Regarding Pippo, he really had a lot of chances yesterday, and I really thought he would score atleast 1 of them but he missed them all, Sheva and Favalli really set him up with golden opportunites and he missed both.

I just think age is really starting to get to him

Yeah, but most of the time he was all alone in the front, while Sheva and Pato were paddling back to help the attack. I always believe in playing two strikers/hitmen. If one of them fails the other will surely score. And besides, Pippo can't run as fast as he could do say, 5 years back. innocent.gif Look at how Gila played with either Sheva or Ronaldo, he scored tons. Same could be the case with Inzaghi.

Having him all alone up there, isn't the smartest of ideas, really, seeing as he can't move as fast.

Oh, you meant in general. Oh, yes, agreed.

Well, it did not start, it got to him. Injuries are mostly to blame IMO. Neverthenless, he still is our man and we need him.

In general, yes. Also no one expects Inzaghi (or Sheva for that matter) to be our main strike force, do wonders, and win us matches. They're our support cast. If they chip in with goals, that's an added bonus. But I'm sure by now, everyone understands that the bulk of the scoring will have to come from Pato, Boriello, etc.

Pippo and Sheva just aren't the same players that played for us from 2001 to even 2005.

Is it true that Zambrotta played in midfield?!?

@ Carlo

I used to say Carlo lacks courage. I was certainly wrong!!

Okay, here's me trying to shine what rays of sunshine I can on the game. I thought Dida had some great saves. Also, I thought Favalli did well - it's a sad thing when a 36 year old converted LB is turning into the team's most reliable centerback. The Duck did well too.

Here's me being critical: it's still a group of 11 guys playing out there. It's not a team. I adore Pirlo but he's not shown any of his classy ability. Pippo missed a bunch of chances (normal for him, but he usually gets at least one of them in the net). Seedorf doesn't look motivated. Still don't think Shevchenko should have been brought back. Jankulovski has been scandalously poor. Senderos? Bad idea.

My biggest disappointment with the team this year has been the defense. I'm showing my age in this, perhaps, because I remember a time when Milan had what, to me, was the best club defensive line in Europe, when people feared the defense, when they went more than 10 games without conceding a goal. Those days are obviously gone now, and that's the saddest part of the current situation to me.

I think for this match, Carlo tried going the Spanish route, and score one more than the opposition. I think he really is worried about defence, and knows he can no longer depend on it.

Coz if I'm not wrong at one point we were playing a trident of Pato-Pippo-Sheva, and this was with Seedorf on the field, and Zambrotta on the wings.

We really are jinxed with injuries. Currently we have out of action...

Nesta, Bonera, Borriello, Flamini, Gattuso,Kaka, Senderos.

Out of this, I think except Senderos, you can safely say all the others are first teamers. (Maybe not first XI, but definitely people whom you can expect to see in the course of the match).

And except Nesta not any of them are even 'injury-prone'.

Sell Milan Lab. Buy another 11 players. mad.gif

There's barely a league left to concentrate on for us. I say we start taking the UEFA Cup seriously because it's the only chance of silverware we have left.

2 reasonw I say this.

1) If we miss out on 4th because we're putting out our best XI in the UEFA Cup, it will be an embarassment for the club, 2 seasons without CL football.

2) It gives Villa more chance of getting further in the competition. tongue.gif

But last year wasn't that unexpected or that kind of a blow.

Some kind soul posted Dida's saves from yesterday's match on YouTube. Man, that leg save was wicked, especially since the ball came off a deflection.

But egad, look at 0:15; Kaladze was lucky not to concede a penalty with the way he was knocking the Wolfsburg player around. Hey, Kala, it's football, not Whack-a-Mole.

That was a really great save from Dida. As for Kaladze, if the striker went down, he'd have been off and a penalty given I reckon.
acid911
Thanks Miz, I was looking for this. king.gif Have to show it to my younger brother and sister. They are both Dida fans (my brother is a recent convert, he was a Buffon fanatic). And until Rivaldo posts his full highlights, this'll have to do!

All four were good saves. 96.gif But the third one, oh my! It certainly would have been 3-2, if not for that save. And good thing people in the stands were clapping and applauding.

I dislike Kaladze as much as the next guy (and the guy after that one) but I don't think that was a penalty. He pushed him with his shoulder the first time which is allowed and then it's the Wolf that shirt tags him.

Amazing save that one with the leg!

By some estimates they're in the top 3, and we're 4th. sleepysmiley03.gif While at other places we're 3rd currently. One thing is for sure both Napoli and us have 30 points each, and they have a goal difference of +10 to our +6. Every thing else is about the same (16 games, 9 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses). Though they've scored 25 goals (to our 23) and conceded 15 (to our 17).

So based on this, I'd say we're in the top 4 - not them. And we've got a perfectly good shot at 6th place this Sunday even if we manage to draw. And to think we had our one week of fame at the top after four years. Go figure! I can only hope the winter break does us good, and Beckham somehow lights the San Siro up.

He did actually start his career as a midfielder so there was not drama in playing him there wink.gif
As for Tennie and her post...the team is no comparison to this team and the Milan teams of the past...it's a sad fact but still a fact. So if people forget those days and stop comparing this side to the glory days perhaps we can have a sense or realism about this season and the last one to. All the calls for Bella Calcio are great but surely winning games is the start and then hopefully the bella calcio will follow. But 1st the team needs to start getting a winning mentality and progress from there, the days of mega mercato are also gone so we need to purchase carefully and begin to rebuild this club into the great club we all adore. The defense is a huge priority and i'm certainly non plussed about the signing of another Brazilian to be honest....the club has bright young players but we don't even seem to play them in the Coppa or pointless UEFA cup games anymore..this is symptomatic of most clubs now because the Coach is always in fear of his job (even Carlo will be at some point). Now everyone is entitled to there opinion and me and a few older members have been lucky to have seen the Sacchi and the good Cappello sides were we were practically unbeatable but thats history this side is now and to stop comparing them to former teams both Milan and other clubs is pointless so lets concentrate on getting behind the team and the Coach and try and urge this side on to greater things as i for one am tired of defending my team to fellow fans so perhaps we can unite on this forum and all say in unison Forza Milan!

p.s sorry for the rant wink.gif

You know I'd be the fist to agree and say Foza Milan also!
