As you might have heard we were in pole position to sign him if he is to leave Barcelona. BUT now we are in super pole position!!!! whatever the hell that means... maybe there is also a hyper pole position and many other superior pole positions that Galliani can come up with to distract us from the ugly season we're going through!!

Gattuso On Ronaldinho: No Point Splashing On One Star

'Rino' Gattuso is clearly not among those in favour of Milan splashing out big bucks in order to land Ronaldinho.

They might not be the most pleasing words for the Milan management to hear, but the Milan midfielder has spoken his mind.

There has been talk of Milan needing more than a few new faces to freshen up their squad if they are to get back to their best - be it new defenders, a new winger or two, or a good striker - and Gattuso seems to agree.

"Ronaldinho? The club know what to do," he said.

"I am more of the point of view that it is better to invest in various players with that amount of money, instead of just one great champion."

The view is clearly in disagreements with those coming out of the Rossoneri camp of late, with the likes of Galliani and Berlusconi stepping up their chase of the Barcelona super-star, who does seem to be unsettled at the moment.

Compatriot Kaka has also invited The Gaucho to Milan, as has 'El Fenomeno' Ronaldo, promising that the trio will create magic together at the San Siro.

It is being rumoured that Milan could go up to the 70 million euro mark to land him!

I doubt he said that but I agree.
Tennie
I'm pretty sure that's what he said. here's a quote from the interview in Italian from the Milan website:

"Ronaldinho? La società sa come muoversi, ma io piuttosto di spendere tanti soldi su un solo grande campione, investirei per comprare diversi giocatori con quella cifra."

Gattuso once said that the most difficult player (to mark) that he has ever faced was Ronaldinho. It's kinda obvious that he wants that player on his team. Who doesn't?

Well... this is just to calm down the fans.

*EDIT* @Tennie: Yeah, yeah. You're totally right. He said that.

It's one thing to want 20R in your team and another to limit your transfers to him by spending E70m while the team needs reinforcements in more than one positions...

And again: No-fcking-body is worth that much!

R u serious .. R10 is one of the best, if not the best, out there !

And the fact that he is a shirt seller is a plus. Plus, with R10, u would be guaranteed a packed San Siro every single game. Apart from how he looks like, R10 is spectacular to watch and him with Kaka on the same team, would present the best football our eyes have yet to see. At least, that is how I see it ..

So you're telling me a football player is worth E70m!???? rolleyes.gif

The company is of course going to make all that money back in no time but that doesn't mean any football player is worth that much!

No it won't. Firstly cause the clubs don't want it anymore and secondly because the new rules that will be applied this coming summer will force some kind of salary cup.

It will. You have billionaires coming into the game who are willing to pay any sum for a certain players and clubs only get richer from the huge incomes that are getting bigger (TV rights, tickets, merchandize...)

A huge amount of money was given to the clubs in '92 when the first subscriber-based broadcaster bought the rights. Then they made the mistake to spend it recklessly and they won't repeat it. Even Chelsea WILL cut down the wages their players earn!

Just wait for the new white paper of football this summer. A lot will happen...

And the deals are getting higher and higher. For example look at the new Real Madrid deal... In all 3 big leagues the sums are way way over the top.

Maybe...

Well they might be earning more in the following years but they are going to spend less. Anyway, neither of us can look into the future so we'll just have to wait and see...

Since we're on this issue, here is an article about it. Also check the links inside the frame next to it to view newer reports.

The salaries and transfer fees are insane, I agree. I'd like to suggest consideration of a salary cap for teams -- it's used in professional sports in the United States and seems to work relatively well (though I will admit I don't much follow pro sports here).
