QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Sep 25 2011, 12:57 AM)

Sorry for the late post, but I only managed to see the match now in a late night replay. Some notes and comments:
- our defense was very shaky. Yepes didn't start that well, but as time went by, he got into the game. As expected, Taiwo did far from impressive in defense. Marseille and defending the flanks in the French league is one thing, Milan another; nevermind the friendly against Bayern, that tells little. His offensive work is great, but the defensive part is terrible. There will be much to do. Abbiati didn't look comfortable as well, I hope he can manage to break the bad form.
- Allegri made me mad again; why didn't he give Pippo at least 20 minutes? We played at San Siro against Cesena and he decided to take of El Shaarawy and play with a total of one SS (Cassano)? We could have scored at least one more goal, yet we caged ourselves and luckily Cesena had no idea what to do.
- El Shaarawy did try, but he's clearly not ready for the big step; he has immense potential and could become very good, but at this point, he still isn't prepared for the full involvement. Unluckily, we have little to no options.
- Emanuelson did work hard, and I think Allegri will like his game today; to me he's simply not Milan class, his pass and shot are imprecise and too often poorly executed. Yes, he's running and covering space, but again, he's doing many things, only none of them with much quality. Aquilani seems to be another issue, I don't think Allegri will manage to find him the proper position. A "Pirlo" position comes in mind for me, but it's out of question for Allegri.
Given all problems - this wasn't a nice match to watch but the 3 points and the first win with a clean sheet are counting.
Agree about all of it, as for Aqui, I'm with X-off, he did very well in the opener playing on the left, he's clearly uncomfortable and can't find his position behind the strikers. Until Prince comes back Seedorf shoud play the AM position and Aqui plays in the midfield 3. It's really not rocket science, only Allegri turns it into such

Playing Urby behind the strikers as a solution is ridiculous imo. He's a one dimensional player who doesn't offer anything on the ball imo. He's a great utility player to have in the squad but playing him as AM won't help solve anything

Problem is that Allegri has been using him lately as AM. That clearly is not his role. He's more of a CM/SCM kind of playmaker. I think him on the left and Nocerino on the right would be quite ideal. Seedorf can fill the trequartista role much better than Aquilani, until Boateng returns.
Agreed

Both Aquilani and Seedorf shouldn't paly the AM position. Aquilani doesn't know how and Seedorf can't anymore. Both should play on the left but with so many injured, we don't have a lot of options.
It's not a matter of can or can't at this point, we're in a situation where our backs are to the wall. Seedorf
knows how to play the position while Aquilani doesn't. That's all that matters, which is why they should be switched around. Playing Urby there doesn't solve anything, it's not like Urby knows how to or can even play that position.
