HIhihihihi!

Here, have one of the Special Cookies---- cookie.gif

Hey! so is this Tennie?
Fishdoll
Nah, Tennie is off...well, it's ALL DST's FAULT, what she's up to these days. She's mad about Van Bommel's transfer too, and is boycotting stuff related to Milan right now anyway.

So I poke a fin in now and again to see what's going on here anyway, while she's not looking.

AC Milan will face Parma or Palermo in the semifinals, it depends on who wins. Don't know for sure.
Oh just kidning, they allready played. It's Palermo in the semifinals

Wake up girl, Palermo already beat Parma yesterday. biggrin.gif

Oh, goodies, goodies! More Zamparini fun time ahead! laugh.gif tongue.gif I always love playing against (this) Palermo!

I can't say I know who to cheer for: Palermo has done so much to promote slovenian football. With the emergence of Illicic and, to a lesser degree, Bacimovic they have given Kek the weapons in midfield we have longed for.

Why isn't there a Coppa Italia thread to discuss other matches? Anyone watching Napoli-Inter?

read there was a disallowed goal n first half as well
X-Offender
Well, I only missed that part. Didn't see whether it was regular or not. But Napoli played a fantastic match. First and second half were somewhat balanced, but Napoli totally dominated Inter in extra time. They were much better prepared physically to endure the full 120 minutes.

How good was Urby today? Him staying up to give Pato that pass for the goal was true class. I'm excited about this guy.

Just have to mention under the rein of Ancelotti, we never took on Coppa games with this energetic and serious approach. It was very unattractive for a professional team like Milan. Thank you Allegri for putting the hunger back in our team across all competitions!

*ahem* I'm gonna get hell for this, but I respectfully point out that towards the last 3 years of Carletto we never had a team capable of playing 3 fronts.
Ry4n
so no one answered my question...which formation did we play tonight i could'nt work it out was it 4 4 2 ?
Jack Sparrow
Our usual 4-3-3. van Bommel on the right, Urby on the left.

Urby's left footedness really made a difference....and Thiago Silva was surreal.

Actually never is a bit of an overstatement. Under Ancelotti Milan had 2 Coppa semifinals and won the trophy in 02/03. But I don't think our late success is just Allegris doing, it's the fact that this season we introduced a bunch of new guys and now have a deeper pocket then in years. Ancelotti had to deal with a much more limited (but maybe more talented) squad.

Also, the format changed and it became easier to advance because there is now only one leg till the semis.
And in the end, both Bari and Samp were so bad actually, almost gifting away the win in both occasions.

That's usual again? ohmy.gif

Really? 4-3-3? Was it really? Not sure 'bout that...
Jack Sparrow
Hee hee...It's our 4-3-3...you know with three mids and three attackers. Robinho and Merkel often receive the ball on the flanks....you can call it a 4-3-1-2 if you like.

Someone create a Catania-Milan thread.

Playing devils advocate here but carlo never really gave the youth players the chances that Allegri does, hence why Allegri has better squad depth. carlo always seemed to play his 'favourites' unless they were injured, and that was the only time the squad players had chance of first team football.

Agreed.

I'm no Allegri fan but atleast he gives young players a chance, even if it is because he literally has his back to the wall due to the injuries, Carlo would have been happier playing 3 CBs in the midfield before giving a kid like Merkel a chance.

Sometimes when Allegri makes his ametourish decisions or waites until the 85th to make a sub when we need a goal makes me long for the Carlo days when we had a coach who had experiance but all in all I'm not one to miss Carlo, his old fashioned ways and the blatant favouritism he exhibited
KillerMax
The good thing about Allegri is that I can see he is improving. And considering the number of unavailable players we have at the moment: Abbiati, Nesta, Zambrotta, Bonera, Gattuso, Flamini, Strasser, Pirlo, Boateng and Inzaghi...

I mean holy ****...

He is doing well in keeping us balanced and competitive. Whether he is quality enough to win something for us and stay remains to be seen.

Great argument. I accept most of what you are saying. But as I_Rossoneri(sounds like an apple product) mentioned, Carlo did limit himself by barely ever giving youth any chance. Hence our squad was often overworked and unbalanced.
Fillipo Simone
I agree to an instant. Because actually under Carletto Milans two most talented youth stars flourished - Kaka and Pato. He was the one to introduce Strasser as well, and he also let Paloschi score his first Milan goals. Who else should have been played? Mattioli? Di Gennaro? Grimi? All "very talented" boys who are now mostly nobodys.

It's just because the injury crisis is bigger then any Ancelotti had. And the whole thing about him not giving chances to young players is turning into a myth. Yes, he was stubborn and wasn't exactly Milans Wenger. But actually not a single young talent passed by that Ancelotti missed to catch. Maybe Gourcuff, one could make an argument over that fact, but not a very good.

I assure you that once Rino, Ambro, Seedorf and Boateng will be fit + van Bommel who already is, it a long time will pass till we see Merkel and Strasser again.

And I'm not suggesting otherwise, but even in such a situation I'm dead certain that this would be Carlo's midfield and defense

Oddo--Thiago--Yepes--Antonini
Abate--Ambro--Janku

I dunno. Look at that Chelsea, and how much Josh McEachran has been playing. That kid is something. I think in 5-7 years he'll be one of the best mid-fielders in the EPL.

You know I think Nesta is the one who needs Iron Man armour. And maybe Pirlo. Thiago Silva just needs adamantium. Maybe Rino can lend some. He is the Wolverine...accelerated healing factor and all.
