Milan - Parma -- Football Italia

Milan have been bogged down in mid-table this season, but a win against Parma at the San Siro on Sunday could be the springboard they need to get themselves back into contention for a Champions League place. Parma will want to keep their positive streak going for as long as possible. Getting out of the bottom three is more than possible, provided the result is right for them this weekend.

The home side have been uncharacteristically unpredictable this term, and their League position shows it. Goals have been hard to come by and the back four are beginning to show unquestionable signs of age, which even the presumed imminent arrival of Massimo Oddo may not solve. The draw against Lazio last Sunday is a case in point, no real penetration in attack means no three points in a kind of game the Rossoneri were once accustomed to winning in style.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti will not want to stay in this mediocre situation for long. His search for a truly reliable goalscorer within his own ranks looks set to continue. It is in that position that the only change to the line up seems likely to happen, with Alberto Gilardino making way for the veteran Filippo Inzaghi. The two world champions between them do not seem to have managed to replace Andriy Shevchenko. Elsewhere Cristian Brocchi looks immovable in midfield, while Daniele Bonera and Paolo Maldini, now 38, should be the central defensive pairing.

The away side on the other hand have much more to celebrate. Coach Stefano Pioli has been walking a tightrope in recent weeks. The return of Giuseppe Rossi must feel like the safety net he has been longing for. Parma have often played good football this term but have lacked that killer instinct – the youngster might just provide them with it now.

The Gialloblu are far from a one-man team however, and their victory against Torino last time out was down to all of them closing down the space superbly. This time, buoyed by that result, they will be optimistic about their trip to Milan. Maurizio Ciaramitaro could replace Damiano Ferronetti and Daniele Dessena may start in place of Jorge Bolano. This strategy promises a tight midfield but one with the potential to push up and support the super kid Rossi and striker Igor Budan.

Man on fire: Giuseppe Rossi (Parma) – A goal worth three points in his first game. He combined speed, dribbling and deadly finishing to give Parma the win. He might just be the saviour they have been waiting for.

Form guide: Milan (D W W W D) Parma (L D L L W)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Milan (probable): Dida; Cafu, Bonera, Maldini, Jankulovski; Gattuso, Pirlo, Brocchi, Seedorf, Kakà; Inzaghi

Parma (probable): Bucci; Couto, Perna, Paci, Castellini; Grella, Ciaramitaro, Dessena, Morfeo; G. Rossi, Budan

I want us to go back to the 4-3-1-2 for this one.

When we play the xmas tree our midfield becomes way too conjested.

And we can’t play the 4-4-1-1 with all of the midfield 4 being central midfielders it just doesn’t work

Oliveira should be given more chances. I don’t think he has played 1 full match from minute 1 to minute 90. Both Gila and Pippo got their chances even when they wheren’t scoring. Oli should get his also.

And we should play with only 1 defensive midfielder. Brocchi and Gattuso worked well for 1 match. The 2 playmakers and 1 ball winner have been working well for 4 straight years. So we should stick to it.

The formation should be something like this.

Brocchi--Bonera--Maldini--Janku
-----Rino----Pirlo----Seedorf-----
--------------Kaka------------------
---------Oliveira---Pippo----------

If Gila is fit for the game then he should start in place of Pippo, also if Oddo is ready by then then he should play in place of Brocchi

Yep, he's a good crosser of the ball (much better then Cafu) Can run endlessly and is good defensively.

Imo he is our best option at the moment, until Oddo starts to play that is

I think Oddo will play for earlier than we all expect it, simply because we don't have many RB options....

I dont know about Seedorf, but I am sure Gourcuff will play this sunday ..

In anycase, it doesnt matter if either or both of them start .. I think Milan will play well considering a win is vital, since Palermo might win tonight against Lazio, which would mean 4th place is closer to becoming a reality for us

Squad for tomorrow:

QUOTE
GOALKEEPERS: Dida, Storari
DEFENDERS: Bonera, Cafu, Grimi, Jankulovski, Maldini, Oddo, Simic
MIDFIELDERS: Ambrosini, Brocchi, Gattuso, Gourcuff, Kakà, Pirlo, Seedorf
FORWARDS: Gilardino, Inzaghi, Ricardo Oliveira

My line up would be:

Dida
Cafu Bonera Maldini Jankulovski
Pirlo
Gattuso Seedorf
Kakà
Oliveira Gilardino

We should definitely play with 2 strikers tomorrow, I don't think the 4-3-1-1 line up would work against Parma. But still, it's Carlo's decision.

No he hasn't the experience yet, no one knows how he reacts to the presure of making the result, Seedorf has more offensive impact and more experience than he does, but he should definitely come in the last 20-25 mns!

We don't want to push him in like that, when he came he knew that he won't have much playing time, and I think he's gotten much more time this season then we all thought he would get.

If we want him to develop in a natural and good way then we should work him in like we worked Kaka in.

You guys don't get it. We clrealy lack youth blood on the field. We lack a player that's got something to prove and is also very good. My bro was saying something today and he was so right on the money I had to share it with you guys. Milan players just don't seem to care all that much anymore... They need Ronaldo or Ronaldinho to come and make them excited... They passion is gone. Only players that play with passion are Gattuso, Brocchi, Maldini, Gourcuff, Bonera and Gila. These guys give a little extra. Especially Gourcuff who always has done very very well.

Now as for others:

Cafu: Cafu is a lost cause. It's a shame. He has nothing left in him and frankly, he doesn't give a crap. He is just there to have some fun and smile his way out of the club at the end of season... A shame for the management and all Milan fans who actually care.

Simic: He is disappointed with Carlo and I can see why. He is not giving his all.

Jankulovski: He has about 0 competition and takes things for granted. Seriously, he could do SO much better than right now. He is certainly capable of it.

Pirlo: This guy acts like playing for a club is just a hubby and if you are bored, you can play like $hit. He's got this attitude like since he has won the World Cup for Italy, he deserves a break and can pretty much do that during games. Well... I say f@ck THAT!

Seedorf: This one is definitely where it all started from. Our own fatty-baldy-lazy God of a player who seems to think he is a suprehero but only should use his powers occasionnally. SHOW HIM THE GOD DAMN BENCH WHEN HE IS PLAYING LIKE $HIT CARLO!! JUST DO IT!

Kaka: Oh Ricky oh Ricky... I'm sure you have all noticed how frustrated Kaka really is... He carried this team on his shoulders until he simply got frustrated and seeing as how everyone else didn't seem to care, he slowly joined them.

Oliveira: He is pretty much taking a nap on the pitch when he is playing. He needs to see Ronaldo to get motivated and score a friggin' goal...

Overall, when you look at Milan play nowdays, it's so disappointing that there are no words for it. Simply pathetic. We need Inter to score 4 against us to get just enought motivated to hit back.

So why should Gourcuff play? This is why.

Totally 100% agree with you, and I think that gourcuff should definately play in certain games. The ones that Pirlo and Seedorf think they are too high and mighty to play in.

But to push him in in games like big CL or Serie A games is too much. For example today against Parma he should definately be a starter. Whe should try him in the center today, since that is the position he preferes

btw, does any body know how many assists Gourcuff has to his name this season?
fresh_prince7
Gourcuff is the one of the few things that look promising for the milan future. Yet he barely gets an opportunity. He's a very classy player and you can definitely see why he gets the comparisons to zizou. I hope he gets an opportunity tonight.

Definitely agree about seedorf and pirlo, they are absolutely coasting at the moment. Could gourcuff play pirlo's role? He's got more defensive ability then pirlo, so thats incentive.

As for oliveira, he also needs opportunity. His last two goals were absolute class finishes. And as for kaka' there is only so much the kid can give.

Hopefully the new signings promote some much need enthusiasm and performance for the rest of the season. I think we need to score at least 3 times tonight. No one even respects us anymore.

As far as serie a goes, I can only think of two assists for gourcuff. The one against cagliari and reggina, both being to gilardino.

My starting XI:

-----------------------Dida
-------Oddo---Bonera---Maldini---Kaladze
-----------------------Pirlo
------------Gattuso----------Gourcuff
----------------------Kaka'
------------Gilardino-----Oliveira

Actually we need a 10 men Inter to score goals. Otherwise the result of that match would be 5-1 or 6-1. rolleyes.gif

Thats not a bad starting lineup, since pirlo has protection in gattuso and brocchi. Should give him the same freedom he had in the worldcup. Yeh mishale is probably right with the formation, which seems to have been the most successful for gila's recent form.

Good to see oddo given the starting role, even though that really should have been a given. Hopefully oli and gourcuff get some game time.
