Essien: I Love Milan & Gattuso 



Chelsea star Michael Essien has declared just how much he admires AC Milan, and in particular midfield terrier Gennaro Gattuso.

Essien is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders in the world, and earned the particular praise of many Italian journalists after a fine display against Italy for Ghana in the World Cup in 2006. 

Essien is currently on international duty for his country in the African Cup of Nations and he has taken time out to describe his love for Italian football, and in particular for Milan. 

"Italian football I like very much,” said Essien in an exclusive interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport  “From a tactical point of view it is the number one league in the world. 

“The Italian player I like the most is Gattuso. He is an extraordinary fighter - tough, but fair. 

“The team of Milan I like the most because there is Gattuso and then there are also Kakà and Maldini.”

With these complimentary comments, many Milan fans may be getting excited at the prospect of Essien possibly joining their club in the future. However the 25-year-old has stated that he is more than happy in London with Chelsea. 

"London is the best city in the world,” he declared. 

“A sea port, where hundreds of languages are spoken, and where football is played. For us English-speaking Africans who love music it is even more fascinating."

Gallas was also full of praise for Milan when he was still at Stamford Bridge.

I'd prefer Kate Beckinsale but he's OK. 

If Essien comes ... Who will be benched ?! Ringo ? Pirlo ? .... I mean, he wont accept a bench role. Doubt it

Since we almost always play with Pirlo/Rino/Ambro in midfield, I say Essien could replace Ambrosini 

True. But that is when Milan plays the tree. Now there is Pato who changes the set up of the team.

Plus, Berlusconi's team plays with two strikers.
Sure, your opinion of Essien is to be a starter. But I doubt he'll get as much chance's at the first team as Gennaro and Pirlo. I mean, Emerson didn't move to Milan for nothing

BUY HIM WE NEED ANOTHER DMF right now ( yes im being sarcastic ) 

hes only 25 hes got 6 or 8 years left in him or even more would be great to have him at Milan !!!!!

Essien is the best DMF in the world. And he's so good in attack that Kurt doesn't consider him to be a DMF!

Only Flamini can compete with him this season.
Diarra has not been that good.
And everyone else is not constantly on form like Essien/Flamini.

have you ever seen this guy play? this isnt PES soccer   essien isnt a DMF and nor is he a holding midfielder that sits in front of def.

Essien is not a DM, he's a very complete player. I thought the money they paid out for him was outrageous, he's certainly been worth it thus far. If he cuts out his stupid break leg tackles, he'll be a great player.

why are we even debating this?

essien is not coming to milan...move along
