of Kaka and Dinho? Yes he did, he plays a role that none of our other strikers are able to.
But do I think he has the Gila sindrome? Yes I do, that is what I thought from the moment we signed him, I like zd was one of the few on here who didn't really want him back. And I always thought that he is a great player for the smaller teams but will struggle for the bigger club.
Do I think he deserves the chance to get more integrated into the team and hope for the nerves to be gone and he will start finishing? Yes he does.

Borriello seems much more cocky to me and I don't think he has any such syndrome. It was just an awful day for him in terms of finishing.

QUOTE (dst @ Nov 10 2008, 10:15 PM) Borriello seems much more cocky to me and I don't think he has any such syndrome. It was just an awful day for him in terms of finishing. I hope it was. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Having said that, his record isn't exactly awe-inspiring anyway particularly when he you consider the position he plays in is an all out striker (not forward or support). Take a look at his season at Reggina, 2 goals in 29 matches, wonder why they kept playing him. His job is to score goals. Period. → Triestina (loan) 9 (1)→ Treviso (loan) 27 (10)Milan 17 (1)→ Empoli (loan) 12 (1)→ Reggina (loan) 29 (2)→ Sampdoria (loan) 11 (2)→ Treviso (loan) 20 (5)Genoa (co-ownership) 35 (19)Milan 7 (1)Cocky he is, dst, what with his positive drug test the last time he was at Milan! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Anyway, I hope we play two strikers from now on. Wishful thinking, I know, but I don't want to have any excuses once the season is over. For Borriello, that is. Good luck to him.

But Brocchi never had that luxury... he always tried his best but we all said he was crap, because he did not have much talent. how come no one didn't want him? The effort Borriello puts is much appreciated as it shows he cares about this shirt. but let's face it, he is a target man and he's 26. he's not in learning process like Pato is. he has enough experience and needs to bury balls into the net more than this. like he himself said, scoring these chances was a piece of cake when he was with Genoa but now he misses some of them. I'm afraid he too suffers from 'pressure of playing for big club' syndrome... Just my honest two cents. I'm not criticizing him at all. everyone may play badly every now and then. I'll start to worry if this continues though.

QUOTE (acid911 @ Nov 10 2008, 05:12 PM) Do I think you are right? Yes. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Do I think he suffers from Gila sindrome? No. Because it's syndrome. The 'Gila sindrome' (or as this condition is called by many who specialise in researching this condition) is spelled like that, just because you're not up to date does not make me the one who's made the mistake here (IMG: style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) QUOTE (dst @ Nov 10 2008, 06:15 PM) Borriello seems much more cocky to me and I don't think he has any such syndrome. It was just an awful day for him in terms of finishing. I think it's too early to tell whether he suffers from the particular syndrome. The 'Gila sindrome' is a condition that is diagnosed over a longer period of time than just a handful of games

QUOTE (acid911 @ Nov 10 2008, 07:41 PM) Oh my, I may have to brush up on my Englaish grammear and cosmopotiaion. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Less DVD movies, more language training from now on! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Gotta keep up, you know, for the sake of the future! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) QUOTE (acid911 @ Nov 10 2008, 07:44 PM) We'll know by Christmas, hopefully. Enough time for him till then. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) If he suffers from it, maybe Pato should play ahead of him when we play a lone striker formation. Just say it, say that he may suffer from the 'Gila sindrome'
