Dario gave an interview for our local newspaper today. Here are some parts related to Milan which I translated in a great hurry so sorry in advance...
QUOTE
How would you describe your stay at Milan from 2002 to 2008
I’m proud of all the years I’ve spent with Milan. Those were excellent, very tempting and challenging days. Milan is a club above all others. Every match I’ve played for Milan was the result of my hard work. The fact that I’ve played 129 matches in Serie A with Milan’s defense fills me with great pleasure and joy. Milan is synonymous for the best defense in the world. Carve out just one minute beside Maldini, Costacurta, Nesta, Bonera, Cafu, Oddo,… is a big thing. That is clear to everyone who even once did play a real football match.
Are you sorry you haven’t left Milan a year ago?
No, I’m not. Even last year, when I didn’t play much, I enjoyed fighting for a place in the line-up and the time with my team.
How hard was it for you to leave Milan?
It was very hard to even imagine being somewhere else. I must confess, I always did fear the moment when it would be imperative to say: “it’s time to go”. After Milan it’s hard to find anything that could fulfill you. But, a interesting thing happened – after I decided to go and choose Monaco (Pokrivac and Leko helped much for that decision) I finally felt great releaf and easiness. Of course, I’ll be following Milan carefully this season. I wish all the best to my ex-team mates.
