I think there's either mistranslation or deliberate skewing of words going on here.
Here's a quote from the italian version of the article:
"Si devono prendere i giocatori per assorbire la mentalità vincente di chi è qui da tempo e farli crescere nella stessa maniera".
Roughly translated, it's something like 'they need to bring in players now to absorb the mentality of those who have been here a long time so they can grow in the same way'.
Unless I'm totally screwing up the Italian, Kaka does NOT say or hint that Maldini should retire (though he does say that careers draw to a close, even his). What he DOES say is that Milan should bring kids in NOW to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of the veterans while the veterans are still around.

I think that must have been what he said... You all need to relax! Could he have said such things about Maldini and Cafu?? He would already be out of the team if that was true... they would kick him out and he would also go without a word ashamed of what he said. But he did NOT! What Kaka says is we need to FOCUS ON young players who will learn alongside the veterans and will come ahead of them in the pecking order.
Should he have said that? I think it should stay inside the club but still he's not doing this to hurt the club, he's doing it to put some healthy pressure on the board!
Of course Cafu should stay as long as he wants to. The problem is not Cafu staying - that can only be good - the problem is not buying another young quality player because of him!

Look, if Maldini wants to play another year then for the sake of honour let him do so!
You Milan fans don't see how lucky you are to still have a guy like Maldini in your team, as an Arsenal fan I would have been KILLING for another Adams character in our team.
Milan's problem isn't Maldini, it's your attack.
Ronaldo and Inzaghi plays like what? 5 matches this year and Inzaghi's gonna retire soon. Pato is an interesting prospect, alright, but he can't be an attack on his own you know, and Gilardino totally lacks consitency.
Your midfield, when in-form are perhaps the best there is, but you need more options there, and Kaka needs to stop acting like he's so god-damn special.
He's been on high air recently, remember the Arsenal game where each time he was tackled he just raised his arms in complaint while the game went on?
Bring in another CB, but let him act as cover for Maldini next year, learning from him while Milan sort out who the next captain is going to be, 'cos Ambrosini as captain of AC Milan isn't going to work.
I can't believe it that an Arsenal fan understands more about Milan than many Milan fans... but Locke, Kaka IS so god-damn special!
