Milan: il primo acquisto è Grimi

27 12 2006 - Sports.it

He's young, from Argentina and a left-back.

Italian press says it's a done deal for Milan.

I haven't seen him play but If we signed a young player he must be very talented.
Btw does he have a EU passport?

Milan eye Grimi

Reports in Italy suggest Milan have targeted Racing Avellaneda’s Leandro Grimi and could sign him in January.

While the Rossoneri’s main target remains Lazio defender Massimo Oddo, the Via Turati outfit is close to finalising a deal to bring the 21-year-old Argentine, who would arrive with the added bonus of an EU passport, to the San Siro.

Milan desperately needs to strengthen their defensive unit, which has suffered huge problems so far – mainly because of the injuries that have hit several key players.

The Rossoneri seem therefore set on introducing young blood in a team which has a very high average age and Grimi could represent an excellent start in this sense.

Milan are allegedly trying to sign the defender in the next few days in order for him to join the squad, which is due to leave for a mini-training camp in Malta on January 2.

There do not seem to be any obstacles which might cause the negotiation to fail, although the move must be seen as an investment for the future, considering the player’s young age and given the fact that he only made his debut on the first team only in August and will definitely need some time to settle in.

They take a while before they announce it, they wait for the player to go through tests at Milanello then they announce it. So I think it will be a few days before we see it confirmed.

Non the less I'm happy that they are finally making some moves.

Now we just need to wait in order to see if they make another 2-3 moves on this transfer market.

a defender is the new addition, however he's young, we need a defender with experience, and also another striker, but at least , so far so good...
X-Offender
Apart Grimi, we need a RB, a CB and possibly a forward.

Agree with the both of you.

This Grimi is a signing that came out of nowhere. I'm atleast expecting, a RB, a CB that has the physical qualities that we don't have and a forward.

i like cassano style, he's more creative, and bonijov is more a box striker, and he's not that good, but well... my choice is still suazo, but cassano, for me , at this point, is just fine.

but.. can we use him on the ucl ???

Well Suazo would be my first option to but I can't see him coming especially not in January.

Cassano is cup tied, so no he won't be able to play in the CL

That's the only problem to sign cassano... but well.. our top management will decide !! nevertheless, if they are smart they will try to buy a player that can play in the serie A , as well in the champions league.

It's also on espndeportes.com, so it seems milan will sign this starlet.

yes Cassano wouldn't be able to play in CL. but IMO he's great although coaches have problems with him, I'm sure in Milan he would change coz I cant remember a single player who acted badly in Milan, and he wouldn't be different I just can feel that tongue.gif

Grimi è arrivato a Milano: 'Mi ispiro a Maldini'

Grimi has arrived in Milano. He says it's a dream being there, cause all the world knows Milan and everyone would love to play with such champions. His model is Maldini and wants to be as good as him. In the afternoon he'll pass the medicals and then will sign the contract.

So, I guess it's a done deal. Also I heard Oddo is very close to us, and the offer wheels around 6/7.5 millions + Foggia. Now let's just hope that c_nt of Lotito accepts and put the word end to this thing cause it's getting annoying.

They are probably just bashing Milan or trying to make themselves feel better... I mean of course the guy is not known... He just made his senior debut recently... What the hell is this all about? rolleyes.gif
Portman
I've checked that Racing forum and basically they are saying "Grimi to Milan for 2M? How can football be so generous?"

3 options:

-Braida's excuse for being in Brazil and Argentina lately.
-He is too young and proved nothing.
-He is simply b/s.

Anyway, for the LB place I'm not worried. Jankulovski is OK.
I_Rossoneri
For 2m does it matter if he's not the greatest player in the world? it's not as if we're spending uber millions now, is it?
As far as I'm concerned he's certainly worth a gamble at that price, and as for the forums laughing at Milan for signing him - perhaps it's sour grapes? after all most of us aren't exactly sad at how judas is doing at chelscum wink.gif
Zed.D
oh come on! don't judge him too quickly. maybe Braida has seen something in him...
... this is just the beginning...

the problem is he must be given time to show his values... something which Oliveira wasn't given...
