If he can promise me a few hours with his girlfriend, I might consider it (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

This is getting boring.

Gila's our highest scoring striker, he takes all the ****.

Ronaldo has done nothing this season, and he gets sympathy, pathetic. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

No no no...this went way off topic some time ago kurt.

Right now...we're questioning misha's credentials as a psychologist, and who he's sleeping with to pass his tests. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

?????? sympathy because he is injured for a year and this might end the career of one of the best striker (maybe) ever. How can you even compare? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

If Gila will have a year long injury that might put his career in danger, he will get simpathy too.

The fact that he's our highest scoring striker just shows how poor our striker choices for the season were. He's not up to this level, it's as simple as that.

Well in all fairness R99 did get sympathy before the tendon as well. But then again...R99 has done stuff Gila, can never dream of doing.

However there is a tendendy for us to glorify the striker as the be all and end all of team.

It's there everywhere...three people are responsible for the team's rise and/or fall...

The GK, The Coach, The Striker.

Somehow the consensus is fire any or all of the three to improve. Who gives a fvck about team building.

R9 can have sympathy, I have no problem with that.

But what did he do for MILAN before this injury? Nothing, nothing at all. Oh, great, he is fantastic for Barca, Real, Inter and PSV so all is forgiven. Who cares what he did for those teams, I find it even more annoying that he was so good for them yet offered us nothing whatsoever.

Gila is a scapegoat, simple as that. We haven't won many games this season, and we've won a few which were simply down to Gila's goals. He scored plenty of goals in his season with Sheva (Further backing up my case that a strike partner is needed) and finished our top scorer last season.

It's not his fault he has no partner, nor is it his fault that Milans management hasn't bought in any better. If getting rid of him is the answer, Milan are in for dark days.

Chapions of Italy don't have Inzaghi, Pato and Paloschi as their main strikers, not even close.

I think you're right to an extent, Jack. If the Keeper or the Main Striker underperform, there's a huge uproar.

Alberto Gilardino isn't a BAD striker; he really is quite talented. Is he Milan quality? Maybe. I think he'd do better in a smaller club, though. Maybe the pressure of a big club gets to him; maybe the lack of a strike partner whose play compliments his is causing problems.

For me, I'm very picky about really praising Milan strikers. Feel free to make old person jokes, but the best Milan striker I've seen play (for Milan, that is. Ronie at Barca is another case) is without question Marco Van Basten. And there just aren't many strikers who come close to what MVB did.

I will agree with this one. Sometimes it's made out...that if it weren't for Gila..we'd be sitting pretty with the treble in the bag. Kinda disappointing.

I think Gila gets a lot of stick..coz he wasn't part of the first Carlo generation. And also coz of the whole Sheva thing. But then I think of Bebeto and how he was initially dissed too.

First of all he turned our Serie A season around last year, was a major part of Milan getting the 4th place which gave us the chance of resting key players before important CL games.

We are talking about a legend here. So what that he played most of his best foorball for other clubs? He is at Milan now. Got injured while playing for our club and what the mangement was supposed to do? throw him out? or it's his fault that he got injured? What's your point?

Yes Gila had a nice Serie A first season with 17 goals (even though most of them were un important but I'll give you that) . What did he do in CL playing along side Sheva? 0 Big fat 0 in 10 games. There were his mentality problems very visible. Just who can forget his misses in the first leg of the Baca clash?

Last season? He was very bad. He scored only 12 gooals in 30 games (Kaka scored as much just in the CL). Our top Serie A scorer you say? We had Oliveira who were sh!t, Pippo who's old and can't play that many games anymore and Ronaldo who joined only in January and scored 7 goals in 14 games. The fact that he our top scorer with so little goals just shows you the mistakes of our board in putting this team together. This season is the same. Pippo can play that many games, Ronaldo was injured most of the time and Pato just joined and alreadyscored 4 goals in 6 games while Gila has 7 in 19 games.

He was sh!t last season, just like this season. And of course you can't count on him in the CL at all. He's just a mediocre Serie A striker that can be a 3-4 choice at Milan and nothing more.

Look at Pippo. At his prime he was one of the most lethal strikers in europe and in Gila's age was one of the most feared strikers. Gila will never be something even close to him. And we need such world class players. The absurd is that even now, when he's 35, he's still prefered in Europe over Gila. And no, you cannot compare Pippo's lasts seasons Serie A records with Gila's. Pippo is not the same player anymore and his legs can't carry a full season at this level, but you are welcome to compare them both in mid 20's and to see a real difference between world class and mediocrity.

Okay. Gila's cr@p, he needs replacing.

He was our top scorer last season regardless of what you say. If you're saying it's no accomplishment, then 1) The other strikers we have are useless and 2) The management is useless for not bringing in better players.

As for the whole "How good was Pippo at 25".. How good was Toni at 25? I'd say worse than Gila, now look at him.

And the CL arguement, I'm not interested. Alan Shearer didn't have a great CL record and he's one of the best strikers of the last 20 years.

There you go...you must have been a carpenter in your past life...since you so seem to hit nails right on their head.

Gila does not become a BAD striker, because he is not as good as MvB. Is he Milan quality?? I think it's a bit unfair to classify Milan quality as all who become Milan legends only. Besides, it's way too early for him to be a legend.

I don't for one moment intend to proclaim Gila as a gifted skilled player. Not always are the great players the most technically accomplished. But I think to see he is a bad player or a crap one is unfair. Considering he's been handicapped in his playing system, and he's still stepped up to the plate...and done as best as he could, he gets nothing but good remarks from me.

Yes, he's not worth being our main striker in my opinion.

First of all, yes, I just blaimed our management in my post. Secondly, Kaka scored 18 goals last season, while Gila 16 in all competitions or CL is not good enough for you?

QUOTE

Yes, Toni started to play world class at 29, and that happens once in how many? Should we wait another 4 years? Milan is not the team to wait years for players. Milan should buy world class. In most cases at mid 20s you already see the real worth of player. Just schack about other world class striker. By that time you already see their true potential.

QUOTE

You are not interested? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) This is Milan we are talking about and CL is a huge factor for Milan. We are talking about the most important club competition and we need players that can raise to the occasion.
Shearer? who cares? he played maybe two seasons in the CL and doesn't represant anything. He palyed for Blackburn and Newcastle. We are talking about Milan here. One example (even as wrong as this one) doesn't represnt anything. Just check what Milan's best strikers did over the years in the CL.
