QUOTE (Tennie @ May 8 2008, 07:28 PM) I don't know what would be worse....Schalke couldn't afford to pay him anyway... QUOTE Bayern is still one of the three best teams in Europe. The powerhouses. Milan, Madrid and Bayern. It's another thing people don't like two of the three clubs mentioned. laugh.gif He's choosing Bayern because of Toni. I'm dead sure of it. I've read Toni wants Gattuso with him next season. But yeah, it could very well have been another club or league.
Honestly, I'm a tad surprised some people wanted this guy as our captain. He's willing to sell himself for a couple of million more. dry.gif I absolutely dunno why he wants to leave all of a sudden. I'm really sad....this would be a second Sheva incident....

Well, honestly, I'm in no way, shape, or form happy about him leaving. He's after all one of our top players, and in a way, face of Milan. But in my humble opinion, he's not captaincy material. Just not carved for it. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) No wonder they've made Ambro a second choice for the armband, despite some people claiming him to be a F useless player. The fact is that so much goes on behind the Milan walls that we as fans know little about. By the same token, we don't know whether Gattuso is leaving for Bayern or not. Obviously, there is no smoke without fire. I still believe the current high-profile Gattuso enjoys is because of Milan. Whether he'll be able to keep his bulldog image in another club or league is yet to be seen. But it will, of course, be taking things a bit far labeling him as traitor. Last I checked he did not sign a life-binding contract with our club, and it's his right to leave anytime. Not everyone is carved from the same material as Paolo Maldini. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif) I'm just disappointed, like you guys, in seeing him leave for money. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) If a player leaves because he wants a change, a new challenge, or try his luck in a new league, then by all means that's his right. Either way, it's unfair to label someone as a traitor. Be it that maestro from Ukraine, or a midfield bull terrier from Italy. Let's wait and see how things turn out.

QUOTE (pKillerMax @ May 8 2008, 08:27 PM) If he left, it would be for a couple reasons: 1: He knows he is getting old and losing his speed. 2: He has never hidden the fact that he wants to play abroad again one day. There is no reason for name calling. He is one of our icons and always will be. He is a man of his word and he shall make the right decision for himself and Milan. 'Nuff said. I agree. But I still have one question...why does it have to be Bayern? (IMG: http://www.antibayern.de/images/champ/finjanck.jpg)

Like lots of people have said, we don't know if Rino wants to leave or the reasoning behind it if he really does want to go. Despite all this speculation from many many sources, there has yet to be something directly attributed to Rino himself.
If it's a motivation issue -- and I think lack of motivation has been a problem for Milan this year -- that's something I can understand and respect even if I really don't want to see him leave.
I don't think money's an issue to Gattuso, really. He may not be the best-paid of the Milan players, but he's making a fortune in endorsements inside Italy and in Europe (the Vodaphone commercials in Italy he does are HYSTERICAL).

QUOTE (morgoth @ May 9 2008, 12:24 AM) I think you're sooooooo wrong! Maybe I'm spoiled a bit by having the classiest captain around in Paolo. Every one including his opponents respect him, plus he's able to motivate his players all the while keeping a cool head on his shoulders. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Rino and Ambro are hot heads, and not our best performing player either. Nesta is our second best player after Kaka, if you look through the season. And if anything they should at least be considered for the post. Having said that I'm okay with either of our current captains. Maybe it's me, and you think differently, but I can't imagine a Milan captain making super aggressive tackles, driving their elbows in opponent's faces, bad mouthing the referees, and accumulating yellows and red by the dozen. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) But like I said, the two have been doing the job decently in Paolo's absence, so I can't complain. Much. I'm pretty sure it's not the captaincy issue with Gattuso that's making him leave - can't be - and I'm sure something can be worked out between him and the club. But then again, they way we brought in Flamini sure does send a message or two. In the wrong direction, I might add.
