I didnt see the game, but from the looks of it, we played well and lost the game. saw the hilights. Abate has no excuse for missing that.

But i must say the thing that caught my eye was robinho miss. We have all played Manager games at some level. you see the training sessions, i was thinking milan should create an "ALL SHOOTING" exercise and put robinho in it for the whole duration. everyday! very frustrating..

Is Aquilani any better in that department?

Yes.

Is Seedorf any better?

Depends on if he feels like it.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Jan 16 2012, 02:00 AM) *
The rest just can't pull if off. Bonera, Yepes, Zambrotta, Antonini, Ambrosini, Gattuso, Emanuelson, Seedorf, Inzaghi... These guys are washed out and not Milan quality.

I disagree. I don't see how it's connected to this game anyway? Milan always gave their senators open possibilities to stay as much as they want/like. I don't see the problem in those players, in fact - someone like Ambro or Rino would have carried in more passion in the game which missed yesterday. Anyway, let's move on...

QUOTE
Can't really blame it on Abate. Sure, he made a mistake, but if we were good enough, we would have turned things around. If anything, Abate was one of those who tried hardest, and had a decent game overall, mistake aside.

QUOTE
This was Abate's 2nd mistake in an important/big game this season, the first one being against Barca. and as it was pointed out, he's made quite a few of them in the past seasons as well. I'm afraid making costly mistakes (ending in a goal) is becoming a trend with him.

I agree with both X and Zeddie. One must bear in mind that Abate only recently recovered from his injury and made it back to the team. Yet, I have to agree: he's in no way an ideal RB. Defensively he still isn't that good (he almost costed us a second goal when he served Nagatomo a opportunity to shoot on a silver plate), while his offensive runs usually end up with nothing. Remember Serginho? The guy used to score, assist and prepare match after match; Abate's effort and passion (just like Boateng and Nocerino) are commendable and will win over your heart, yet one must admit that those aren't the world class players Milan can build a team around.

QUOTE
Abate is not even that good, only looks good in a squad with the worst fullbacks ever we had. Several teams have 4 fullbacks who all would start at Milan.

What? When did we play with 4 fullbacks?

QUOTE
You're so obsessed with an AM being creative that you can't see there's an alternative, a different way to find balance in a team, and also it makes you think that Boateng should play in deeper midfield even though his weaknesses show up there, and we won't take us as much of his benefits as we could, resulting our attacking being weaker, our midfield being weaker, our team being weaker, and of course Boateng himself preforming worse. His defending is so poor, and nor is he a ball playing midfielder. What is he gonna do at RCM? And it's pretty similar to Nocerino, so having both play?? Yeah, that's gonna work: poor defending midfielders, barely a ball playing midfielder in midfield.. hmmm, no wonder it didn't went well against Inter

What are you talking about Chu? IMO a attacking midfielder should be creative, it's a must. You're speaking of alternatives, name me one long-term successful team that made it with the alternative solution?
drucurl
Sorry to be beating the same drum again, but since Allegri has arrived I'd be hard pressed to name a player from our original squad who has improved save Abate and Silva. In Silva's case his maturation may be attributed more to the natural progression that someone with his abilities can have.

Pato looks to have regressed (most worryingly of all) in every department.

Anto is infinitely worse than under Leo (actually under Leonardo he had his "great moments"

Nesta of all people has looked as bad as a player with his abilities can look, granted age and injuries are a factor.

Seedorf can't be assessed because his age and decline in mobility weighs the most in his assessment.

Inzaghi looks to not exist. I know he's gotten up there but to not even be considered is borderline inexcusable. Yeah Yeah he's old etc but like so many others he isn't given a decent opportunity.

Ambro - Who was one of our most consistent performers for years has suddenly become utter and complete $#!t. Is it due to Aging? or is it due do a dumb@$$ n00b coach who exposes the flaws in our squad rather than hides them?? You decide.

Pirlo - gone.....Never thought I'd say this about the overrated fairy but DAMN I MISS HIM sad.gif I never knew how good I had it. He too looked increasingly worse and then suddenly looks great again when Conte hides his lack of physique around the runners in the middle.

I think that NONE of these guys are as bad as they are made to look under Allegri. But given his abysmal tactical setup where he'd be better off playing a NFL all star squad than actual footballers- I don't forsee any improvements on the horizon.

You see just as all simple Jack coaches who acheive success the way Allegri does - i.e. Ugly destruction football with a strong backline - they are all prone to the same things they depend on - that is to say mistakes in the defense. The probability of a lesser able squad making these mistakes is far higher than one of the footballing superpowers making them. Hence Allegri will consistently be beaten at his own game by the Inters, the Juves, Barcas, Real Madrid etc.

Granted we will most likely succeed with a perfect squad and 0 mistakes at the back....but how often can we realistically expect this? I REFUSE to blame Abate fir this loss because it will imply that unless things are completely ideal and we NEVER CONCEDE FIRST WE WILL never win. This can only be the charlatan that is Allegri's fault.

In summary:
  1. Simple Jack Tactics
  2. Decline of players that looked completely different under different coaches
  3. Failure to EVER COMEBACK FROM A GOAL DOWN TO WIN
  4. OVER RELIANCE ON IBRA
  5. DISDAIN FOR CREATIVE PLAYERS
  6. UTTER DISREGARD FOR THE YOUNG TALENTS
  7. FAILURE TO LEARN AND ADAPT QUICKLY

.....means that Allegri is turning out to be detrimental to this club. You are all entitled to perform fellatio on him after the Novara game where all will be forgiven and forgotten. You can all persuade the management to get me banned for my opinion after we win the league again this year despite probably stumbling at Juve again and Inter puke.gif again. You can throw as many insults at pato and proclaim the divinity of iBra too if you want.

But as always the results will speak for themselves and time will tell the whole story.

As,I remember we came back under Allegri in Barcalona matches,Inter(italian supercup),Atlanta, and some I don't remember ofcourse. And,if we don't seem to have so much comebacks,it is due to us dominating not conceeding a lot...at least last season. So,I think you're being ridiculous...and you've been saying it for like centuries(yeah,I'm one of the crazy people who read your posts wink.gif )

1)We didn't win VS Barcelona read my post carefully
2) the match against Inter wasn't in the League (which was generally what I was talking about but yes you're right)
3) Can't remember the Atalanta game smile.gif

Generally it's not because we dominate that we don't come back. it's either we're dominating so there's no need to come back OR we don't/CAN'T come back at all.

We lost one and drew one....it says nothing. Watch the big clubs suffer setbacks and come out eventual winners. Or watch Carlo's Milan go down a goal or two to emerge victorious.

I agree with you on that,100percent.But,what you're saying about our inability to comeback when being down is wrong imo,we've been down in several games, and had the champions mentality to get back into the game,it doesn't matter if we actually lost against Barca in the end...(even if Xavi dived for one goal)

Our usual formation, like X-off said works great, boateng attack midfield,aquilani-van bommel-nocerino.There maybe some creativity missing, but there is balance.

Allegri rarely comes back because his teams rarely go behind.

Fact: His win record is about the same as Sacchi/Capello/Ancelotti. How many truly World class players does he have? Ibra? Silva? A Nesta who is closer to 40 than 30? He's doing far better than he should with the squad he has.

God forbid he loses a game as a direct result of an individual mistake by a player! ohmy.gif

Selective memory much? We came back from 3!! goals down to win and it wasn't that long ago. Also, super cup game might be not a Serie A game but still derby and it was important. Plus, we came back several time to tie a game from a difficult situation like vs Lazio this season and vs Udinese last season when we were 1-3 down.

Sacchi: 54.08% wins.
Capello: 53.00% wins.
Ancelotti: 56.67% wins.

Allegri: 56.16% wins.

A win in his next game takes him to 56.75%, so he'd actually have a better win % than any of the previously mentioned. Take it how you want it, but in my opinion he's also had the weakest overall squad of the 4 as well.

I also read we are the third highest scoring Milan side since Silvio took over. The other two were 92/93 Capello and 2003/4 Ancelotti IIRC - and look at the players they had at their disposal!!!!!!

The title was 90% down to the team and mostly in the first half of the season down to some Ibra heroics when Allegri's only tactic seemed to be centered around punting the ball at Ibra from defence.

I celebrate the title because I'm a Milan fan, not an Allegri fan wink.gif

And the weakest overall Serie A as well. unsure.gif Not his fault I know, but the level of competition in the Italian league is undoubtedly the weakest I have seen since I started watching. I also believe, had this Juventus side turned up last season, we'd have had a hard time finishing first. No dirt intended on Allegri though, to be fair to him.

I am pretty neutral when it comes to the guy, he's not a bad coach, not the greatest thing since sliced bread either. There are a lot of things he need to fix, a whole lot he has to learn. And for his sake I hope he does. wink.gif And then there is also the issue of "small club-mentality", which I believe is linked to the fact that smaller clubs, mid-table teams rarely do have an abundance of creative players - most float up to bigger teams and country champions.

That should somewhat explain his love for strong muscles and running legs than creative brains.
han2503
I think for now this Allegri talk is pointless, as losing to Inter is not the end of the world but a small blip (although it should not have happened given how Inter played).

That being said, I feel that his time for reckoning will be against Arsenal. If we go out in the last 16 again this season, than I wouldn't hold my breath in regards to him being our coach next season, title or no title

A contract means little in the end. It's a security net more than anything else as you can never know what circumstances you'll face come June. That being said, I feel that the Arsenal game is a huge test for Max, and should he fail it I can easily see him being let go come the end of the season
Zed.D
You really think that? it's Arsenal, how many people out there expect us to come out of that tie victorious. it's very probable that we'll be knocked out, but there's not as much chance that Max will lose his job as a consequence.

The only way I can see him being let go is if we finish outside the top 3, or in other words, if we completely **** up our season.

Arsenal were one of the "do-able" draws we could have gotten, plus they're not having a stellar season themselves either. Not winning that one after going out of this competition at the last 16 for 4 seasons running. It's a disgrace, and not only that, it's a huge financial set-back for the club who just need that extra money that could be coming in from going further in that competition.

We'll see, imo, Silvio is not a fan of his, it's more Galliani that's an admirer of Allegri. For now Silvio is trusting in Galliani's faith in Allegri, but should he fail again, I can see Silvio taking this into his own hands. Especially because he considers the CL as the most important competition for the club

As you probably know, I've always said that I felt Inter were the more serious contenders to Juve. That being said, I still feel this is ours to lose and I personally don't see Inter winning the title.

However, I feel that Juve and Inter will both put up a great fight, but this Scudetto is ours to lose imo. He will make the odd mistake here and there, especially when faced against top class opposition like Messi or Milito, but he was the best RB in the league last season and is on the road to doing the same this season. No worries, I did my own homework, inputting stats for coaches who worked under Berlusconi. I believe the Undefeated% is another measuring stick that we shouldn't overlook - (total wins + total draws). It gives a better indication of how dominant the team was in a certain season or in total.
