Milan fans express a 'sour pill to swallow' after seeing Gila getting into form

Both regretful and angry are the Milan fan's reaction to Gilardino's return to form after wearing the Viola shirt. Corriere Fiorentino began to get the opinions of the curva faithfuls.

Diego Abatantono (spell): "I have to admit it was .. expected! It makes me feel happy that he is doing good work, for two reasons; firstly because I am one of his admirers and because I like Fiorentina. When the club decided to sell Gilardino, okay, even when that wasn't right because they should have brought Frey in exchange as well. Nevertheless, Milan have strengthened, an already strong team which brought us the Champions League. In return ?! Only money for the appreciation of the books, then after we got Shevchenko, and in all honestly I don't care about him!"

Oju Conti (spell): "I do have to say that the circumstances mad me angry. But also happy for him, because he deserves this. In Florence he seems more at ease and safe like that. In Milan he didn't seem that way and we watched him from the stands, we watched him under pressure on the pitch."

Tio Tiocoli (spell): "I had said in a previous interview that Gila will return to his Parma days. So for me, this isn't a surprise. In Milan he seemed lost, and didn't succeed in expressing himself. This matter makes me feel sad for Milan because he could have really helped Milan a lot. The problem in Milan wasn't because of Gilardino, but in Milan itself. They had bought a lot of forwards, really good forwards, but the team is not balanced."

Emillio Fede (spell): "The season had just started, and the adrenalin will help Gila fly with wings of confidence. Fiorentina seems very lively and dynamic.. The problem with Milan is that it has a lot of stars in the same position. Gilardino is amazing ?! Please calm down, one good start doesn't mean that. I would recommend for you all to wait, he is a good lad but that doesn't mean that he is irreplaceable. Especially in Milan. His move was a mistake for Berlusconi ?! Of course not, he never makes mistakes!"

Im sure there was a Gila thread in the "past players" area of the players section. Still interesting to see what they had to say, not sure about how representative of the whole curva it is

That's sad to hear...But he wasn't meant for milan..It isn't ideal for us to reopen another thread for Gilardino..He's gone and won't come back...He ain't no sheva....He wasn't really good in milan...we gave him more than enough time for him to gel with this team but it didn't happen..

Any doubts? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Jersey or not, it was Milan (or more specifically Carlo) that killed Gila. The same guy is scoring against the same opponents, right from the word go! The skill didn't go anywhere, they were there. I'm not the biggest Gila or Rino fan, but I do hope he slaps Gattuso on the right cheek by finishing as top scorer!

Well, the important thing is we have Borriello now who is arguably as good, if not better, as Gila.

I wouldn't say we destroyed him as he's doing pretty good right now! he just couldn't do well at Milan, for whatever reason.

Um, we did cost him his NT spot, more so in the recent Euros, which I think he's about to snatch back. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) I still think it wasn't the club per se, it was more about Carlo and his playing style that pulled the trigger. But good to see him back. He keeps his words to himself and never complains, gotta give Gilardino that.

Not some other big mouthed clowns we have in the team. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Luck be on his side this season!

That's Carlo for you, turning a consistant scorer into somebody that can't buy a goal and kill his confidence.

QUOTE
Some People Don't Like That I'm Doing Well - Gila

Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino talked about the victory against Genoa tonight (1-0), in which he scored the winner, and the controversy surrounding the words of his former team mate Gennaro Gattuso.

At the end of the victory against Genoa, in which he scored the winning goal, Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino talked about the team's performance and his own brilliant period of form.

"It's a very important victory, especially after the defeat on Wednesday against Lazio," he said. "We have been attacked by everyone but the group always remained united, we are all fighting for the same objective, which is the good of Fiorentina. They are three important points."

On his goal, the fifth of the season for Gila, the striker said: "I did well to turn around in the area and aim for the far post. It went well, these three points matter."

Asked to react to the words of his former Milan team mate Gennaro Gattuso, who allegedly said Marco Borriello has the character needed to wear the Milan shirt, implying Gilardino doesn't, he said: "No, Gattuso called me today and we talked.

"The group of players Milan have is exceptional, it seemed strange that he would have said something like that, in fact he called me and we cleared it up. I think there are some journalists in Milan who are irritated that I'm doing well."

Asked whether he would support Milan in tomorrow's derby, Gilardino said: "I will certainly watch it, it's normal. It's a great match, I have played it too so I will watch it."

Finally, on coach Cesare Prandelli's reaction to the 3-0 defeat to Lazio, he concluded: "Sometimes it helps when the coach makes himself heard. I don't think anything strange has come out on that. We cleared things up in the dressing room, we talked, now we must prepare for the Champions League match on Tuesday."

Fiorentina face Steaua Bucharest on Tuesday night for the second matchday in Group F.
