ITALIAN SUPER CUP:

AC MILAN VS INTER MILAN

August 6, 2011

Beijing, China

This summer, the Italian Supercup - in which the Rossoneri have already secured their place by winning the Scudetto - is returning to the Far East: after the encounter between Lazio and Inter in 2009 (the Biancocelesti won 2-1), the trophy contested by the Serie A champions and the Italian Cup winners will be held in Beijing once again, on Saturday, 6 August 2011. The match between champions Milan and Cup winners Inter will take place in China’s National Stadium, the Bird’s Nest, the futuristic building constructed for the 2008 Olympics and a popular venue for international sporting events. The event will be organised by a Chinese company who will oversee all organisational aspects.

All aspects of the agreement, which has been ratified by the Lega Serie A, were approved by the Italian Cultural Institute of Beijing and the Italian Embassy in China.

Milan and Inter have never met in an Italian Supercup final before.

Hmm, there's a fun fact.

I like the way Blue opens threads. biggrin.gif Needless to say, blue is not the only color there, in the sprinkle. This along with the funky use of fun fonts, and we have a trademarked Blue match thread.

Yup, I'd rather stick with funky and groovy people than sour pusses! happy.gif By the way, nice stadium, man. Really modern architecture. August 6 can't come soon enough. I'm sure we'll win this one, or at least we should, easily, as long as our defense sticks to its task.

I don't think so.

Okay. innocent.gif I'm pretty confident, though. unsure.gif And will be more so if Leo is still in charge up until that time. Sure, a lot may change from now till that day of the match, but I personally am not too worried. Having said that, I really do hope we win and get another trophy under the belt.

A title is a title, no matter if it is the CL, Scudetto, or a bunch of smaller cups and trophies!
Zed.D
We'll beat them if we have Fab devil.gif
Jack Bauer
We'll beat them because they are merda while we are awesome.
Fillipo Simone
We gotta win this one. Even if it isn't that important.

Why?It is very important.First, because it is against Inter.Second,to kick off our season well.
Fillipo Simone
Well, it was a few years ago but nowdays it's just...well...just a bit more then a friendly match played allover the world.
X-Offender
It's a SuperCup all over the world. I don't see why it should be different in Italy.
Fillipo Simone
Don't you think it lost a bit of it's value during the few years? I mean, it's a SuperCup played far far away from Milan and Inter fans.

It's lost its value because it's been Inter-Roma for ages. biggrin.gif

But yeah, I don't like the fact it's played in Beijing. What's the point, really?

Well it wouldn't hurt now, would it? innocent.gif If we can get full-stadiums in China, that's new fan base right there. People in such countries are starved for matches like these. Even though they have their local league system, nothing beats seeing top footballers play a match there. Makes it all the more special. Plus $$$ for Milan and inter too.

Even if it was a no-good friendly people would have been crazy for it, this is an official match!
Fillipo Simone
I don't like it. I remember the 2002 World Cup and all the bad cheering and fans not even close to "real" fans like in Europe, the Americas or Africa. Especially China is a problem for me, why would we need fans from up there?

Oh well, money is a good thing to have, I suppose it's the biggest reason.
Kazdoodle
Commercial and such i dont know much. but suprised that a cup thats ment for a italian team in italy being played in china o_O
Milan Are Brilliant
Yep, pretty much the money. You'd be amazed at how much some teams earn from it, I think it was Inamoto who played a bit in the EPL and clubs were making a bomb out of him and he was certainly nothing special.

It's a meaningless match which will make Serie A/Milan money, I don't mind.

It means a lot for Rossoneri in China. It's the first time that we could watch an official match in China, and it's a Derby!

And yeah, your avatar reminds me of a certain member here, I practically thought this was Ry4n who wrote this, then I saw the post count, and then it hit me.

Milan is the most popular football team in China, and has the largest number of fans. We've prepared for this match for several months, and are looking forward to see Milan players, and fans of Milan all over the world. Forza Milan!

The actual attendence is over 70000. The ticket sales is around 77 milion yuan, which is over 8 million euros. Over 70 million people in China watched the match on TV.

Anytime, pal. cool.gif And yes, I know how popular Milan is in the Far East and countries like China, Japan and more. Heck, people there went crazy when Paolo Maldini went to play Club World Cup there in 2007/08. I'd frankly have all the Italian Super Cups in different places to people get a chance to see the players live.

Can't wait for August, I am sure this is going to be a great match, with epic atmosphere!

Castellazzi will be merda's keeper in this game. Viviano is injured his knee and out for 6 month, while Cesar, along with their other copa american players, are on vacation till August 7.

Lucky for them Castellazzi's injury today wasn't serious then I don't think.

After last season they really don't have any reason to feel that way wink.gif

Maybe the players requested a longer break before they started training again... Who knows
X-Offender
Taiwo to miss the Super Cup due to a suspension he incurred in the last game he played with Marseilles.

That's plain stupid.
Fillipo Simone
What? How bizarre and absurd.
Jack Bauer
Bummer. Well, at least Zambro is fit right now and we won't have to see Antonini.
acid911
Apparently a whole lot of our players are injured for today's match as well. sad.gif Inzaghi, Mexes, Flamini and El Shaarawy all not available, fingers crossed they are for China.

Allegri's call-up list:

QUOTE
Abbiati, Amelia, Roma, Abate, Antonini, Bonera, Nesta, Taiwo, Thiago Silva, Zambrotta, Yepes, De Sciglio (52), Ambrosini, Boateng, Emanuelson, Gattuso, Seedorf, Van Bommel, Valoti (57), Cassano, Ibrahimovic, Paloschi (43), Pato, Robinho.
amancik
Abbiati
Abate Nesta T. Silva Taiwo
Van Bommel
Gattuso Seedorf
Boateng
Pato Ibrahimovic

I have a feeling this might be how we line-up against Inter.
X-Offender
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Robinho instead of Boateng. Damn it though, can't Allegri just play Boateng instead of Gattuso and Robinho as the trequartista?

Boateng - Van Bommel - Seedorf
Robinho

That midfield can actually put up a fight against a top club. But if we continue playing Gattuseless, then we're f*cked!

Id's rather see Seedorf then Urby, we need someone who can keep the ball moving there, and Urby is not that type of player.

Completely agree with you X-off, Rino cannot make it into that midfield or this will be one loooong game

Boateng, VB, Seedorf for the midfield 3 please

That midfield + 3 forwards vs a strong side like Inter, aren't we lacking defensive skill? Really a shame Flamini's out. I know Gattuso has been poor, but so has Boateng. Against Inter, when already 3 forwards and Seedorf on the pitch, I like Gattuso to start rather than Boateng. Even with Gattuso I wonder we're balanced enough since we play with 3 forwards.
X-Offender
I don't get it, why do you think having only one DM is not enough? That's how all top European clubs play nowadays, and that's how we played under Ancelotti in the early years. Van Bommel, Boateng and Seedorf can provide the necessary cover. Not to mention Robinho tracks back a lot.
